Celeste had noticed the flickering emotions across Ebvion's face. They had gone easily from happy and excited to hesitant to finally, putting on a brave face. They were, at times, like an open book. Something Celeste adored about Ebvion. She loved how honest they were with their emotions and wished that sometimes Azure was as open with how he was feeling.

"Yes, of course, you can," she said to their question about the cart as she grabbed her house keys from a decorative stone bowl that Shale had made for her, and then, on an impulse, Celeste went over and gave them a little kiss on the top of their head. "You'll be fine, Ebviony. I won't let anything happen to you, I promise." she murmured reassuringly as she held out her hand to them.

"Let's go then," Celeste said with an encouraging smile as she led Ebvion out the front door, locked it and drove them both to the nearest grocery store. Thankfully, it was still rather early, and while there were people shopping and milling around, it wasn't as crazy busy as it could be.

Once they were inside the store, Celeste grabbed a cart with a seat chair, and then looked at Ebviony questioningly. "Ready?" she asked as she offered to help them into the chair.

Ebviony tried to be reassured by their foster mother's words, but their sense of foreboding never disappeared. All they could do was distract themself and put on a cheery exterior. Good thoughts bring good things. Usually.

After arriving at the grocery store, Ebviony hesitated when the time came for them to be lifted into the car. There wasn't enough room for them to fly up, however. They stretched out all four of their arms to let Celeste sit them in the cart. Once in, they fidgeted a bit, unsure if they were okay with how restrained they were now. But was the alternative was potentially getting lost in the enormous store.

After gently but firmly strapping Ebviony into the cart seat, Celeste looked at them and smiled patiently as they settle in and made themselves comfortable. "Here, let me loosen that strap a tad," she said as she readjusted one of the straps so that it wasn't so restrictive and allowed Ebviony a bit more freedom of movement.

"Okay, off to the baking aisle to grab some ingredients to make food fit for a tea party." Celeste said as she pushed the cart up and down a few aisles, grabbing some fresh fruit, eggs, milk, cream and butter along the way until they arrived at the baking aisle with was jam-packed with everything from brown sugar, coloured sprinkles, dried fruits and nuts to cupcake liners and cake toppers.

"Did you want to get down and help pick out the things we need?" Celeste asked Ebviony as she placed a bag of chocolate chips that were on sale in the cart.

Ebviony watched Celeste took the ingredients needed. Funny how people here needed to go through all this trouble to make a simple cake. They were too set in reality to take an easier option.

But Ebviony wanted to do things the "normal" way more often. It was hard to relate to people here with their weird ways of thinking and doing things. Since the people here were stubborn to change their ways, Ebviony decided to see what was so good about the other side.

Ebviony quickly shook their head when asked if they wanted to come out of their chair. They were finally getting comfortable, and it was much safer up here. "No no. Um... I can make butterflies to look for stuff we need. And... And..." Imagining a grabber in their hand, Ebviony tried to grab a cute bunny-shaped cake topper nearby. Instead, they knocked over a couple of cake toppers and caused a bit of a mess on the floor.

Celeste frowned a little when Ebviony made a grabber and used it to grab a cake topper and knocked everything down. Their shyness was understandable, and she knew Ebvion was trying to come out of their shell, so she found that she couldn't quite be angry with them.

"Tell you what," Celeste said, an idea coming to her as she stood next to Ebviony. "Why don't we clean that up together, but from here?" she explained.

"It can be a game," she added as Celeste flicked her hand - the hand gesture was actually quite unnecessary as she could do this mentally, but she wanted to show Ebviony it was her moving the items and not some unknown or scary force, "And we can each put a topper back in place," she suggested as she guided the topper back to the shelf using magic.

Ebviony flinched at Celeste's frown. They were just trying to help, but the cart wasn't lined up in a way to make it easy for them to grab things. Really, it was Celeste's fault for not considering that.

"From here? I can stay in the seat?" They asked hopefully. It seemed a bit pointless for Ebviony to attempt getting down from the cart anyway. They'd have to pick up what they knocked down, then hand it to Celeste because of how short they were.

Without waiting for an answer, they went to pick up one of the toppers they knocked over. This time, the grabber held on properly (not like it was possible to knock over things from the floor), and they managed to move it to back to the shelf.

"Of course, you can stay in the cart," Celeste said with an understanding look as she moved another topper from the floor magically, lifting her hand and making a movement to direct it to the shelf, placing it down next to Ebviony's.

After a few minutes of them taking turns as they cleaned up the aisle, Celeste grabbed a cake topper and gave it to Ebviony. "I am sorry, if I seemed upset," she said apologising to them, feeling that she shouldn't have been annoyed. "You were only helping, and I should have helped you get the toppers," she explained, gently caressing their cheek lovingly.

"What else should we get?" she then asked Ebviony deliberately pushing the cart a little closer to the shelves and turning it a bit so they could grab anything they wanted (within their reach) without too much trouble.

Celeste's apology caught Ebviony off guard and made them fidget with the frills on their dress to avoid eye contact. Apologies weren't a common thing back home... or anywhere in Underhill. How were they supposed to respond to one without being rude? Think. Think. The cultural classes and their therapist sessions explained how.

"It's... um..." They didn't feel okay, so it wasn't okay. "I-It was my fault too." they muttered. It threw their pride under the bus, but it was better than lying.

Ebviony's mood lightened somewhat as Celeste continued to shop. It made everything that happened earlier feel less important. "Oh, um, may I have the bottle that makes pretty frosting patterns when you squeeze? And sprinkles! Pink and white."

In reply to Ebvion's apology, Celeste just smiled pleasantly surprised, not having expected it at all, and gave their cheek a small peck. "Thank you, and it was both our faults, sweetheart," she told them kindly.

Then as she pushed the cart, she stopped when Ebviony asked for an icing bag with tips so she could decorate. Celeste had one at home, but she decided to get Ebviony one of their own. Handing them the bag, she also spotted some bottles of coloured icing and grabbed a bottle of each colour - pink, blue, yellow, red and green.

"Sprinkles... " she then murmured as she looked around her, and spotted them next to some small coloured candy stars, hearts and silvery balls. Looking then at Ebviony, Celeste grinned, "Should we get one of each?" she asked, thinking that having a child that ate nothing but sugar was a great thing.

Ebviony wrinkled their nose at the silvery balls. "No. Those are boring. Only the colorful ones. Colorful stuff taste better" Good food attracted the attention of everyone when it entered the room. Silver, no matter how sparkly, was boring to Ebviony when compared to the colorful options right beside it.

By now, Ebviony was starting to get impatient anyway. Shopping was fun, but now they were getting hungry and wanted to move and maybe go back to their room and play with their dolls. They kicked their legs to let out energy and looked around the store like something unexpected would happen to spice things up. All in all, Ebviony was starting to get fussy.
