That was a huffy reply. Hal expected she was going to be dodgy but not that much. He supposes he didn't expect she was that conscious of... well, what she looked like. The fact stands that she looks less human than everyone he's encountered in the island and Hal didn't figure it would be insensitive of him not to consider she wasn't all that comfortable about looking like an 'abomination of nature', as she puts it.
"If you have time to worry about what you look like, don't you think there's a reason why I still need to ask why you're here in this school?" Hal retorted. A pause; a heavy sigh. Curiosity killed the cat, but in this case, the calm mood.
"Alright, fine. We're done here." he said, "I'm sorry if that question was too much but everyone in this school has some crazy magic or two and I don't really think looking like a medical mystery case counts."
Hal said that without much thought and let go of Chloe's arm. He turns around right after, "See you around, I guess."
