“The moment I get you alone…,” Mr. Ardel spoke to him… and Brendon’s heart
continued to pound, heavily, within his chest. “You’ll be mine…”

Brendon flushed deeply, his body instantly reacting to the man’s words, to his
voice. H-He could feel him. He could feel his presence, but the wall was
separating them. He couldn’t see him, he couldn’t smell him… H-He could barely
hear him.

“N-No,” He protested again… his cheeks burning.

Joshua wanted him...

He could feel the desire consuming him...pulling him from sanity and reason. Would he even wait until the boy was alone...or would he find a way to make Brendon alone...?

Joshua’s breathing was off slightly and his body temperature was much higher than it should have been.

“N-No,” Brendon told him again, but there was less protest in his voice this time...

“Perhaps you’ll leave your window unlocked tonight...” Joshua suggested, but he knew his time with Brendon was coming to an end...

“Perhaps you’ll leave your window unlocked tonight…”

Brendon trembled and shuddered as he stood beside the wall, feeling his heart
give a quick lurch at the man’s statement. T-There… There was no way t-that
he would… w-would… do such a thing.

“N-No, you’re a bad man…,” He told him, his voice slightly high with his
embarrassment. H-He was shaken up and embarrassed… but he… he couldn’t
move away. He didn’t want to move away…

He wanted to keep talking to him…

Joshua’s gaze reluctantly moved to the bathroom... and he inwardly sighed. What a bother visiting turned out to be...

Now he would have to separate... in order to keep up appearances...

“N-No, you’re a bad man...” Brendon returned, but Joshua could hear the effect in his voice...

The boy for some unknown reason was affected by him... a bad man... Joshua was pleased by that and knew he could take advantage of that weakness.

“I’ll return in a moment... Brendon,” Joshua promised and finally climbed back into the bathroom. He closed the window... and purposely unlocked both of the windows. He stepped down and hastily proceeded to put on his shoes... flush the toilet and wash his hands in Brendon’s sink... using his bar of soap.

There was an eagerness inside of him that he couldn’t quiet calm. He was excited... to return and continue their conversation. Would Brendon wait for him? Or grow wise and tell his mother?

Joshua stepped out from the bathroom and thanked Miss Autumn.

“If you need anything else please don’t hesitate to ask,” he told her ‘kindly’ and then made his way to the front door. But he would be returning to Brendon’s window...

But, Mr. Ardel was leaving him… He was telling him that he would return in a
moment. Brendon frowned as the longing he felt inside of him intensified. He
grew upset when he heard him moving away, heard him entering the bathroom
once more.

His eyes widened and he quickly looked back, toward his door, as he momentarily
wondered if he was going… g-going to come into his room…! Alarm began to fill
him and he instantly rushed back to his bed, jumping into it and pulling as many of
his covers around him as he could.

But, after he waited for a short amount of time… listening to him washing his
hands and leaving the bathroom… he soon realized that he was leaving. He
wasn’t coming to his room. He was speaking to his mother out in the living room
and she was bidding him a goodbye.

Brendon’s heart began to beat quicker and he could feel his eyes burning… as he
became upset. U-Upset? W-Why was he upset. He… He should be relieved…!
He… He didn’t like that man! Remember, he didn’t like him!

Brendon hid himself within his covers once more. His heart was beating quickly…
pounding… He couldn’t calm himself down. Mr. Ardel was a bad man. H-He better
not come over to their house anymore…! T-That’s right, he needed to… to… to tell
his mother…! H-He needed to tell her…!

Quickly, he flung the covers from himself and began to scramble out of bed. He
rushed out of his room… b-but then hesitated in his doorway. Slowly, he closed his
door behind him… and leaned back against it… staring down the hallway.

His cheeks were on fire. His body was so hot…

N-No, he… he couldn’t tell his mother. He didn’t want to bring it up with her. He…
He didn’t know what he was supposed to do.

Joshua stepped out but had taken in a deep breath before he left. That is something he won’t be able to experience while outside of Brendon’s window. He began walking around the house, but took the opposite way hoping that there would be fewer windows on the other side of the house.

Anticipation was still building within his chest, but he had calmed down somewhat from feeling overheated. The sensation was strange, but he blamed such behavior on his animal side.

“I’ve returned as promised...” he spoke quietly and waited...

After a moment he stepped into view and looked inside Brendon’s room. But the boy was no longer there. Joshua wasn't fearful of being caught or of Brendon telling his mother...

There was nothing in his life that he cared to lose. He closed his eyes and listened, but he couldn’t hear anything. Joshua reached forward and gripped the sides of his first window to try and open it...

But it was locked and he imagined the other one would be as well.

Brendon felt a strange tickling sensation within him, as though he had heard
something, but he was overwhelmed with his thoughts. He didn’t know what he
was supposed to do. M-Mr. Ardel had spied on him from outside of his bedroom
window.

When he thought of it so bluntly… his heart instantly took off and his cheeks
reddened considerably. But, before he could think any further… he instantly
picked up on the sound of his windows rattling. His eyes quickly widened and he
whirled around, his heart beating harshly. He didn’t hesitate to open his door and
step back into his room.

A-And, t-there he… h-he was. Brendon blushed… deeply… a-as he… he finally saw
him. Slowly, he pressed back against his bedroom door… his cheeks on fire as he
stared at him from across the room. M-Mr. Ardel…

Joshua’s gaze instantly focused on the door as it suddenly jerked open. Again, Brendon had heard him...

Brendon’s cheeks... were so red and the color only intensified when his amber gaze riveted on him. He closed the door without breaking eye contact and pressed his back against it... still shielding his body behind the dresser.

Joshua gave him a faint smile and lowered his gaze towards the window as he purposely tried opening it again...

“Are you going to let me in?” he asked coaxingly... his emerald gaze focused on him again.

The man, the bookstore owner… with his striking emerald gaze. Brendon’s own
gaze lulled as he stared across his small room and toward the man. H…He
couldn’t smell him, his raw scent… but his presence was still so overpowering.
He could feel him… feel his presence…

Mr. Ardel… tried to open his window… and then was speaking to him. His voice
was deep… but still so muffled because of their distance, because of the barrier
separating the two of them.

“Are you going to let me in?”

Brendon flushed deeply… a-and he knew he should think better of it. I-It definitely
wasn’t the right thing to do. B-By no means was it correct to open his window. By
no means was it correct for him to be outside… of his bedroom…

“I don’t think that’s very proper, Mr. Ardel…,” He told him softly… a-aware of his
mother out in the living room. H-He didn’t want her to hear… o-or she would come.

Joshua could see how much he was affected... but some finer detail evaded him and it only made him what to be closer...

“I don’t think that’s very proper, Mr. Ardel,” Brendon told him softly, and he wouldn’t have been able to hear his voice if he was human.

“Please, call me by my first name,” he told him softly, but couldn’t stop his eyes from wandering lower... still craving to see more of him.
