"Oh. Well. Thank you." A pause - not, in Veronica's opinion, an awkward one; but she was bad at judging that sort of thing anyway. "How long have you been here, anyway?"
Veronica smirked almost unnoticeably, twirling her cane absent-mindedly. "I'd like to say it gets better, but I've been here five months and've yet to met someone I actually like." A pause, and she held up a finger to silence the girl. "And that has nothing to do with my personality, I swear."
Em laughed... "Okay maybe... But you do realize your not the nicest person in the world..." She laughed lightly... "So I'm sure your annoyed of me... So maybe I should go before you vow to kill me sometime..."
She tilted her head to the side, considering this. "I'm actually ok with it. And no, you're not annoying me." A pause, and she shrugged. "Although it might be the other way around, with me being 'not the nicest person.'" She was unable to resist wriggling her digits in finger quotes at the last part, laughing slightly.
A small smirk. "And I am easily amused." She thought for a moment, trying to remember exactly what it was she did. "Read, mostly, or walk around; you might have noticed I'm the sort who prefers her company above all others." A pause, and she shrugged. "I doubt that was what you were talking about. There are some absolutely brilliant clubs in the area; you sound old enough to be admitted." She tilted an ear at the silent girl as if to confirm this fact, shrugging and falling silent herself. "I'm afraid I'm not the best person to be consulting on the fun side of Starlight Academy."
She laughed... "I need to find a new hobbie... There's too many people to get in fights with... And many are just as powerful as me so it lasts forever..."
She said with a sigh....
Veronica sighed, lolling her head to one side and then the other. "Wish I could fight. My reflexes are good, but it's rather hard to defend against an attack you can't see." A wistful look crossed her face for a fraction of a second, but it was gone anyone could see it. "What sort of fights? Fencing, or" - she held up both fists briefly - "duking it out with your bare hands?"
"No... Sword fights power fights... And you can fight when you can't see... I could teach you how... It's not too hard depending on how you go about it. You want me to?"
She asked friendlyly....
