Mikey took a second for the words to sink in. He could not control his powers and he know it. He banged his head against the back of his chair.

Everto stalked into the room. He was late, but he did not care. Leaning up against the back wall, he glared at the Headmistress and teachers.

Tair turned his attention towards the front of the classroom, quietly taking in what the three teachers had announced. A battle using powers, it was something he'd been expecting the teachers to ask of them, but he hadn't expected it to come so soon.

He had a fairly good amount of control over his powers from learning on his own as well as the guidance his sister had given him, but had decided to come to this school to polish up his training and perhaps grow even stronger. He was somewhat sure he could hold his own in combat, though he would undoubtedly have a hard time with any fire-type users. He was quite sure that red haired girl he'd glanced over was one-

The 'heat radar', as his sister affectionately referred to his ingrown ability to feel large amounts of heat (a self protection skill), went off at the same time he heard footsteps entering the room. He quickly froze in place as he felt the rather large amount of heat enter the room and take a spot near the back wall. His fingers twitched a bit, the only sign of his discomfort at the prickling warmth, but he quickly willed them to stop and slipped his hands off the desk.

Entering the room, he'd felt a similar air come from one of the girls in the room, but this air held a bit more... hostility to it. He took a small breath then cast a quick glance over his shoulder to spot who had been emitting the abnormal amount of heat. His eyes landed on the rather dark looking figure leaning against the wall, a glare directed over Tair's head and towards the teachers in front. He studied the boy briefly before looking forward, hopefully before the dark teen had noticed his inspection.

After all this was over, Tair planned to take a long cold shower. Or perhaps just lay out in an empty area and create a small snow bank around himself. Outside though, he doubted his roommate would enjoy returning to a snow-covered dorm room.

(actually, Everto has very little body heat.)
Everto became aware of someone watching him. Shifting his eyes to the boy in front of him, he fixed the kid with a cold, merciless stare for a few minutes. Everto decided he neede to know what was going on. And the kid was a prim candidate. Poking him in the back, Everto spoke in a cold, cruel voice,
"What have they said?"
His eyes were focused on the boy, a stare so cold and merciless than almost anyone would have felt at least a tinge of fear.

(Ah, sorry, Altair tends to 'feel' fire-users as a kind of self-preservation method)

A small chill ran down Tair's back, causing his fingers to twitch once more. No doubt the dark teen had noticed his non-too-discrete starings and was currently drilling holes in the back of his head with his eyes. While Tair had no problem with studying other people, he tended to feel a bit awkward when other people decided to return the favor and study him. A bit hypocritical, but he couldn't help it-

At the poke to his back, Tair nearly leapt out of his seat in surprise, just barely managing to stay grounded. He definitely hadn't been expecting that. One hand came up to rest against his chest in an effort to calm himself. In the back of his head, he could hear his sister's voice reminding him to stay calm when he found himself in uncomfortable situations. He could easily classify this current scenario as an 'uncomfortable situation'.

The other teen had asked him a question, he realized. Asked in a rather cold tone of voice, but asked none the less and it would be rude of Tair not to respond.

"...Battles," he said softly after a pause, keeping his gaze forward. Intuition told him that he didn't want to turn around and look at the other boy directly and, usually, his intuition was right. At least, he was going to trust it this time.

Everto nodded, and leant back up against the wall. Now this was more like it. Glaring once more at the adults up the front, Everto fell silent.

Brianna appeared in the corner of the room. She had Transported here, hoping no one had seen her become late. She already knew about the battles anyway.

Brianna was different than anyone here. She didn't really belong at this school, but she found she liked this school more than a witchcraft school. Look at all these kids here, each of them a unique and special power.. and then there's me, with this stupid wand. Who am I kidding? I cant ammount up to these people!

Brianna couldn't decide if she wanted to stay, or leave, but under the circumstances, she thought battles would make her have new friends.. that's what she needed.

Brianna found an empty seat in the back, and twiddled with her wand. It was a brown wand, with a unicorn hair in the middle.. Around the top she examined the pink ribbon that had been given to her a long time ago.. She looked at the ribbon, and twirled it through her fingers, Oh, I miss you so much. I wish you were here with me now..
thought Brianna. Soon realizing she was missing what the teacher was saying, she stopped dwindling on the past, and paid attention.

"Actually, yeah.", said Brianna. Rembering what happened earlier in the Hospital Wing, she stood up and walked to the back corner of the room.

Everto noticed Marine run in. Although was being nice to her now, he had no intention of letting anyone else see him like that. So he just watched her, his eyes cold and merciless.
