"Hey, no, it's okay," Sam said. Jacota had clearly spent a lot of his early life around people who hurt him, and Sam had just scared him. His possible new friend. Dog friend. Whatever. Almost a year here and he's still having trouble keeping himself under control. Seeing Jacota looking so upset made Sam sad to, despite the fact that he wouldn't admit it. He sighed, running a hand through his hair.

"I guess we're both a bit troubled." Sam stated, then laughed. He was beyond just a bit troubled. Most troubled teenagers didn't get 7 murder charges against them before they turned 18. "A bit. That's an understatement."

Jacota's tail left the between of his legs as soon as Sammy spoke again, reassuring Jacota. Jacota could tell from his body language that he had no evil intentions, those Jacota would've smelled miles away. Instead the boy seemed...sad. And that made Jacota sad. He whined a bit and moved tad closer, not as close as before because he didn't want to repeat the same mistake.
"I won't touch you anymore if you don't want me to."

Jacota tilted his head a bit when Sammy laughed after his statement. His words were true but they were not funny. Even Jacota could somehow tell if something was funny or not and being troubled certainly was not. It was sad, and scary, and lonely. Jacota sniffed a bit at Sammy and his ears were still pressed against his head.
"Troubled isn't good. But troubled means you still have will to live. It's dangerous when you don't feel anything."

"That's okay. Just let me know before you touch me." Sam said, trying a smile. At least Jacota wasn't scared of him anymore. He used to like having people afraid fo him. It meant he was safer. It was the only way he had for people to respect him. But now he knew that more people here would respect him, even without scaring them.

"I used to think that I don't feel anything. But I guess I'm wrong," he replied. Jacota was right. It did become dangerous when you didn't feel. They had worked on that in therapy since he had gotten here, and he was making progress. Not much, but it was progress. "I'm getting better, though. And you probably are, too."
