Today's call out to the wharf was the third warehouse fire in almost as many weeks. Ivana was sure that it was kids practicing fire magic, but could not prove it. Or not until they had footage of the events, and so far none of the semi-abandoned buildings had security footage. And thus, her fire reports contained only the basic detail and it frustrated the heck out of her.

Pulling into the lot with her men and the fire truck blaring its sirens, Ivana flinched and raised her arm instinctively as the roof suddenly exploded off the building, rocking the ground around it as it blew debris into the air. The firey blast could be felt a good hundred meters away.

"Holy freakin' mother of dragons," she swore loudly as she quickly jumped down off the trunk and ran towards the building already geared up and ready to go.

Ivana hoped to hell that it had not been kids fooling around, a blast like that, well, it could only be something bad. Really bad. It felt like a gas explosion and those were often terrible things to put out. Especially if there was a source feeding it somewhere.

Another nice day for a ride on her Machine Tornador, following the roads along the coast, and hopefully things would stay this calm... But no, an explosion made her skid to a stop and look for the source. Couldn't have been too far, Basté, and she had her helmet on! Didn't take long to see where it came from, she went past the source minutes ago! But there was nothing wrong back then, so why now?

Finishing her U-turn, she went at full speed back to the source of the smoke that hung in the air. As she got much closer she noticed debris about , including some on the road, and the firefighters were already here. "This kind of fire... what was it my father would tell about it again? I think... It was that it hit a gas tank or something? That means it might be toxic.", skidding to a stop near the fire truck, Basté hopped off and darted towards the building.

"I'm going in, control the fire and diminish it carefully while I will identify the source and rescue victims if there are any!", how could she even speak with smoke on her face like that? In a moment, that was the least important question, as clear serpents could be seen slithering about around her and then tightening into a lizardman-like wind aura, pushing all fire, heat and smoke away as she would recklessly enter the building.

Ivana was already making her way, quickly but with extreme practiced caution, into the burning building, checking along the way with a portable gas monitor for the presence of gas in the air or leaking from somewhere nearby. She was still wary that the explosion hadn't been magical and there was an unknown source that could go off at any moment.

"Whoa, where are you going?" one of the firefighters said as they tried to grab the arm of the girl who had just arrived on the scene. "You can't go in there. It's way too dangerous," he told her even as she was transforming. "You need to get back behind the line with the others where it's safe."

"I cannot sit back here and wait. If there's any toxic substance in the air in there, I can push through, believe in me.", why was she doing this?! Basté herself wasn't sure, it is almost as if she wanted to be like her father, experience what he experienced, or just couldn't bear the possibility of something worse happening. Her memories of officials informing her mother, siblings, and herself of Ezan Bywan's passing...

"Sorry, but I must go in no matter what.", it was hard but not impossible to get a grasp on her, the "barrier" shaped like a lizardman around her made it easier for her to slip through their grasp. "You can call me out on my recklessness later, but for now just believe, okay?", there was no way she would stand behind the line and wait, no. But first thing was to find whoever was already in there, be it a victim or a firefighter.

"No, no, no, don't. Don't go. Stay back... Dammit..." Itxi, the firefighter who had tried to stop Bastet, called out after her in frustration. Watching the girl, who had transformed into some sort of lizard, take off towards the building, made him frown and swear again. Ivana was gonna be pissed, really pissed to know that a civilian had made it past the safe line.

"Chief..." Itxi called as he turned on the radio in his helmet, "You got a GS coming in," he told her, waiting for Ivana to answer back.

"What the...?" Ivana said as she stopped moving for a second, the fire billowing around her, and waved to Carl who had followed in after her. "What do you mean? You know civilians can't break the safe line," she groaned, clearly peeved now. That is all she needed. To worry about a rash civilian wanting to help out.

"I know, mum, but she took off before I could stop her. She's coming in a three o'clock," Itxi informed Ivana as he moved the hose and started spraying water near the top roof part of the building.

Basté trusted her gut feeling to guide her around, in hope to come across a civilian that may be stuck in the warehouse, or another firefighter that is in. Unknowingly, it was bound to lead her towards Ivana, maybe sooner than later, but she kept a keen eye on anyone else. If she could help, if she could save, she would.

"Please let there be no civilians involved. Please let there be only a source of leak of gas at worst.", she kept hoping for things to not get bad, and sure soon enough she would be within visual range of Ivana. Bastet would be visible under a different spectrum, the light of the flames pushing through the aura surrounding her mostly concealed her human nature, but a thing was clear, and it was that flames could not touch her.

'There she is,' Ivana said to Carl, using the microphone in her fireman's helmet when she spotted the entity coming towards her. She instinctively knew it had to be the Good Samaritan because Ivana had just checked out that part of the building and it had been clear.

"You over there!" Ivana called out in a very authoritative tone as she removed her oxygen mask for a moment, "You can't be in here."

"It's way too dangerous," she continued while she gestured Carl over, "Lieutenant Mason here will escort you out," she told Bastet just as another smaller blast went off and rocked the warehouse.

"Get her out of here, Carl. NOW!" Ivana ordered as two more firefighters came running forward, ready to do battle with the inferno at hand.

Shouldn't really? Basté was starting to believe it, that she should just leave, but when the smaller blast rocked the warehouse, her wind sense reacted. Something unseen disturbed it, but what? Instinctively she inhaled deeply and scrunched. "There's a toxic leak at my 7 'o clock, seems to be a bug poison, it is going airborne as we speak! (And rotten lemons too! Urgh!)", but how could she-

"I can detect impurity in the air, poison, gasses, you name it, without being affected by it. So please, use me to track any hazard that may wind up diluted in the smoke and even nearby atmosphere.", those were her exact words, to use her, as if she were a detection tool. Similar to her father, Basté carried this interesting ability related to air immediately surrounding her, protecting her.

Unfortunately, Ivana was highly skeptical about Bastet's ability mainly because none of the buildings were even registered to contain within their premises, pesticides. In fact, all but a few pesticides were banned on the island due to the huge environmental impact, not only on the land and the beings that lived off of it but on the inhabitants too.

"Carl," Ivana said as she looked at her lieutenant questioningly, needing a second opinion since they were wasting time, precious time in her opinion, on someone that should not even be in the burning building in the first place.

But before Ivana could say anything, another explosion at the opposite end rocked the building, "Dammit all," Ivana shouted, her attention on the fire and not on Bastet anymore, as she waved her men through. "Careful, use extreme caution," she called out as she looked at Carl and then at Bastet and shook her head.

"I don't have time to argue," Ivana shouted, "You need to get to safety," she yelled as she took off leaving the girl behind. "Carl!!" Ivana shouted, "Let's go!"

(Sorry, Ivana, in good conscience and because she could lose her job, she can't let Bastet go into the fire with her that said, feel free to act however you want. : ) )

That was trouble... Yet another explosion, and there was still the toxic substance dilemma. But as Ivana hurried in the opposite direction, Basté assumed she could use the opportunity of getting to safety in order to get the drum outside, and following the hazardous smell she did see the fire dangerously close to it. "Doesn't seem to contain combustible substance... Hm... A few rotten lemons right next to it.", as she evaluated it, she tried picking it up...

It was lighter than she expected, and she knew why: it was leaking near the bottom. Seeing the top was sealed, the flipped it and began carrying it outside, taking the safer path she could find, rushing her steps and gripping it firmly. Once outside, she would set the drum down at a safe distance and say "This was in there, pesticide, dunno how old it is but could be bad if it burned any further."

"I couldn't detect any other source of toxic substance, but judging by what was close to it, this has been either placed there recently or neglected for a while."
, and looking back at the warehouse, she couldn't help but feel concerned, less so now, but still they were in there... "I hope they are okay..."
