Besides the lake and his dorm, people know that if you want to find Austin Adam Thomas, you look in the music room.

Austin will be in that room for five or more hours, playing with all the instruments that can be found, and the great thing about it, is that almost nobody comes to it.

Wearing just a plain white t-shirt and black pants, he walked around the room, trying to decide between playing with the six stringed banjo the school had, or the just with the keyboard, one of his personal favorites that he likes playing.

He decided on the keyboard in the corner of the room, covered in a thin layer of dust.

Austin sat down and rested his fingers on the keys for a second, thinking of a song that he can play. Finding a song, he started singing, "Since my heart is golden I've got sense to hold in. Tempted just to make an ugly scene. No I'm not as proper. My money's in copper. Ripped down from the browns-"

He stopped, his eyes wide, sensing an eavesdropper close to his room. Terrified, he asked in a timid voice, "Who's there?"

Alistair found himself wandering the halls of the school for the umpteenth time. Typically, the faculty didn't like him on the school grounds. After all, he wasn't a registered student and more than once he had been caught hacking into the school's computer database. It wasn't like he intended any harm - quite the opposite in fact - but the staff certainly wouldn't assume that.

As he passed by one of the rooms on the second floor, he heard music emanating from behind the door. Out of curiosity, he leaned closer to listen to it. Seemed like he made too much noise, though, for whoever it was behind the door called him out on it.

Alistair opened the door and stepped inside. "Good evening, friend." He said, closing the door behind him. "Sincere apologies, for I intend not to interrupt. However, I found your song to be most entertaining." He made a formal bow with a sincere smile upon his face. Austin was probably still a bit new to the school, but he may have heard the rumors of a 'handsome man that talks funny and who is hated by the teachers'. If he had, then the chances were probably good that this was that man.

Alistair thought for a moment, and then decided to introduce himself so as to not be rude. "My name is Alistair Fordren."

Talk about a random guy coming out of nowhere...

"Good evening, friend."

Friend, he heard. How could this guy, a random stranger, just listen in on Austin and then just stroll in and call him a "friend?" But still, Austin didn't like to be rude, so he just muttered, "Good evening."

The boy sized up the new man, he was slightly shorter than Austin, and he very handsome, even Austin had to admit. And then Austin blushed, hearing that the new guy liked his song.

"Er... Well thank you," Austin stuttered, and felt his cheeks get even redder. He wasn't used to getting a compliment, especially one particularly on his music.

"My name is Alistair Fordren." Austin heard the man say.

The name briefly registered with him, he's heard of this guy before. He was the man, that wasn't a student but still walked the hallways. He apparently talks "weird" and almost every teacher that Austin knows hates him. Austin wondered why that is...

"Nice to meet you Alistair Fordren. My name is Austin Thomas," He said, his voice still shaking a little from his nerves.

"Ah, a pleasure to meet you, Mister Thomas." He said sincerely. He could tell that this person was a bit uncomfortable just by being near him. Alistair had the capability to sense the emotions of those around him, although it was a very broad ability. Not that he needed this ability to be able to tell Austin was nervous, it was obvious just by looking at him. He didn't know that Austin, too, had an empathy ability. Although to Austin, Alistair's emotions would rarely ever carry any sort of 'negative feel' to them (such as anger or sadness). Even now, it was a mixture of excitement and happiness. There was certainly nothing malicious coming from him in any sort of manner.

He took a few steps closer while looking around the room. "It appears this room is not used often, based upon the layers of dust and other signs of abandonment. Perhaps few others enjoy making music such that you do?" He shrugged. "In fact, I cannot recall many times noticing students in this particular room, granted I have only visited but a few times." Alistair nodded as he crossed his arms, giving off a sense that he was thinking about something.

"May I ask the name of the song you were just singing, Mister Thomas?" He asked out of his own curiosity.

It was odd. Austin could tell this man could feel Austin's feelings; so does that mean that this man is also a shifter? All he could feel from Alistair was a radiation of excitement and happiness, which Austin found very peculiar.

The only thing Austin did was shrug his shoulders, "Not very many people know about this room," as all he said, but then thought privately to himself, or I'm the only one who cares...

Austin chuckled, of course this man wouldn't know the song. Most people wouldn't; all they want is that Beaver guy. But then again, Austin wasn't too sure what kind of music Alistair would listen to. "Uh, the song that I was singing was Carried Away by Passion Pit," he replied, looking at the keys of the piano. "But I did change around some of the notes and notes, just playing around with the song," he added.

Austin was very curious of this strange man, so he asked him, "What genre of music do you listen to?" He could almost always tell what kind of person they were just by the type of music they listen to.

When Austin told Alistair the name of the song as well as the group that originally created it, all he said in response was, "I see." After all, he had heard of neither. Not that the chances of him recognizing the song or the artist was very high in the first place. He was too ignorant of the world to know such things.

"Genres of music...?" He considered Austin's words for a moment. "I am afraid I cannot provide an answer to such a question. I was unaware that music was categorized in such a fashion." He looked around the room, as if searching for an answer. "Perhaps more research on the subject should be conducted? May I ask, what genre does this Carried Away by a Passion Pit fall under?" No, that was no accident. He truly thought Carried Away by a Passion Pit was the full title of the song. He was unaware that Austin had given him the name of the song and the name of the group at once.

This would likely be a rather unusual situation; since Alistair's manner of speaking and polite demeanor certainly gave off an air of intelligence. However, his clear lack of knowledge on this entire subject would definitely be considered strange to an individual.
