Chloe's arrival had a serious impact on all the rabble. They howled like animals and frothed at the mouth with their hate. They would run her down and tear her apart if they weren't penned into their designated protest space, or if the police and the media weren't watching so closely.

"LOCK HER UP! SEND HER HOME! LOCK HER UP! SEND HER HOME!"

Chloe smiled and waved. Unperturbed by fact, those people still thought Chloe and her father were responsible for the corn maze incident, still wanted her in the ground. At least she wasn't facing them down alone today. Today, there would be two dueling protests outside of city hall.

On one side, the CAE, who had the gall to call themselves "Citizens Against Evil" when they were in fact an anti-demon hate group. Some of their chants were pretty catchy, especially the one that just went "go back to hell." They wanted demon criminals to be deported, they wanted demon immigration dramatically restricted, and they wanted multiple kinds of demonic ritual either tightly regulated or banned entirely, such as demon summoning and even mere communication with demonic forces. The slogans on their signs were pretty telling. "Keep our children safe!" said one sign, with a picture of a child cowering in the shadow of a horned figure. "A danger to us all," said another sign, with a scary-looking devil on the front. "God hates demons," said a third, without even a trace of irony.

The other side was a growing crowd. Chloe had started planning the counter-protest as soon as she knew the CAE would be here. It was spearheaded by Chloe's Demonic Student Union, but it had grown far beyond that as a social media phenomenon. She was running into people she'd never met before, shaking some of their hands every now and then. Many of them were neither students nor demons. A lot of the people here were her friends or classmates, sometimes even her teachers. They also had a photogenic middle-school kid from the academy with a sign that said "Let me call my mom on holidays," which would be banned if the rules proposed by the CAE became law. Chloe made sure that kid was near the front, where the reporters would be able to see him.

Megaphone in hand, Chloe led them in chanting "EQUALITY MEANS DEMONS TOO!"

As long as none of the lust demons got naked or made out and nobody from her side got violent, Chloe thought, this was going to be an easy victory for her cause. Despite their boldness and their ferocity, despite how quickly they had grown since the corn maze incident, and despite how effectively they had ruined Chloe and her father's life in the last few days, the CAE was a fringe group with extreme positions that would never become law. At least, that was what Chloe liked to think.

On the other side, local business owner Hunter McDougal could be seen, holding a sign that read "WE CAN'T LIVE TOGETHER." Unlike so many of his comrades for the day, he didn't care whether that girl or her criminal of a father had anything to do with the maze. From his years of experience as a Vampire Hunter, he knew that the world this "DSU" was fighting for was one doomed to fail. The corn maze just proved it: Demons and Humans can't live together in peace. Demons spent all of their time in hell for a reason, and that was because they were corrosive to any civilized society. As he saw it, the CAE was this island's only hope to steer itself away from disaster.

This takes place about a week after the Haunted Corn Maze ICC event.
Don't worry about any sort of posting order; a bunch of people have expressed interest in this sort of thread. Feel free to join it on either side, or as a reporter, or as part of the police.

Seeing the members of CAE really pissed Kaya off. It was these biased, misinformed, idiots that she really hated. Not all demons were evil in blood and bone, not all demons wanted to eat their souls. Some just wanted to live in peace. But the biggest part of this was if the whole demon ritual being banned, she wouldn't be able to provide a safe place for Sarah, Sylvia and their Daughter a safe haven from every demon that wanted to harm Kaya and those associated her.

It might even force herself to be separate from her lovers and her soon to come child. She refused to let that happen. Today she was sporting some dark looking 'yoga' pants and a loose black shadow silk shirt with the words 'I want to be in my Kid's life'. She couldn't remember if she talked to Chloe about it and they might need to converse later about it.

when Chloe began to chant she began to chant as well, "EQUALITY MEANS DEAMONS TOO!" Kaya wanted these human to understand that there were demons like her. They wanted a more normal life away from the Chaos of Hell.

Shiariel Haine
Shiariel was floating in the air majestic celestial wings as she watched the CAE and DSU meeting infront of town hall. There were contingencies in place if things began to devolve into violence. Shiariel was there because the PD was out in force today, with so much at stake to keep the peace there were too few normal officers so they had to pull even from the CSI and other special sections to give a proper show of Presence especially when these two groups were right next to each other protesting.

Being assigned to basically get a catalog of EVERYONE that showed up was certainly taxing and Shiariel was focusing more on that then anything right now so she pretty much ignored the insults being throw across the divide as she looked at each individual and gathered them all in her 'Database' of knowledge under a flag of 'Protest'. "All of this because of a stupid corn field..." Sure Shiariel had her own personal distaste of demons but her gut seemed to tell her that the accusation that a certain Chloe had assisted the farmer in trapping everyone there was unfounded. The distaste and vile taste she would normally get at the sound of the news had been surprisingly absent. That more often was reverse when considering Demons.

Malara's hands were still numb from the bebeatingaring she had given to her punching bags earlier in the morning. Stress relief, it had been, preparing her for the day. She didn't want to ruin things for Chloe by lashing out or getting violent. So what aggression she still had, she was planning to turn into snark.

She had dressed pretty casually for such a public event: a tank top underneath a cut off black tee shirt with red lettering reading 'HORNS ARE HOT' printed across the front, with a cutesy pair of horns on the 'H's' and a little arrow tipped tail coming off of the 'T'. Then there were a pair of shorts of actually reasonable length, almost enough to cover the black widow tattoo on her thigh. She was still barefoot, but then again she was almost always barefoot.
But the most noticeable thing about Malara was that her usually wild golden mane of hair was standing straight up as a two foot tall column of fire above her head.

She was live tweeting the event. Malara had a couple thousand followers on Twitter now, thanks to her modeling career and, admittedly, the sexy pictures she posted from time to time. But she intended to use this tiny fandom for good.
She walked around, snapping pictures of both her own side and the opposition, putting a comment under each.
A picture of some demon kids playing together near the back of the group with the line, 'Wow, kids playing. Soooo scary. NOT. #DSU #DemonsArePeopleToo'
Some pictures of the angry CAE protesters spitting and screaming with the caption, 'When the WAR goddess is pushing for peace, you've gone too far. #DSU #StopTheHate #DemonsArePeopleToo'
A picture of herself standing with a bunch of grinning protesters from her side, angled so her hair didn't block out most of the shot. 'Fighting hate with love. #DSU #DemonsArePeopleToo'
And finally a picture of some guy holding a sign that read WE CAN'T LIVE TOGETHER. 'LOL We already are, jackass. Where have you been? #DSU #DemonsArePeopleToo'

When she saw Chloe, Malara rushed to her friend's side and wrapped an arm around her for a hug. "Chloe! Hun! I'm so glad to see you. I promise I'll be in my best behavior today. I just want to help. Now smile for the camera, girl."
With that, Malara gave Chloe a quick peck on the cheek and then smiled at the phone in her outstretched arm. As soon as she saw Chloe smiling too, she snapped the picture and shared it on her Twitter. 'Our amazing, brilliant protest organizer. #ChloeBlack #DSU #DemonsArePeopleToo'

All Pandora had wanted was to get a little rest. Her own stress had been through the rough the last day or so and rather than spend the night cooped up in her apartment she had opted to find somewhere cozy to curl up for the night. As luck would have a very tree had stood outside of city hall, and it's wide branches and ample canopy had served her well in the past. So with little thought she had climbed up into it and comfortably fell asleep.

She had awoken however to the angry shouts of a mob surrounding what had once been her lovely bed. Her first thought was that they had come for her. finally all the killing had caught up to her and a mob had come to extract revenge. Thought after a moment she quickly came to realize that the mob had actually come to protest the demons living here on the island. Suddenly Pandora felt stupid, today was the day of the large rally Chloe had mentioned, and in her own tired state she had climbed a tree in the protesters area. She was now trapped behind enemy lines in a sea of angry protesters who had as of this point not noticed the large spider in the tree.

"This is absolutely fucking perfect. Pandora groaned to herself as she scanned the mob that had formed. They had signs and mega phones, and were shouting their stupid slogans at... It took her a second to realize that across the way Chloe was standing with her own Megaphone fighting back against the mob. Surrounding her were other demons and people supporting them. They had rallied in surprising numbers ready to fight for what they believed to be right. In the crowd of friendlies far out of the spiders reach she could even see Malara walking around with her head aflame. Not that it was easy to miss the goddess in any way.

Still though. Pandora was in a pickle of her own now. She couldn't exactly leave. If she made her presence known the crowd below would no doubt attack her on sight. She was trapped and forced to entertain herself for however long this took. She wasn't even in a position to fight her way out. She had after all made multiple promises, under duress, to not maim, murder or destroy the protesters. with that in mind she couldn't help but repeat her previous statement. "This is absolutely fucking perfect. She slouched down frustrated now watching things carry on, If she were lucky someone over there would see her.

[ Invidia ]

Never did in her life did Invidia imagine she could ever be out of the basement, let alone be here in the streets fighting for Demon rights. She joined the DSU to find comfort; people who would accept her for who she was, demon or not. She grew up with a mother spiting her existence and she was only starting to grow out of it. Invidia was at least aware that not every demon was bad, and she acknowledged that fact that sometimes, there were worse monsters than demons.

Today was the day of the rally. She dressed for the occasion, her hair was brushed up into a messy bun and her fringe now followed the flow of her horns, and wearing a dark tanktop after it left her markings visible to everyone. She still wasn't proud of it, but if she was standing to fight for her rights as a person and a half-demon then she might as well pull all the stops. She was scared she could mess up but she's spent most of her morning pumping herself up. She held up one of the signs that read I am DEMON! I am a PERSON!.

Standing close to the CAE protest made a chill run down her spine, but she made a choice to go out and join today; backing out seemed like a bad idea. Not if she wanted to get to stay outdoors as she pleased. She stood near the front where most could see her, joining the chanting of her group. She'd even snuck in a small (if not a little awkward) smile, when the flaming lady turned her camera to her general direction, alongside a few others.

Cecil Grey Lovette + Dorian Crawford

Cecil hated rallies for a multitude of reasons. First was the pervading air of hostility, which grated on him significantly because of his powers. Second, his PR group back in the US always told him to be politically neutral. He'd explained that to Dorian, and Dorian simply looked at him with wide, outraged eyes and said, "Cecil. You're a demon too."

Like hell he was. This thing was a curse. It's brought him nothing but trouble. He couldn't exactly go against Dorian, he dictated the terms of their contract, and he supposed having a celebrity among their numbers could help dissuade others from a lot. He put his best game face on. If he had doubts, it didn't show.

Dorian and Cecil pushed through the way and joined Chloe from where she was standing. "We're here with you, Chloe," Dorian said with a brilliant smile, and together they started chanting 'EQUALITY MEANS DEMONS TOO.'

Detective Felix Verma

What a mess, what a mess. Tiny mobs into full on riots, and Chloe decided it was time to turn and face the music. They had a shortage of arms in the Station, so even Felix was dressed up in riot gear to prevent a fight from breaking out.

Should he be politically neutral? Probably.

Did he already have a favored side? Yes.

Was he going to get in trouble for that? Definitely!

Good isn't always lawful. It was a personal mantra, and something that pushed him to act outside the law. He went into the PD to change things from the inside. Criminals were reprehensible, but so were cops. He needed to have some control over it, or else he would lose the ability to trust them entirely. He looked to the side and saw a couple of people screaming at each other's faces, one demon and one anti-demon protester. When it started resulting in shoving, Felix got in between and pressed the protester into the ground. "Hey!"

Shay, for all she'd been doing lately, hated crowds still. Furthermore, she hated the yelling and the aggression in the air had a way of bringing out... whatever it was in her that made her just want to shoot someone. She wasn't going to, mind you. No point here.

She was one of those kids who'd drawn up a sign reading 'LET ME KEEP MY PARENTS.' With a relaxing sigh, Shay had pushed her way closer to the front to meet the eyes of the opposite group. Looking around, there were quite a few people that she knew. In the end, Shay chose a spot next to Invidia, who she remembered as her sister, Irene, from the simulator.

She gave Vidia a gentle nudge and an equally tender smile. She wanted to keep this one. How did this woman act outside of the simulator, was she still as fun? As fiery? What had her life been like in the real world? These were all things Shay intended to find out in the coming days.

Vinanye had gathered members of the F.A.E club, along with some of the art students, and joined the protest for their communities Demons. It was strange when Vinnie had first been told about protests; the idea was entirely foreign. He had never seen such large riots that weren't about violence in the first place. It was almost more of a comfort when people began to push one and other.

Did things like this actually work? Was either side expecting to change the other's view? Was it about the people still on the line? To Vinanye, it seemed less about changing anyone's mind and more a show of comradery, which was easier for him to accept. Both his bosses were Demons, and he was friendly with many Demons in the community.

The Fae held up a sign that read 'Demons are people too' as he joined into the chanting. "Equality means Demons, too!"

Eliana had debated her presence at this protest. When she'd finally decided to come, she had to make a conscious effort to be on her best behavior; anything else would be detrimental to the cause.

The Demon had created her own sign, painting in a deep crimson red, with a design of horns and adorned with silver glitter. 'We belong here, too' it read.

It was actually pretty fucking fun; it reminded Eliana of a mosh pit, with less shoving and punching in the face, but whatever. Always taking the fun where she could get it, Eli was bouncing on her feet with her sign rose high over her head. She'd dropped the glamour in favor of her Demonic appearance.

The most misbehaving thing she did was wink at a few of the opposite protestors when they met her eyes. The idea that such a thing may disgust or scare them was a huuuge turn-on.

Addy wasn't a person who blindly followed what others believed in. She could definitely understand why people were skeptical about Demons. Just as much as she could understand why demons were tired if being stereotyped. Demons were always depicted as the bad guy and she was tired of it. Of course none of the CAE saw how hypocritical and biased they were being. She had been told that the island was supposed to be a place to fit in.

She didn't understand how people, all of them seeking acceptance and normalcy could treat other horrible. Addy really didn't want to be at the rally. She'd much rather be sleeping but she felt it was a good thing to so. She wore a shirt that stated 'Demon and Proud' on it and pushed towards the front.

She was much to tired to really say anything so she hoped her being their showed her support.

Invidia had mostly kept her eyes casted down, worrying if she'd look at anyone it might cause trouble, but she looked up when she felt someone move closer to her. Her initial reaction usually was to move away, but the familiar face that met her made her hesitate.

Shay? It had been a strange time, but she recalled having her for a sister for the simulation. Invidia found herself frozen in her spot. She'd made a quick get away right after the simultor had ended and didn't really talk to her. What was she supposed to say now? Hey there, sis. Haven't seen you since we beat those mad scientists, right? Ugh, no; too chummy. They're not even real sisters--they were just strangers until that game. They practically ran in the same circles but coincidence happens that they don't run into each other.

Invidia managed to crack a smile, a little hesitant than she would have preferred, but that was a start. "Things are going downhill with this anti-demon thing recently, huh?" Eh. She probably could have done better--still that was better than nothing.

Everything was going well so far, for Chloe. Between chants, she made it a point to shake hands with some important recent arrivals. There were a lot of club members and friends and family-friends around, and she couldn't think of getting to all of them.

First, Vinanye, who seemed to be in a male form today. "Hey, man!" she would say, "How are you? I'm glad you could bring FAE out." The exchange would be brief, and she would move on.

She posed for the selfie with Malara before talking to her. "Yeah, I appreciate you coming out! And thanks for doing the social media thing, it's invaluable like you don't even know. Keep it up."

Finally, Dorian and Cecil snuck up behind her. As that round of chanting drew to a close, she turned to them and shook their hands. "This is incredible!" She'd tell them, shaking their hands. "With you guys helping us out, I can see their numbers shriveling." She could see the discomfort on Cecil, so she looked right at him and said, "It really means a lot to us to have you here. Thank you."

Once again, she wouldn't have time to talk. Behind her, a small fight broke out. One of the demons she hadn't met before was getting into a fight with a CAE guy. Many of the other protestors couldn't see this. The two crowds had transitioned into a new set of chants: "KEEP THEM OUT" from the CAE group, "OUR HOME TOO" from the DSU. Chloe didn't know who got that started on her end; probably one of her other club-mates.

It didn't matter right now. As Felix pinned down the CAE guy, Chloe put her hand on the demon's shoulder to get his attention. "Hey! Don't let that happen again," she said. "This is a non-violent protest. Fighting looks bad on the news." A meaningful glance to some of the cameras, most of which hadn't gotten set up quite yet. The demon had a sheepish look about him, and she directed him behind the front lines of their crowd.

Chloe would just trust that her new associate here didn't also deserve trouble from the police, or else one of Felix's colleagues would be on him. It would look bad if the demon had started the fight; it'd seem to confirm some of those stupid conspiracy theories the CAE liked so much.
