"Wasn't you," Angelo said firmly. "He had a... well, I was going to say a bunch of stuff but he pretty much had a similar childhood to everyone here, so it's not that weird. He just had a lot going on. And he was starting to get settled in, and then... well, then I adopted a dozen kids."

Angelo cringed, scratching at the back of his neck absentmindedly.

"Not exactly my smartest move as far as helping Enzo get settled, but... well, the kids needed someone." And that someone was him, apparently. "You can talk to him you want, but don't feel obligated to. Might be helpful though - I think he'd like you if he wasn't so agitated to begin with."

“Ah…” Caterina nodded, feeling she had a better idea of Enzo’s behavior now. He was like them. Like this children being moved into this mansion. She wondered if Enzo saw a part of himself in them, or if it was subconscious that he was bothered by the whole situation.

“I’ll give him some space for now, and then speak to him later,” Caterina replied, followed by a tired sigh as she rubbed at the back of her neck.

“I want to speak to all of them, as well. I’m a bit…lost in this situation, I must admit. I have never had family. No real family. But I just want them to be alright.”

She continued rubbing at her neck, digging into a sore spot. She was tired, her body ached. There was so much going on, so much to keep track of.

Enzo had an awful lot in common with the kids Angelo had just adopted. They were all mafia brats, only Enzo'd been born into that life, just like Angelo had. Most of the kids hadn't--they'd been adopted later in their life, and they knew a life apart from it.

In some ways that was worse. Angelo knew nothing else, and the mafia had been his normal, but many of the kids had started with normal and then been tempted over. The mafia life was dangerous and evil in a lot of ways, but it also came with a lot of perks. The mansion. Anything they could reasonably want. Spoiled didn't cut it when you could threaten someone's family to get them to lay off.

"Do you want me to show you to your room?" Angelo said, gesturing towards the stairs. "I figured you could be at one end of the hall and I'll be at the other end, so that if anyone tries to sneak out they'll have to go past one of us." Probably a smart idea, considering the rebellious streak was going to be intense.

And she probably wanted to sleep as well. She had just gotten home from work.
