She had been wondering for a while now if this whole deal wasn't some joke from one of the bullies. The thought of a place for people with "problems" just like hers sounded too good to be true. Madelin could remember it like yesterday when they got the letter at home, her parents hadn't trusted it and claimed that she should resume getting into a private college. Her brother, Johnatan, was the only one who encouraged her to go. Even if his reason may sound selfish, to Madelin it was a good point. If the gift, as they called it, wasn't as strange as they had said, surely they should be able to help her?
Just for that reason she had gotten on the boat hours ago and was now waiting till she could get off the boat. She had been sitting on a small bench on the other side of the cabin, facing the door. It wasn't like she didn't brought enough things to read, music to listen to and movies to watch with her, she just felt bored. Nothing was more boring than waiting and wondering about what to do but not being able to do something. Although the difference here was the water that had been constantly crashing into the boat, which had made her quite jumpy and annoyed.
A knock could be heard from the door, shortly followed by footsteps walking away. Madelin peers outside before frowning and opening the door slightly. Bright sunlight hits her sensitive eyes and she picks up her umbrella, opening it outside to provide some shade before stepping outside. Looking around it had seemed that she was the only one standing there, they had arrived at the island yet the dock appeared to be empty. She picked her bag up and put it on her back before walking off the boat towards the docks.
It was a problem though, she needed to find the administration office, but where was it. There was no-one to ask directions, she didn’t have a map either. With a deep sigh she sits down in the sand of the beach. She puts the umbrella in the sand and makes sure not a part of her body is exposed to the bright sun. Madelin takes the letter from the academy out of her bag and looks at it, hoping to find a hint. “Small.. Island in the Pacific Ocean…" she frowns and anwers sarcastically. "Gosh, I didn't notice that it’s in the middle of the Pacific. Thank you for saying that mister paper.†She glances up from the paper, looking around to see if there where any people before looking back down again. “Doesn’t it have an address on it?†She skims the paper again and sees a phone number written on the bottom of the paper. Delighted she takes out her phone and start calling the number, only to receive the message that she is out of reach for the company.
Madelin groans and leans back while placing her phone on her lap. “This is hopeless, I will never find it within the week. I should had stayed home.†She sighs before watching the waves on the ocean, wishing that someone would appear, even if just to ask directions.
