Tasha let a small smile slip out. The fact that she was going to consider the offer after showing so much apprehension was a victory, a small one, but a victory none the less. She opened her phone for a moment and checked a message before sending a brief reply and setting it down on the bar.
"I actually am the owner of Wolf's Den Gym. I sunk a vast majority of my prior investments into moving and getting set up here. Land by the forest with a nice house doesn't come cheap, and then my gym took the rest. I wanted it to be just right."
Her phone buzzed on the bar top before Tasha grabbed it and sighed. She quickly sent another message back and tucked the phone away.
"Sorry. I was supposed to be meeting some friends here, but they are running late. But yea, I'm a personal trainer that actually does work. I sink about everything back into the gym for improvements or recommendations that guests mention they would like to see, or towards salaries and bonuses for employees."
A small smile came across her face and she chuckled.
"I guess you could say they are basically my pack now and I take care of my pack."

Malina nodded. It really raised her eyebrows to hear just how much Tasha was going all in on this whole gym business. She supposed Tasha would have plenty of time to build her wealth up again if it failed, but that would doubtless be a painful process.

She nodded a little when Tasha described her employees as her new pack. "I see. And are these friends you're meeting here your people from the gym?"

Once Tasha had confirmed this, Malina would continue: "Would you mind if I stayed and met them?"

The best way Malina could think of to measure Tasha's character would be to see how her 'pack' behaved around its alpha. At the very least it would give her the chance to spot some red flags.

Tasha was taken aback for a moment when Malina asked to stay to meet her friends. A smile came on her face as she nodded quickly.
"Sure. I'm sure they'd love to meet you. Especially Melissa. She's a talker."
Tasha chuckled and they continued talking for a few moments before a lithe blonde walked in accompanied by a buff grey skinned man with horns atop his head. Tasha raised a hand to them and the blonde quickly pointed with a big smile and almost ran over to her.
"Hey you two. Glad you aren't late like this to work," Tasha quipped as she stood and hugged the blonde.
"I know I kknow but Cedric had to make sure his hair was fine."
The blonde laughed and Tasha joined in as Cedric merely huffed before bowing slightly to Malina.
"Oh right. Malina this is Melissa, and that is Cedric. You two, this is Malina. Melissa is my resident nutritionist and Cedric was the first personal trainer I brought on."
Tasha left off last names intentionally, giving Malina the chance to make the claim if she wanted to, but before she had a chance, Melissa extended an excited hand with a big smile on.
"Oh. Oh! It's nice to meet you!"

It couldn't have been too hard for Tasha's entourage to connect the dots. Even if these two didn't have a strong sense of smell, Malina looked like she might have been Tasha's little sister, aside from the wolf features. They even had similar hairstyles, by sheer coincidence.

Malina took Melissa's hand and shook. "Yeah! It's nice to meet you both, too."

Neither of them seemed to be werewolves, which was a good sign. It meant they were probably going along with Tasha because they wanted to and not because of whatever culty or pheromonal bullshit her father used to keep people around. It was also a good sign that they were coming out to hang out with her at the bar, now that she thought of it.

But Malina had no doubt that if she stuck around for a little while longer, she would see those little red flags roll their way up. Until then, Malina would keep up her good behavior.

"Tasha and I are distant relatives, actually. Same last name. We were just talking about family trees and what a crazy coincidence it is that we'd run into each other out here."

It was close enough to the truth - and it sounded like the kind of conversation two humans could have had. Old habit. Before she left the pack, she might have called these two 'outsiders.'

Tasha was pleasantly relieved when Malina openly talked about their relation. It would completely get rid of having to skirt the issue, or worry about stepping on toes. She seemed open enough to the idea of being related to what amounted to a complete stranger.
"Really?! Tasha has family?! That's awesome. I thought all she ever did was work or workout."
The blonde chuckled as she sat down with the two werewolves, having no hesitations. Tasha, on the other hand, stayed quiet and let her friend and newly found relative chat a bit without interruption.
"Don't you work for the forest service or something like that?" Cedric spoke up finally, taking a seat as well before ordering himself a drink. Tasha looked to Cedric with a curious look before looking back to Malina to let her answer.

For a split second, alarm bells went off in Malina's head. How would Cedric here know that she was a forest ranger? Oh, right - she'd met a lot of people while she was out wearing her uniform over the years. It helped that she hadn't visibly aged all this time. It made sense someone would recognize her.

"Yeah. Forest ranger. I usually patrol out along the edge of the forbidden forest, actually. I've been at it for 15 years, and it hasn't gotten old yet. Plenty of fun stories to tell about it, too."

If they asked for one, she'd probably tell the story of that nature godling who kept destroying their fire lines until Malina managed to track her down. That was her favorite story to tell, after all. The trap they'd set for the girl was Malina's idea, too.

Cedric nodded and said nothing in response. His usual stoic self on full display. Tasha smiled and shook her head a little. He had a bad habit of leaving conversations hanging.
"Cedric grew up on the island and is really good with faces. Not surprised he at least recognized you with you being here for so long."
Melissa, in classic form, had ordered a watered while they were talking and was sipping on that when she got an excited face. Melissa loved stories. She constantly had people at the smoothie bar talking for hours.
"Oh! Do tell do tell! You know, Tasha lives at the edge of the woods. Must be great for all the full moon stuff. Hey, what's that like? Just going out for runs and what not like that? Are you two going to go together...."
Melissa would have continued on had Tasha not cleared her throat and looked over to her with a smile.
"Let her answer some before bombarding her further."
"Yea. Sorry. I just get excited with new people."

Melissa sure was a curious one. Malina found it endearing, more than anything. She was like a pup, or an enthusiastic recently-turned member of her pack, almost.

"Well, it's not just going for a run. I will be turning into a -" she said something in an ancient Gernamic dialect, then clarified: "A wolf-person, and my wolfen instincts will be coming to the forefront. These days I usually eat a big dinner so I don't feel like hunting, then I give myself a lot of space to just..." she shrugged, "Let it run free. But as far as whether I'll be spending that time with Tasha - I would want to get better acquainted with her first. It is... more vulnerable than many people imagine it to be."

Tasha would surely understand that hangup. The two had literally just met.

Melissa sat quietly as Malina explained what happened on full moons. When she was done, the blonde turned to Tasha with a face that clearer said 'Why did you never tell me this?' Tasha shook her head with a small smile.

"You never asked. And as Malina said, it is more vulnerable than most people realize. The more prying eyes I have that might want a peak at wolf me, the more of a chance of something going wrong."
It was an excuse. Tasha was pretty much in control at full moons at this point, but it aided her in continuing to be distanced from other werewolves who might look to her to build up a pack. Even though she had thought about it countless times, she couldn't shake her past and what happened.
"Besides, you two complain about a full work day, you really think you could do a full work day, and then go for an all night romp in the woods?"
Tasha was intentionally trying to change the subject away from Malina joining her. That was something they would need to work through in private.
"I already have to remind myself I need to do cardio and not just lift. I don't want to do more than I need to."

Malina stayed for about half an hour longer. They spoke, and sometimes they laughed.

She steered the conversation a few times towards Tasha's relationship with her two employees. What was it like working for her, that sort of thing. She didn't notice any hesitation or red flags. Tasha didn't seem to intimidate them, either.

Eventually, they said their goodbyes.
