Adelina looked at the boy who had just sat down in one of the seats. He looks new... she thought to herself, turning her gaze back to the three teachers in the front of the room.
Miss Arlen whispered something to the two other adults she was standing next to. Headmistress Moor looked round the room, and then nodded at Ms. Malone.
"Welcome, students," Ms. Malone began with a smile. "This is the first competition of the year. As the year continues, there will be more, with more and more students, but for now, we thought a small class would be best."
Miss Arlen continued where Ms. Malone left off. "The main goal of this is to strengthen your powers and help you control them better. There will be small... er, 'battles'... is that the right word? Oh well. And the winner of one will face the winner of another one, and so on and so on until there someone wins the whole competition. We're still deciding on a prize though, so if anyone has any ideas, feel free to share them!"
Adelina tilted her head, confused and interested at the same time. She looked around the class room, glad that she only knew one of the people there. It would make it at least a little easier for her to fight if she didn't know everyone in the room.
"Are there any questions?" Headmistress Moor asked.
