Hazel poofed the ice away, swearing at herself. Of course the damn thing would destroy, why would it not. Letting herself be surprised, and now they are all hurt with a giant bird on them. She did notice the strange voice from Jason, and then had to decide what to do next.

She got to her legs, walking over. In the end, this was probably stupid, but she needed the vulture away from them. Waving her hands, ice hands would appear, trying to attack the creature, mainly aiming for the face. Knock it away from them, or even out. If it turns out well, then they could capture that instead. If not, well, she already lost one leg, what's another....

The bird recoiled from Jason as a spike from his arm entered his body, although it didn't get too far before icy hands began pummeling it. The vulture screeched and turned to leave, clearly thinking this prey more trouble than it was worth.

Jason stood up and took aim with his tranquilizer gun. He fired several darts, with only a couple of them hitting the creature. It barely made it halfway across the clearing before crashing to the ground. Huffing from the bleeding wound on his thigh, he took a knee to rest.

Hazel clapped her hands, an ice wheelbarrow picking up the roofwalker and bringing it closer. She wanted to study the creature a bit, with a few obvious limitations. Although she did want to ask a few questions to Jason. He has peeked her interest a bit.

"Professor Chang, if you don't mind I would like to ask a few questions." She knelt down, picking up her bandages from her bag and starting to work on Jason's leg. "So first, your voice sounded quite similar to a young girl. Is that related to something else or was that from the pain. Secondly, are you an android?" She finished bandaging up Jason, then looked over at the Evans to see if they needed any help.

The ice around REvan dissipated, freeing him and giving him a solid view of what happened next. The bird tried to take off, fended off by Jason's terminator arm, and then crashed to the ground, tranquilized repeatedly.

"I have a more important question," LEvan cut in, heading towards his duplicate to rejoin. "Are we supposed to kill that thing, or are you expecting us to haul it back to safety? Because it's dangerous. It's got blood on its front already. Something's already tried to kill it and failed, and the only reason we did is because we had overwhelming firepower to take it down. If it was just swooping down on one kid? It'd be having a snack."

Jason's mouth twitched as Hazel moved to bandage him. She would notice that his flesh was soft and malleable, like clay. He grimaced and pulled away as soon as she was done with the bandages. "A f-" he started, the feminine voice still coming through. He cleared his throat. "A feminine voice? I mean, I have been told I have a rather girlish scream, I'm shamed to say. As for being an android, no. The metal you saw was just another power I possess."

Standing up and testing his leg, he sighed and looked over at the downed vulture. Then back to Evan. "No, I suppose you are right. We don't have the equipment to take it back to the lab and quite frankly too much sedative will kill it anyway."
Making sure he could stand properly, he held out his hand to Evan. "If I may have your rifle, I'll do it. I know how to make it a clean, painless kill."

Evan had not survived as long as he was by being trusting. He didn't know why Jason was hiding shit, but he was entirely sure they were. Only an idiot would have bought their girlish scream excuse, and he raised an eyebrow at Hazel before merging back together.

"So can I," Evan said. "It's an injured bird, not like we didn't have birds back home."

Well, they didn't have ones THAT big.

Evan moved forward, avoiding the no doubt still flailing vulture, aimed squarely, and shot it through the brain. He wasn't going to give up his gun, but he wasn't going to press more.

"So we're done, right? We've got the thing--even if it's dead--and a bonus monster bird while we're at it."

Did that mean he got double the pay?

Jason stared at Evan as he pulled away, his eyes fixed on the gun for several brief moments. But then, the bird dead, he looked away, his attention apparently elsewhere.

"Yes, we're done," he said. "If you'll both remain here with me, a team will come to collect the bodies. I had planned to have us return with them, but..."

Jason cast an annoyed look at the body of the bird.

"Obviously that's not an option."

The rest of the afternoon was uneventful. A team arrived before long, ready to transport the bird back using magical containment, and both Hazel and Evan were paid... including a bonus for Hazard pay.

Jason would watch both of them carefully, but didn't bring up anything specific, content to let the rest of the team handle their payment.
