Angelo had stayed late at the Rosales mansion, even after making the first phone call. He'd talked to several of the kids. And then he'd made even more phone calls.

Phone calls to Jack. To Enzo. To the station again, because he realized he'd left some info out. Then he'd gone home, promising to return in the morning.

He'd slept, and it had been good. A relief beyond all else, exhaustion taking hold.

He'd woken early, packed his things, stopped by the office to give the chief the utter basics--it would take too long otherwise--and then it was back to the mansion.

Angelo had a stack of paperwork in hand as he settled into the Rosales library, making himself available to whoever wanted to talk to him. The kids. The adults. Shay. There were people he hadn't even met who he might end up adopting, and Angelo couldn't quite sort out his feelings on the matter. He knew he should be nervous--it was a shitton of responsibility--but he didn't.

He felt sort of quiet inside, like the calm before the storm.

Maybe he was just too busy to be nervous.

Sherry was utterly unsure. She had just recently had the floor beneath her feet ripped out like some earthquake had struck. It stung like a bee- a poisonous snake. The range haired girl just sighed as her feet walked to where her future awaited. She knew Angelo only a little bit, seeing him in the past. Wasn't he on the wrong side, adopting crime children? She didn't pay any mind to that, as the man had to be a lot more than a little crazy to have done such a thing, right? She had spent most of the night thinking on it all. Sherry had never thought that she would be in this situation again- but she was going to try. The girl knocked on the door, not wanting to intrude too much on her maybe new parent. "Hello? It's me, Sherry Rosales."

Angelo had met Sherry once before, and so her appearance didn't completely surprised him. Even so, he couldn't quite remember where. The winter cabin? The New Years party? Something even before that? Truthfully he couldn't remember. Even while working on the adoption, he was still discovering new kids that he didn't know Klaus had adopted.

"Come in," Angelo called. "You don't have to knock--it's your house."

It sure as hell wasn't his house. He'd be getting his own place, not trying to compete with the memory of Klaus by living in the guys house. Space was important, and after an abandonment? Getting away from all the unhappy memories was that much more so.

"I assume you wanted to talk?" Angelo said, collecting up his papers and setting them to the side.

It was weird knowing that neither Klaus nor Vito would be behind that door. Some almost stranger had placed themselves in her home. The ice princess took a breath, before answering his words. "Hm, well I wanted to make sure that it was okay to come in." She echoed, her orange hair peeking through the doorframe. "I like to knock for that reason, as you still deserve privacy." She stepped in, going closer to him so that they were only a few feet apart. The last few days she hadn't been as upbeat as usual. "And yes, I did, Mr. Angelo sir."

Angelo really didn't feel like he did deserve privacy. It wasn't his house. He was in someone else's house, sitting in someone else's library. He'd inserted himself into their lives. He should be bending to fit them, not vice versa.

Angelo made sure everything was properly tidied away before turning to face her properly, gesturing to the many seats around the library. "Grab a seat, if you want. Or we can go somewhere else, if you have something else in mind. I suppose I should probably start at the beginning though... how much do you really know about me?" Angelo paused, realizing he was sort of directing the conversation, even though he thought he shouldn't be.

"Or we can talk about whatever you'd like."

Angelo through a lot of information at her at once. She was a bit overwhelmed as he seemed to ask her to sit as well as try and explain how much she knew on him. She sat as close as she could to him, just trying to think of the first question. It would be best to get that out of the way, anyways. "I-I don't know, really. I'm not sure how much I know about you, sir." She wasn't the best at guessing, and in those moments her brain wasn't trying to clue in all the times they had seen one another. "How much do you know about me?" Sherry only hoped that he didn't have a file on her. Maybe he knew her secrets, like how she stayed up late on Fridays and ate exactly 5 cookies while watching videos online.

Angelo actually cringed at sir. Sir? He was going to adopt her (probably, anyway) and he was a 'sir'?

"Just Angelo is fine, really. Everyone calls me that." Which meant it was the very least the kids could do.

"Being totally honest with you... not much. Highschooler? Beyond that, almost nothing. Shay hasn't been around to catch me up to speed, and I don't think we've ever met except maybe across a room once or twice. So I suppose it's probably best to start from zero, if you don't know much about me."

Angelo paused for a moment, then offered his hand for a shake. Probably better to treat Shay like an adult then to treat her like a kid. Starting off on the right foot and all.

"Names Angelo Genovese. I've been on the island for... probably around a decade now. I work for the Manta Carlos police department, and I met Shay when the tsunami rolled through. Before she was even a Rosales. I'm a half-reaper too, but I didn't know it back when I met her."

"Alright." She supposed that it was the polite thing to do, anyways. Sherry didn't really know them, so wasn't it polite to use formalities? Whatever. "It's good to start fresh, S- Angelo." There would be no assumptions, or expectations. Sherry reached her hand out and shook his. "Nice to meet you! I'm Sherry Rosales, I am currently fifteen years old. I go to school and I have ice powers. I've been on this island since I was twelve. I also have a girlfriend named Lexi." She took a breath and settled back into her chair.

Ice powers? Elemental powers were undeniably useful, especially on the island, but it was the super casual mention of a girlfriend that made Angelo raise an eyebrow.

So much for his neatly prepared speech.

"I haven't met her yet, have I?" He asked, mentally raking his brain to try and remember. He was pretty sure he hadn't, but he honestly couldn't say for sure either. "I'm not going to crack down or anything, but once we've moved I would like to meet her when you bring her over the first time for security reasons."

Definitely good to get that out of the way.

"I was only a bit older than you are now when I first came to the island, but before that... well, part of the mafia. Helps me get a general idea of how this all works, which I suppose makes it pretty useful. Useful for work too--no one knows the criminal underbelly like someone who was running around it as a kid, after all. Less explanations, for one."

"Oh." She was a bit surprised. Of course, it took her a few seconds to remember that no, she wasn't with Klaus and Vito anymore; this man didn't know her life yet. "I can agree to that. I am sure that you'd want to be safe." Given his job and new responsibility. Sherry listened and nodded her head to his points. For some reason she wasn't shocked by his new discovery. Why would she be? Her parents had been much worse. "I see. Well either way, I would have been grateful for you." She was sure that Shay couldn't do it all on her own.

Now it was her turn, right? Sherry huffed a breath. "Well, I was on the island for two years before I was adopted. i came from a bad father- who got remarried and kind of... Shipped me off here." She looked away. "Telling a barely twelve year old that they would be safer on some weird island wasn't ideal, now that I think about it."
