Event Summary:
Two groups of volunteers set out in response to the Manta Carlos Coast Guard's call to action and each group worked as a team to rescue many sailors and fishermen from an unpredictably hostile situation in the ocean.
Yvarn, Remiel, Tribdan and Illu discovered strange lights in the water around a damaged fishing vessel. While the others were saving the crew members, including those trapped beneath the surface of the water, Yvarn investigated the lights. It seemed that the lights responded poorly to the investigation and gathered to forcefully eject Yvarn from the water before starting a huge whirlpool into motion.
The team worked together, with each person lending their own personal strengths, to save all the fishermen and drag the rescue boat out of the clutches of the deadly whirlpool. Meanwhile Illu was able to get close enough through the racing waters to see that the lights belonged to some kind of humanoids or merfolk of some kind. Everyone escaped, but Illu was left injured by her push through the debris in the whirlpool.
Salal, Miraj, Altizica and Arnaaluk made up the other team of volunteers. They found a capsized and sinking ship and another caught in an unnaturally growing coral reef that hadn't been there before. The stronger swimmers among them pulled the trapped sailors to safety on the rescue boat while the others saw to wounds and comforted the waterlogged crews.
They too encountered a large, mysteriously forming whirlpool in addition to the visibly growing reef they had been fighting to rescue the boat from. They were able to rescue all the crew members but unfortunately the boats were less fortunate and one was pulled down by the whirlpool while the other was swallowed by coral. The volunteers reported hearing a faint song-like sound from the waters just before the storm ended and something in the distance flew away.
