Private Can Plants Get Drunk?

"Of course. What do you take me for?" Kal mumbled. He may love to get in a little bit of trouble here and there but he always had it out with someone who was willing to fight him back all the same. In his opinion, bullies were the worst kind of people.

"Oh, I so that's what a pansy looks like," Kalvin said, looking down at the flowers that were far too close to him to really see well. He distanced his face a little, stretching his neck out so he could see the flowers better. "Huh. They're kinda pretty, I guess," he added.

His gaze went up to the blooming bud on Carmin's head. The beginnings of the purple petals were coming out now. Again, the thought of a sped up video from a nature show crossed his mind. Only this time, it's in person and actually blooming at that speed. "That's really interesting. So do pansies bloom as fast as the one on your head?"

Kalvin chuckled a little as he was called silly. He shifted Carmin in his arms, not feeling any fatigue in them yet. "No offense, but I'm not really the kind of guy who stops to appreciate flowers. With that said, I know even less about flower species. You'll forgive me if I'm a little slow on how they grow," he joked.

He was impressed at the quickness of the growth of the pansies on his body. Carmin's comment about the flower on his head was somewhat confusing to Kalvin, though not as confusing as his glee in something Kalvin didn't quite know. "Can't you feel the flower on your head growing?" he asked instead of asking about what Carmin found funny. "I mean, it's been growing steadily for a while now."

"You don't have a sense of feel for things?" Kalvin asked, his brows raising. He's kind of surprised and impressed at the same time. Heck, knowing that, he's actually more curious about Carmin. Having no sense of feel at all, that must be great.

He was pulled out of his thoughts when Carmin began laughing again. "Um, yeah. Wait. Does that mean this is the first time the flower on your head got taken? Or fell off?" It would explain why Carmin wouldn't know how fast--or maybe slow, compared to the ones on his body--the pansy on his head grew.

"If you look at it right now, it seems like all it needs is a bloom." Kalvin paused just outside the window of an empty classroom where Carmin could see his reflection.

Kalvin observed the flower on the reflection as well, awaiting its bloom. He didn't know what was going through Carmin's head when he began laughing again but he did know that something was wrong with the kid's sudden silence and lack of movement. Kalvin felt even more concern for the plant man when he went limp in his arms. The disconcerting part about that was how his eyes were still open though.

"What the--" Kalvin mumbled before his instincts kicked in and he began rushing to the infirmary. He'd seen a lot of terrible injuries and unexpected blackouts but, obviously, this one was very unique from those cases. As he made his way into the building, he began shaking Carmin. "Hey! Hey, Carmin! Wake up!" he was saying with every shake of the plant body.

At one point, he almost tripped. He jumped to avoid falling forward with Carmin still in his arms. That was when Kalvin remembered that it wasn't illegal to use his abilities in here. He took a second to look at the hallway. It was mostly clear up ahead. Kal took a half second to crouch down, not bothering to stop his forward momentum. As he was falling forward, he clipped Carmin close to his chest so he felt minimal impact from the jump. As he did, Kalvin also made it so that he was considerably lighter than his normal weight. Then, in a heartbeat, he and his seemingly unconscious companion were zooming through the length of the hallway in a powerful forward leap. Kalvin then stopped the momentum of the leap as he reached the end of the passageway where the infirmary doors lay open and waiting. "Help!"

The nurse had jumped up from her desk in quick response. Kal wondered if she often got to take care of cases in need of immediate aid. She certainly seemed unfazed by his sudden arrival at the door. Just as she got closer to him to check on Carmin, he woke up. This made Kalvin jump a little.

He looked down at the plant person. He was confused at the other's confusion. It had gone over his notice that Carmin was looking at him with unfamiliarity and speaking in the same manner. "Are you sure though? Can you stand now?" he asked, not willing to really set him down until he was sure that Carmin was alright. The nurse instructed Kalvin to set Carmin down at the infirmary bed but Kalvin only nodded at that.
