cookies and a shiny red convertible, what's not to love?

Dorian clapped his cheeks, psyching himself up, and ripped off the entrance ribbon to the section of the Courtyard they were conducting their festivities. It was a lovely section, dividing itself from the other booths with lovely sunflowers. There were streamers, balloons and fairy lights decorating the borders, and the entrance, a walkway with a banner that said STARLIGHT POLITICAL ALLIANCE. Taped to one of the poles, a laminated sign that explained the Club's purpose and enumerated their members.

The inside of the area was just as colorful. Next to the poles to the side was a table labeled "INFORMATION" with someone ready to provide information about the Alliance and the Festival at large. They also had a sign-up sheet, for prospective new members.

Inside the area are various booths showcasing all kinds of different things. On one side was an extravagant bake sale, with cookies, cake, cupcakes, and all sorts of sweet and savory baked cookies labeled with prices. There was a chocolate fountain at the end of the table, just for free, for anyone who wanted extra fudge for their triple fudge.

At the other side was a table full of lovely artwork from the Art Club. When normally the art world would be charging a million for a Baltimore original, they sold them for $80. Next to the artwork were glass closets with clothes hanging, all MUSE clothing originals. These were the out of season, older clothes that the company would've thrown out otherwise, sold for $5 - $20. As far as contributions went, Dorian thought selling couture for cheap would be an appealing enough attraction. He never really liked throwing out clothes anyway.

The club also held a raffle! For $5, one could enter one raffle ticket. Third got a $100 gift card for MUSE and its subsidiaries, second got a dinner for two at a classy seaside establishment. Finally, the grand prize was the biggest attraction: A shiny red Ford convertible, sitting pretty at the middle of their booths. Right next to it was a sign explaining that 90% of the club's proceeds were going to be donated to Charity, one half to Supernatural Disease Research, the other to local orphanages. Alien STDs were a growing epidemic, and so was teen pregnancy.

Dorian was dressed very handsomely that day, wearing a rolled up button up, a vest, and a bowtie. He was more than ready welcome anyone that came in, advertise their club and their merchandise, and explain the club's cause. Dorian was not a sentimental man. But he was a business man, and he knew when to make a good sale.

Shay was buzzing she was so excited. There was something about helping the community, about doing business, that really had her hyped. She had more energy to talk to people than she ever had before. For once, Shay felt important and big. In control. She had never considered club activities of volunteer work until this point.

When Eroshay had first gotten to Dorian's booth (more of a tent? not that big.. hrm.. something!). Anyway, it was fancy and just fantastic in every way. She so much as whistled when first taking it all in. Aesthetically pleasing, efficient, bold. So many more words she couldn't find the time to search out.

Shay confidently moved to Dorian and grinned up at him, childish excitement enough to glimmer in her eye and put a pep in her step. "This is absolutely amazing! How long did this all take you?" He could have taught Shay a thing or two in regards to organization. This was some next level shit, but, well, Dorian did run a whole string of businesses and shit.

Shay had decided on fashionable business wear herself. She'd worn, as she normally did, red and black. Her jacket buttoned at the stomach to appear more professional. Shay didn't know if she came off more cute or adult wearing this. She supposed she'd find out soon enough.

Chloe surveyed Dorian's setup, impressed. If there was such a thing as "winning at club booths," Dorian had just done it. There was no way Chloe would try to top this. Unless she intended to use her father's strippers or prostitutes to help in some capacity, inflicting the least family-friendly club booth in history upon the school and possibly having her club disbanded.
Since Dorian had helped her out with her own stuff, Chloe figured that the least she could do is give Dorian's area a visit. She had been meaning to sign up for this club anyway.

But first, she had something to tell Dorian. She would make sure to catch his attention, before making a show of looking around at his section of the courtyard.

"This is completely insane," she laughed.

Dorian jumped off from the stage where the car was sitting, making a show of bowing. "Thank you, thank you! It is pretty amazing, yes." He straightened his jacket with a grin. "Oh, just about a few weeks. I had everything planned to the detail. Milo helped a lot with the baking, too."

He placed his hands on his hips, looking Shay over. "And what about you! The little businesswoman. Very sharp. Very professional." He snapped his fingers. "I like it. It's a great look for you. You ready to man one of the counters now, Ms. Rosales?"

Just before he could get any more rambling in, Dorian saw Chloe Black, a.k.a. the head of DSU, approach their booth. That was. He was going to take it as a compliment. He bowed like an actor on stage. "And thank you, Ms. Black. As you can see, I don't fuck around with displays. Only the best for my club. The best, and nothing less. You interested in cookies? Clothes? Do you want to win a shiny new car?"

Dorian hummed and looked at Shay. There was no reason to take over the limelight when his team was here. He placed a hand on her shoulder. "Actually... Why don't you explain what's the merchandise for and what the club is about to Ms. Black here, sweetie?"

Addy had dressed for the festival a nice pair of slack and a button up blouse. There were many clubs she had joined and she made sure to support each one equally. This was her going to be her first full year on the island and at the school, she was going to make the most of it. She busied herself with helping out the information stuff and talking to curious students who may have wanted to join. After she had sastified that she went to go purchase a raffle ticket because Momma wanted that car.

After that she walked over to Dorian, Shay and Chloe. "Is there anything else I can help out with?" She asked looking around. She had gotten bored at the information table. It wasn't a secret that Addy had a notoriously short attention span. Still she wanted to be as active in the club as possible. "Hey Chloe! Shay!"

If Shay had been talking, she'd have undoubtedly sputtered right then. The girl honestly hadn't expected to be the one explaining anything -- as far as Shay knew, she wasn't particularly skilled when it came to communication. But, she wouldn't play the part of some shy kid, hiding behind Dorian and forcing him to take charge.

She wet her lips and smiled somewhat uneasily at Chloe. "Starlight Political Alliance is for those who want to make a difference in the community, both on and off campus. Among other goals, we hope to give minorities a voice and help to eliminate prejudice from Manta Carlos."

Shay would have gone on to define the charities and volunteer work the Starlight Political Association was a part of, but she'd never been as much a fan of words as she was of actions. She motioned to their various merchandise.

"As you can see, we have a variety of MUSE clothing at a discount, along with original pieces of art, baked goods, and for only five dollars you can join a raffle for the possibility of winning a hundred dollar gift card to MUSE and its subsidiaries, a dinner for two at Jaynce's seaside restaurant, or that red convertible." Shay motioned to each piece as she described them, lingering just a second longer on the car. "Ninty percent of our profits are going to charity. Half to the supernatural disease center and the other half to the local orphanage."

Shay had finished her little speech just as her sister arrived. She gave Addy a radiant grin and motioned her to stand closer. "Hey, Strawberry!"

Chloe stood and listened attentively to Shay's little speech. When it was done, she smiled and said, "That sounds like my kind of club. Where do I sign up?" She already expected Dorian to plug his club's events at her meetings, and vice-versa. They would be stronger together than they were apart.

She would nod to Addy as she arrived. A reserved greeting, to be sure: she was still afraid that the girl would hit on her and make her feel uncomfortable again.

"Now, if you'll excuse me," she would say at the next convenient moment, a joking smirk upon her lips, "I have a shiny new car to win." Chloe didn't even know what she'd do with that convertible. Sell it, maybe?

Dorian watched Shay inform Chloe about their club. It wasn't as if he didn't want to do it, but he wanted his club to help his members grow too, and he knew making Shay do that would help with her confidence. He gave her a small pat on the shoulder and a winning smile. "Good job, Shay!"

Chloe Black! Asking them where to sign up! That was a huge step. Dorian raised a finger and pulled a clipboard from the desk, then offered it to Chloe. "Here! Meetings are at every Tuesday at 6, in Classroom B601 in the general building. Stop by sometime. We're planning on doing a large convention next month to help the new alien citizens get acquainted with Earth."

Dorian laughed. "Alright! It was great seeing you, Chloe."

He then turned his attention to Addy, and smiled. "Hey, good job on that information table, kiddo. How about you had out some cookies with the Alliance's logo on it?" He picked up a small metal tray filled with cookies. "Don't let people take more than one. Tell them if they want more, they should stop by our booth."
