Event Private Cozy Conversations

Violet looked surprised. Did people really have a problem with his godhood? It took a little effort to believe, but she knew people here could have some wild holdups.

"I think I kinda know the feeling. I didn't ask to be a demon or anything, but that hasn't stopped some people from giving me trouble for it. It's a dumb reason to have a problem with someone though. So, screw them."

Her mind drifted back to that contract he had shown her. "So... wait a second. That thing you were showing me, for keeping me safe from our demon lord friend. I think it was a contract? Do we have any way to enforce that?"

So he had some kind of magic deal-making ability...

As Sam slipped the dummy contract in front of her, Violet gave him a somewhat suspicious glance. She looked very closely at it, just as he suggested. She read it twice. She made sure there wasn't any kind of bullshit going on, like this paragraph being pasted over a *real,* less favorable contract that she would be unwittingly agreeing to. She checked for said bullshit by scratching at the paper with her fingernail, which yielded nothing.

She didn't notice any illusion magic coming off this thing - but what if there was invisible ink? Like, the normal kind? She didn't have a match or anything to check for that. It took Violet a few tense moments before she was finally willing to accept this risk and sign her name as "Violet Zatser." That was the name she used for legal documents on the island now, at least.

She took a breath and watched Sam's reaction. "Alright. Let's see your contract magic at work."

It didn't take a trained magic theorist to catch on - the contract itself wasn't the magic part here. That was an ordinary piece of paper. It was Sam's word that made it binding.

"That could be really handy!" she said, before eyeing the twenty in her hands. After some deliberation, she set it on a bedside table between their beds. She could decide whether to give that back later. "I've got to admit, I'm really curious about all the limitations this power has. But going through all that would feel too much like work."

It was around this time she noticed the temple-rubbing. "...You didn't hurt yourself giving me this twenty, did you?"

On second thought, maybe it was worth talking a tiny bit about the power's limits now.

Violet nodded, following along with all of this. She couldn't think of a way her other self could exploit this weakness, or any way it could become a liability - so long as Sam didn't do anything horrendously stupid.

"Well I'm sorry about the headache. But... I think this could really help. I think if we can get them to sign something, we could basically ensure that I survive a private conversation with them. And that I have enough time to, I guess, figure out a way to protect myself from her. If it doesn't go well."

She could drive herself crazy, coming up with all the ways she'd try to protect herself from Chloe. Thinking about everything she'd lost and would continue to lose. Thinking about if she even wanted to stay on this planet, and how or if she would try to stay in touch with Amber. She leaned back into the pillows she'd propped up at the head of the bed, and tried to calm down before she got worked up enough to have a panic attack. Things were getting better, after all. She should be happy.

"I'm in a much better place now than when I landed here. Thank you, Sam."

She could game it all out in her head later, when she had the energy for it.
