Another move, but still with her family. As long as those were the circumstances, Caterina was fine with the new change in her life. She stood with Shay in the choice she had made.

With the Rosales kids being adopted by Angelo, Caterina had made it clear that she would go where they go. She was an adult, and didn’t need to be ‘adopted’ per say—but they were her family, and she was not eager to separate any time soon.

Of course, this now presented the awkward situation that Angelo and Caterina had previously met in speed dating, of all things. They had spoken previously, but that elephant in the room had not really been addressed. The closest that Caterina came to maybe bringing it up was when she offered to either stay in the mansion, or get a place of her own nearby in the event that staying was too…weird? But Angelo had said he’d prefer she stay with them, and she really couldn’t blame him. He had suddenly gone from no kids to…many. He would need all the help he could get.

And the more she thought about it though, the more she realized it didn’t actually bother her too much. It was clear from the speed dating experience that Angelo had little interest in her, and frankly knowing that was more comfortable than going in blindly.

She had left Patchwork back at the mansion to help with moving while she went ahead to see the new mansion. Without a car or a license, she had travelled to the new neighborhood on the paws of Pesanta. When he came up the driveway, Pesanta paused. The demon dog wasn’t impressed, but he stopped to let Caterina take in the view of her new home and she was impressed. It was a beautiful place. Angelo chose well.

Pesanta padded up to the front door, finally shifting back into Caterina. She had come directly from working at the museum, so she was still wearing her professional attire. If it weren’t for the whole ‘turning into a demon dog’ part, she probably would have looked like she was trying to sell makeup door to door. Did people even do that anymore?

Anyway, Caterina rang the doorbell—hoping Angelo was around.

Unfortunately for Caterina, Lorenzo was the one nearest to the door. This place was big, and the news that he and Angelo would be sharing it with something like ten kids (Angelo couldn't even give him a firm fucking number) had not gone over well with Lorenzo at all.

Oddly, the thing that struck him the worst was Angelo mentioning having spoken to his father. What, his old man could call Angelo but not him? Well didn't he feel like a grade-A fuck up at that revelation. It stung, and Enzo hated feeling hurt.

Weak, like when he was five and scrapped his knee up and began to cry. One of the guys had taken him to the side to explain men didn't cry, that it was a sign of weakness that he especially couldn't show.

When Lorenzo opened the door, he glanced at Caterina, watching something over his shoulder, and did a double take. She looked like she was about to sell him something. Did they even have door-to-door salesmen here?

"Eh," he grunted. "No solicitation." She was a pretty woman, soft and normal-looking beyond the pupilless eyes.

Angelo was used to big houses, but he wasn't used to this big house. It didn't hurt that everything was in a constant state of flux, changing from one moment to the next. How many kids were coming with him? Nine? Ten? Twelve? Who even knew. And then there was a snake added on. At least there was one other adult coming with the pack, which would make things waaaaaaaay easier for him. That way there'd be someone who everyone would know. A familiar face.

The doorbell rang and Angelo actually got momentarily lost on his way to the door. It took him an embarrassingly long period of time to find it, and when he did... Enzo was already there.

Fantastic.

"Hold on," Enzo said, shoving his head around the door to peek at who's outside. "That's Caterina. The adult I told you would be coming along." Who he had... probably not described very well, being honest. He'd been a bit out of sorts, to say the least.

When the unfamiliar man opened the door, Caterina had a moment of panic. Did she end up at the wrong mansion? No, she was sure this was the one. So, who was he? A mover? No, he clearly was opening the door like he lived there.

“E-eh? Um, no, I—“ she quickly started, worried Enzo was about to shut the door on her. To her new home.

But thankfully, Angelo was there to correct him more readily than Caterina managed. She let out a sigh of relief.

“Yes, I am Caterina,” she said, stepping forward. She was about to hold her right hand out to share Enzo’s, but she could feel a tentacle trying to form in her palm. Typical when she was feeling anxious for the Banyoles Monster to try and make an appearance. She quickly squeezes that hand into a ball and held her left hand toward Enzo, instead.

No need to throw that part of her at Enzo right away.

Enzo blinked and took another look at the woman. All he could give was an "oh," before opening the door wide to let her in. When she offered her hand (first her right and then her left) Enzo took it with some hesitation and gave it one firm shake.

"Lorenzo," he said by way of an introduction, still seemingly perplexed. He didn't know what he had been expecting to see at the door when this supposed adult came along, but it wasn't Caterina.

"So, what, she here for like some kinda inspects right now?" Lorenzo asked Angelo, giving a pointed look to her choice of clothing as it to ask 'or does she always look like that?'

The entire move was going to be awkward, no two ways about it. There were too many people and too many stories too tell. Too many explanations to make. Explaining Enzo to people was hard enough as it was, without also having to explain why he was shoving Enzo into the pool house to make way for almost a dozen kids.

And a snake. Can't forget the snake.

"She's moving in," Angelo said with a grunt. "Those are... work clothes, right?" He had a very vague, very general idea of what Caterina did, but he honestly couldn't have given exact details or anything. It didn't really matter so much, not compared to all the other stuff he had to learn.

"Caterina, this is Enzo. I mentioned him, uh, very briefly. He'll be living out in the guest house." Not with the kids. Just... nearby. Like a strange neighbor.

“Um, yes, these are my work clothes. I came here directly from the museum…” Caterina murmured, a hand reaching up to fidget with the thick braid that rested over her shoulder.

She gave Enzo a quick but closer look, once it was explained that he would be…somewhat? Part of their big family now.

“Lorenzo, then,” Caterina said with a polite nod, before turning her attention back to Angelo.

“I came by because I wished to see my room before my possessions arrive.” She brought a hand up to her chin, thoughtful. “I was just wondering if I can set up an area for making medicines in my room, or if perhaps I could create a space elsewhere if there is not room…”

Certainly it was a huge mansion, but Caterina wasn’t sure what to expect as far as her room was concerned. Since it would be just her, she assumed maybe it would be a smaller room.

Lorenzo wasn't so unaware that he didn't realize his presence was causing Angelo stress. Angelo didn't want him around. It was a far cry from their childhood when Angelo was -always- around, no matter what.

It had Lorenzo wondering if that had all been a lie, their entire friendship. Was the man he'd looked up to for so long a friend? Did Angelo like him? Had Angelo missed him like he'd missed Angelo?

"I think the garage is free," Lorenzo muttered only just loud enough for them both to hear. "Not many people drive around here."

Somewhat hurt (a new feeling for him, or at least the vulnerability it brought on) Enzo rose his hands in a kind of mock surrender and backed off from the doorway.

"But the fuck do I know?" He turned on his heel and left them to it.

"You've got a decent sized room," Angelo said quickly. He didn't want to seem like he was stiffing her, especially considering there were only three adults in the house, and he certainly got a big room.

And Enzo had the aforementioned guest house.

Only Enzo was unhappy, as Angelo noticed a moment too late. Enzo threw his arms up, making himself scarce, and Angelo--exhausted beyond belief and strung out to his very last--didn't even have time to process. Should he go after him? No - he needed to make sure Caterina, who hadn't been in the house before, knew where her room was.

Enzo could handle himself until Angelo had time to hunt him down and figure out what that was about.

"Sorry about him," Angelo said quickly. "I don't think he was expecting to end up with so many people."

Caterina blinked as Enzo suddenly threw up his hands and left, clearly agitated.

“D-did I say something wrong?” she said, low and meek to Angelo. Not exactly an ideal first encounter in her new home. There was that nudging feeling now--that slight queasiness, that twitchy energy she tried to not make known in her hands--or from the tentacles that could potentially burst from her back at any moment if she did not keep her anxiety levels down.

"Perhaps I should speak to him later..." she added to herself. Her room and whether she would be able to fit her medicine equipment was far from her mind now.
