Event Private Cozy Conversations

Samuel sighed as his legs screamed in agony as he walked up the stairs. The constant running he had forced himself to do after the new year and that day’s strenuous activity definitely caught up to his body in the form of constant lactic acid buildup and aches and pains in his joints. In essence, whoever coined the term “after a few days, it gets better” was full of shit in Sam’s opinion.

Eventually though, he finally managed to follow his companion into their room and he was greeted with the sight of an alarming 11 to 12 year old girl. He quickly peered outside again and confirmed that the door he had entered was the one that was going to be used by himself and Violet. After confirming though, he stepped in and closed the door behind him.

“You know I wasn’t expecting the change in form, I thought for a second I was in the wrong room Violet.”

He didn’t really understand why Violet found the need to change form, but also he didn’t really read into much when it came to interactions between two humanoids and he was sure it was something based on Violet’s own whims anyway.

“Ah don’t worry about keeping me awake, I don’t think I will sleep much anyway here. Much work to be done, and I really don’t have the time to sleep if you get what I mean. In fact…”

He pulls out three energy drinks from his bag and cracks one open allowing it to fizz up a little bit as he produced 3 different three ringed binders that ranged in several different levels of fullness. From the thickest to the thinnest they read, Violet’s, which was nearly empty, School, which was moderately full, and lastly Kathrine, which barely seemed to hold itself from bursting under the pressure of thousands of different papers ranging from printed sheets to notebook paper.

He smiles as he holds up the folder with Violet’s name on it and takes a large swig from his energy drink.

“I had a bit of an idea, Its about how to give you a bit of ease if you are going to talk to that Demon lord. I don’t advertise it but generally speaking I might know one or two ways to ensure that both of you meet on even and relatively safe terms…. If both of you agree of course.”

He opens the folder, showing a basic write up of the contract with the important details left out as well as having no signatures on it.

“I was planning on editing it during part of the night after I finished with this giant hulking thing”

He pats the Kathrine folder.

"Kathrine?"

He forces his the edges of his mouth to tip upward as he gave himself a couple seconds to collect his thoughts. What was the best way to convey something like this without being too heavy about it. He sighed.

"She is a bit like me, in the sense that she devoted her life to research of magical contracts. Though, unlike me, she was looking for only personal gain. Eventually she got what she wanted don't get me wrong, but she ended up like this"

He pulls out his phone and presented a picture of Kathrine on her hospital bed, not seeming to acknowledge the picture being taken or anything for that matter. A long IV seeming to be connected to her arm as she seemed to sit listlessly.

"She hated being powerless apparently, and as a result she spent everything she had to become someone powerful. She was meticulous in her work according to her old coworkers, and despite her almost single minded obsession after she had gotten what she wanted she had a child."

Sam smiles as he pulls out a note from the workbook, while it looked pristinely kept it held an odd yellow tinge and if Violet were to hold it it would feel soft to the touch.

It read:

Kathrine, my and your end of the deal is now complete… your blood, your son, is now a god. Your price is your intelligence, thank you as you have given me your most useful trait, it was delicious.

"Though in essence, in the simplest terms, she is my mom."

He chuckles as he closes the violet folder.

"We'll talk about that folder later then...."

"In essence, from what I understand, it was a loophole that the entity that she wished from exploited. She must have wished something along the lines of having her blood become that of a god. Stupid mistake, especially when you consider her work was so meticulous."

He chuckles

"Oh sorry about the whole, 'I'm a human' thing. I just don't really accept I'm a god because I didn't want it. Lots of cognitive dissonance there, so to keep it simple I try to lead people to the conclusion that I am a human by implying that I am still a human in body. I never explicitly state it though as that could set a couple people off."

He takes the piece of paper and slowly tucks it back into his folder pocket.

"To fix her, I don't really have a choice but to go through some of the same methods she had gone through. Though, I'm smarter than her.... I think. I wont be making the same mistakes she made at least. Hence the giant folder."

He sighed a bit before tilting his head

"Oh I completely forgot, do you have any issue with me being a god? I have had a few interactions with people recently that seemed to find my existence a bit disgusting or repulsive so I figured I'd check before we share the room. I probably could sleep on the couch downstairs or something so don't worry if it is."

Sam studied the look on Violet's face as he told his abridged story. She seemed oddly effected by the weird story at least for a little bit, before she seemed to intently listen to his words. Once he finished, he smiled as he listened to Violet's short but relieving statement before considering how to answer her last question.

The question had a simple answer and a not so simple way to go about saying it. He frowned for a second before continuing.

"I mean, I grew up with people who made fun of me as a kid, though it was because I was always referred to as a god by my mother and I had no abilities that proved it.... and then there were the one or two people recently at the M3C that didn't like me because I was a god. They said a few mean things and then would leave pretty quickly, but it really wasn't too bad. I have to have a thick skin you know.... I mean I didn't ask to be a god or anything but sur..." He cut himself off realizing that some of his stream of consciousness was making its way into what he was saying.

"In essence, there are quite a few people who really dont like me for being a god."
