Violet got onto the roof but didn't look around. She was too absorbed in her own misery to notice anything about her surroundings. She moved to the edge of the roof and stood, looking down.

Should I jump, or no? She asked herself.

Violet wished she had the nerve to just jump, but she didn't. She was too aware of the pain it would cause her twin, and that was the last thing she wanted to do. But she just couldn't bring herself to jump off the ledge. At least not yet.

A minute later she spun away to look at the rest of the roof, and moved her foot as if to step away from the ledge, but instead she began to fall backwards, off the building.

Xhaiden had been tapping away happily on his laptop. The reception was best on the roof, and he'd been up there for the last hour. He had barely noticed the girl standing next to the ledge, but he noticed when she fell. Quick as lightening, he pushed his laptop away and ran over to the ledge. He grabbed her wrist as she started falling.

Violet gasped as she felt strong fingers wrap around her wrist. She hit hard against the side of the building. For the first time in her life, she was the first to speak. "Just....let go," she begged in a tortured whisper.

Xhaiden, of course, did not let go. He pulled her back up to the roof. What was WITH people in this school? First the little boy, now this girl. "You're nuts." He said calmly, walking back to his laptop and picking it up to make sure he hadn't scratched it or anything.

Violet, gasping with what had just happened, sank to the roof floor and swallowed around the lump in her throat. After a time she stood on shaky legs and went over to him. "Why'd you save me?" She frowned.

Xhaiden shrugged. Well, he'd done it because it was the right thing to do. And no one's life could be bad enough to give it up like that.

"Well, I'm a superhero. That's what superheroes do." He said jokingly, though his face and voice were serious.

Violet blinked. "And I'm an Arabian princess and you, the 'superhero', are my servant." She had meant it as a sarcastic comment, but now her mind thought it was true.

She looked disdainfully down at him. "Go fetch m a glass of water, boy," she ordered him, sitting down.

Xhaiden stared at her. "Wow. You are insane." He muttered. He started typing away on his computer.

Xhaiden crossed his eyes at her. "I am NOT your servant." He said crossly. He turned back to his computer.
