Euna’s light footsteps rang against the deck of the small ship as she ran to the prow. There! She stood on tiptoe and leaned forward over the railing. Those green shapes floating on the ocean on the horizon must be the Manta Carlos Islands. She resisted the urge to jump up and down and whoop. It was a great day, the trip went smoothly, and she hasn’t had to punch someone in the face ever since she left home. She let the breeze and the excitement wash over her for a moment while she leaned over the ship's rail, the wing messing up her already fluffy brown hair. Though the day was rather warm, a woolen tartan scarf lay around her neck, swaying with the breeze.

The moment the ship reached the docks, she let out a little scream, her feat doing an excited jig. <font color="DarkRed">”We’re heeeeere!”</font> She grabbed her luggage and raced to the ramp, nearly knocking over two other students laden down with their bags. Upon reaching the ramp, she immediately paused.

...Nah. There are too many people around. Suitcase-surfing would be fun, but she could hurt someone, or worse. She took a moment before walking down the ramp like a "normal person."

She checked her bearings before walking towards the building that was Starlight Academy, as quickly as was socially acceptable. She immediately approached the admissions desk, knocking at least two people aside, and handed in a folder filled with everything she needed for enrollment: her admissions form, some documents, and so on. “Euna Coneely,” she said, before the admissions officer could say anything. “I just got here! I’m so excited, this place has class! Well, not that kind of class; or I guess you can say it has <i>two</i> types of class, but you know what I mean, right?” She balanced on the balls of her feet excitedly, resisting the urge to laugh at her own joke.

Anastasia was always the kind of person who enjoyed... well, politeness. Almost everyone was 'Sir' or 'Ma'am' to her, and unless someone was really, really mind blowingly rude, she was going to be polite to people anyway. Honestly, even people who were rude weren't likely to get much more than a glare from her.

She was starting to wonder if she should be glaring at everyone in the reception area. Things seemed to be taking forever. She'd already been there once the first time around, and it had taken ages then. Coming back was the last thing she'd wanted, but it had been necessary to pick up a piece of paperwork that was mentioned in her welcome package, but not actually included.

She was second in line (again) when someone very roughly shoved past her. She wasn't knocked down, but she nearly was, catching herself and straightening up. Not a teacher. Not a member of the staff rushing in for some emergency. No, just a student - a student a foot and a half shorter than her - who had decided that they would be first in line.

She didn't put her hands on the girl, as much as she sorely wanted to, but she was not going to be ignored either.

"Perhaps you missed that myself and the man speaking to the receptionist were in line?" She declared loudly, opting to simply pretend that the girl in front of her was just very stupid. Or maybe blind, unable to physically see the line of people. Or maybe she was from some place that did not have lines, wherever that would be. Either way, she wasn't going to tolerate it. There was no excuse for nearly pushing people over rushing past them to get to a place you weren't even supposed to be.

Euna turned around with a jump. She didn't notice the line of people meandering towards the front door. She looked up at the speaker, her words finally registering in her mind. A dull flush rose up her neck and over her ears, barely concealed by her scarf.

"Well,<i>wow</i>, sorry. Didn't see all of you there." She stared up at the unhappy lady in line, subconsciously mouthing the words "<i>didn't have to be so</i> rude" subconsciously to her face. It wasn't even technically her first day and she managed to get in someone's hair. Great.

Euna awkwardly stepped aside for the person at the desk to finish up, leaving her document folder on the counter. She glanced up at the tall girl, and resisted the urge to stick her tongue up at her. Instead, she pulled her scarf up higher, just in case she started muttering to herself again.

Stereotyping as it was, her first thought was that the girl was probably American. She hadn't actually met any American's back in Russia, but the stereotypes about them were clear enough: No respect for other people, always putting themselves first. She was entirely wrong, but it wasn't like she had any way of knowing that.

It wasn't hard to tell that the girl thought she was being... what, rude? Rude for telling her there was a line? Anastasia thought she'd done decently enough at not being rude outright by demanding she get in line, but she was operating through a language barrier that killed any sort of subtlety she might have.

She edged forward, refusing to let the other girl get in front of her in line. She had been waiting, and... well, that was all there was. She waited, the girl didn't, and she wasn't going to let someone who didn't belong butt in front of her.

Euna stood her ground, though she edged closer to the counter, and to her folder of documents. She wasn’t about to let her through easy after being so rude, even if she did have a point about Euna’s butting in line.

The person at the counter finished up and thanked the clerk before walking away. “Next,” the desk lady called, her voice trailing off when she saw two people at the head of the line, sparks flying from between their eyes. Euna glanced at the counter lady and back to the person in line, before backing off one step, a sour look on her face.

“Well, <i>go on,</i> next-person-in-line,” she all but spat, glaring up at the person in line and scuffing at the ground with her toe. Her folder was left on the counter, just as an added barb.

As far as Anastasia was concerned, the girl behind her was the rude one. She might have been content to just walk up to the counter had she not been ever so rudely prompted to do so.

So Anastasia smiled. Because, of course, her time did not actually matter. She was in no rush. If she went second in line it would be absolutely no skin of her back, and she'd much prefer to embarrass someone who had been rude to her.

"Oh no, you should go first. I know you must have an emergency, or else you would not have pushed people out of the way!" Passive aggressive and not entirely correct - she hadn't been pushed, but had been knocked out of the way. But it would do exactly what it was intended to. Either she would go ahead and be embarrassed, or else be forced to admit she'd been rushing for the sake of rushing.

She didn't actually consider there might be an actual emergency, because if there had been, surely the girl would say as muhc.

Euna cringed inwardly at Anastasia’s smile. It wasn’t the type she saw on bullies (before she kicked them into the dust), but the type she saw on movies when the smart bad guy revealed just the right amount of information to scare the protagonist out their wits. Had she not been standing her ground against a stranger in a room full of people, she would have shrugged with a flat “meh.”

“You were in line, weren’t you? Just go on and take your place. Go on!” Euna didn’t comment on the emergency bit. It would have been exactly what this person would have wanted, she knew. She jerked her head towards the counter lady, whose expression lay somewhere between boredom, amusement and irritated impatience. Along the line, people were sticking their heads out of the queue, wondering what was causing the hold-up and raised voices.

And that was that. As far as Anastasia was concerned, she'd won. It was painfully passive aggressive and not at all mature, but it was still a victory, and Anastasia enjoyed claiming those little victories. She smiled in what she hoped was a polite way (but was likely just even more passive aggressive), and stepped up to the counter to do her business. It was not going to be a particularly lengthy exchange. The document she was missing was a standard one, and the receptionist simply had to retrieve an extra copy from one of the filing cabinets.

It didn't take more than a minute, and Anastasia had her paper and was ready to go.

Did she want to make a parting shot? No, probably not. She could certainly be passive aggressive (or even aggressive) at times, but she tried not to be petty. The situation had resolved itself, and the girl had no doubt realized that shoving people out of the way was rude. So no, no need for further comment, and unless she was stopped (perhaps by another tiny bug-person), she would be on her way back to the dorm.

Euna watched the tall person walk away and resisted the urge to stick her tongue out at her. There were people looking curiously at her from the line, but she paid them no heed. Instead, she picked up her file, and went to the back of the line. Once she was there, she picked up her scarf and wrapped it around her neck a few times so that half her face was buried in cotton tartan.

She wasn't prepared to say that she had lost to some stranger, but hell if she was going to make such a disastrous entrance at this school.
