"I have excellent vision, thank you very much."
Shul humphed and tried to look pouty but broke out on a grin soon enough. He couldn't stay serious with Sark, and it did not bother him in the slightest.
"And didn't we agree I'm always right?"
Shul pointed Sark to his chest in turn and laughed.

Shul hadn't actually thought he would be able to make Sark fall. But, like Sark exclaimed, Shul went down with him. Shul yelped again a little, this time on a more manly pitch, as he felt the gravity do it's job. They fell down and thankfully there was just sand and no rocks to soften their fall. They fell on their side so half of Shul was on top of Sark. Again Shul didn't get up right away but he slid off of Sark and lay on the sand, laughing and giggling. After a while he turned to grin at Sark, whether he was still on the ground or standing.
"Oh man, I didn't think that'd actually work. You have been defeated by a mighty dragon, Sark."

"I was talking about your mind eyes, you fool." He snickered as he spoke because the idea of mind eyes already made him wish he could cry of laughter. He really enjoyed hearing Shul laugh, even though both of them had laughed a lot during their outing. He then nodded, snickering. "Fine, fine, you're always right." He shrugged in defeat.

Sark fell onto the sand, and even if there were to be rocks beneath them, he would've probably pulled Shul so Sark would land on the rocks and not Shul. He laughed as Shul landed, oofing a bit as he landed on Sark. But then he continued laughing as he looked at Shul while also remaining on the ground. "Well, if the dragon is you, I don't think I mind." He spoke like he had a smile in his voice.

Then Sark's own laughter faded into silence. He just listened to Shul as he looked at him. He really wanted to touch Shuls face, right now. He... didn't really understand. His mind faded to some memories, but they never went near to the sad times or when he died. He just thought of...
He extended his hand towards Shul's face, his fingers gently brushed Shul's cheek.

Shul grinned at Sark, blushing a little, when he said he didn't mind Shul defeating him.
"Come now, where is your warrior spirit? Are you going to let a fluffball like me defeat you?"
Shul laughed and lightly punched Sark's arm. This thing called "warrior spirit" was nonexistent within him.
Shul wondered why Sark went quiet suddenly and looked at him, mouth open and ready to ask, when Sark touched his fingers lightly to Shul's cheek.

Shul didn't freeze, not exactly. It was more like tensing, and then relaxing. Because Sark's touch was really gentle, and Shul wondered how a warrior, a soldier, could be so gentle.
Sark's fingers should've been cold on Shul's skin but they left warm traces wherever they touched. Shul's face melted into a gentle smile as he looked at Sark. He didn't have a face. And yet Shul saw him. Shul leaned into Sark's touch a bit, closing his eyes for a brief second. Memories flooded his mind as well, memories of warm mornings in Italy, rainy afternoons in Denmark and foggy evenings in England. Shul wondered if he could add this moment among the others as he opened his eyes a moment later. He looked at Sark, question in his eyes, and gently touched Sark's hand if it still remained on his face.

Sark would've usually did some kind of sarcastic reply back to Shul, like he had a warrior spirit but was just taking a break. He could've said a lot of things in reply, but he didn't He seemed too absorbed in what he was doing. His hand remained on Shul's face, he barely registered what he was doing, really.

For the first time in a while, everything just faded from memory. The only thing that really felt real was seeing Shul in front of him. He felt so warm as he looked at Shul, and felt that he would probably punch the sun for Shul. Everything felt nice.

Sark didn't actually have the ability to close his eyes. He could shut down visual input, which he did when he slept. But he just watched Shul as he closed his eyes. He wondered what Shul was thinking, then. He didn't move his hand away when Shul placed his own on Sark's hand. Sark just quietly laughed. "I screw up a lot, don't I?"

Shul was kinda snapped out from a daze when Sark laughed a little and talked, and Shul blushed. But he didn't move or look away. He just listened to Sark's words, and chuckled in turn.
"Why? What did you screw up this time?"
Shul joked, his voice was little lower and softer than usual. The gentle smile remained on his face as he looked away briefly, in thought. Soon Shul looked back at Sark, and sighed a bit through his nose.
"Honestly though, you don't screw up a lot. You haven't screwed up anything while with me?"
Shul tilted his head, on the side Sark held his hand. Shul's cheek pressed against his hand. The hand was warming up a bit due to the contact with Shul's skin.
"Why did you say that?"

Sark laughed. His voice was so much quieter and softer now. He was still looking at Shul, no tilt in his head. He wasn't really giving away much right now. "I dunno... what... do you feel? Just, that's... pretty weird of me to do, right?" He tilted his head as he asked. He felt pretty conflicted because he was realising that these emotions were the same he had felt with few other people in the past.

He didn't want their friendship to fall apart because of it. Even if... Shul didn't feel the same, Sark wanted to continue being friends with him. He'd be devastated that it would all fall apart. But even if he did return the same emotions, Sark was scared. Every person he loved just seemed to fall from his reach. He felt his memory drifting towards it...

But Shul moved his head so it pressed into Sark's hand. He snapped out of it and just saw Shul. No, this will be different. I promise. He kept his hand there. "I dunno..." He laughed quietly. He then continued looking at Shul with some kind of intensity. "Shul, I promise I'll always protect you." He sounded so serious. There was no hint of a joke, and he didn't break out into laughter. No dramatic gestures. Just those words and pure honesty.

"Weird? Really?"
Shul smiled a bit, sneakily, and squeezed Sark's hand on his cheek. It was almost of normal temperature now, warm from Shul's blushing cheek.
Shul looked Sark where the eyes of a person usually were. But Sark wasn't a person, not in the traditional sense. Shul didn't care about things like that, never had. Even when he had started his journey by leaving his mountain Shul never cared about how a person looked like. The most important thing, the thing that mattered, was the inside. And inside Sark was, to Shul, colorful and bright, like the sun. He was beautiful.

Shul had had other people in his life, who he had felt this kind of affection towards. They had all been different kinds of people. And they had all been Shul's friends.
Shul's sneaky smile turned into a normal, affectionate one and he turned his hand enough to press his lips lightly on Sark's hand. All the while he looked Sark in the eyes.
"Then I guess I'm just as weird. Besides, I thought we had already established we're both weirdos. Why not be weirdos together?"
These words should've been said jokily. But when Shul said them he said them with hope, with want. He wanted to be with Sark.

When Sark pressed his head into Shul's hand worry flared inside him a bit. Was Sark okay? But then he proclaimed he would always protect Shul, and Sark said those words with such seriousness and honesty Shul's face turned serious as well. He seriously considered his answer, but only one came to mind. Shul smiled, determined. But his tone was just as serious as Sark's.
"Then I will protect you too. Always."

Sark didn’t flinch or tense when Shul squeezed his hand. If anything. He felt more relieved. He was here, right now. Shul wasn’t slipping from his hands, so close yet so far. He wasn’t holding Shul in his arms in anguish. He was there, on the beach, with Shul. Nothing terrible. Peaceful. It felt good... it felt right.

Sark doesn’t feel physical attraction. He can acknowledge when he finds someone good looking, but he isn’t attracted to a single thing. He’s attracted to personality. The people he had loved were passionate, caring, humourous. They helped Sark when he truly felt his weakest. His fear was always weakness, but he didn’t feel fear right now.

He didn’t flinch when he felt Shul’s lips on his hand. He felt pleasantly surprised, if anything. He leaned his head forward, just enough so where his forehead would be rested next to Shul’s. “Yeah. I think I’d like us to be weirdos together.” He laughed a little bit, but he sounded perfectly honest.

For the first time in this part of their encounter, Sark was taken aback. He looked at Shul, looked into his eyes. He squeezed Shul’s hand as he nodded. “Okay.” There was complete trust in his voice. He didn’t need to say a lot because he just... didn’t feel like he needed to. He trusted in Shul, and he hoped Shul trusted in him. He intended to protect Shul for as long as he lived.

He then laughed a little bit, as he kept his head leaned close. “To be honest, I would kiss you. But... well, obvious problems.” He laughed a little bit more, his voice still soft.

The blush on Shul's cheeks didn't go anywhere. After all, he was just a dragon. But surprisingly Shul didn't feel that embarrassed. He just felt happy, happy to be here with Sark, happy that he didn't avoid his touch. And when Sark rested his forehead against Shul's the happiness grew to such levels Shul wondered if he was allowed to be this happy.
Shul chuckled a bit and sighed silently from satisfaction.
"I like that you'd like that."
It sounded really weird to say and Shul laughed lightly. His head felt like it was swimming.

Shul was content that he had taken Sark by surprise. He looked back at him with a small smile and determination in his eyes. Because although he was weak as a human Shul was still a dragon, and there was no way he was going to let someone else protect him. Especially if that person was as important to Shul as Sark. Because Sark had taken a big place in Shul's heart when he had jumped before him and booped his nose. Thinking that still made Shul smile. So he smiled widely at Sark and winked a little.
"Yes 'Okay'. Because just a minute ago you admitted I'm always right. To takebacks."

When Sark cracked the kissing joke Shul just stared at him for a second and then burst out laughing. It was so him, and Shul loved that. So he was him and basically tackle hugged Sark. If Sark let him Shul could've made them fall onto the sand all over again, with Shul on top of Sark.
Shul was still laughing a little when he answered.
"Honestly, I don't give a fuck. We can always just do this."
Shul squeezed Sark and snickered a bit. Then he tried to sound very serious. But there was grin in his voice.
"Don't tell the kids at the daycare I said 'fuck'. That would make me a failure as a teacher."

Sark would probably blush or be really warm to the touch if was physically capable of such functions. But, he wasn't. If he could smile, he'd have the biggest grin imaginable right now. But, he just settled with being close with Shul. Every second that passed felt like he was going to wake up from some wonderful dream, but he didn't. He laughed a little.

Sark really hated feeling afraid. That was his biggest weakness. But he didn't mind Shul seeing him break down. Of course, he would rather not have a break down in front of someone he cared about. But, he felt grounded when Shul is with him. He felt truly free from a lot of memories in his past, able to remember the peaceful ones without being reminded once again. He then laughed. "Of course, you're always right." He spoke with a grin in his voice.

Sark was sitting up when Shul tackle hugged him. He falls back down onto the sand, but pretty much he let Shul push him back down. He looked into Shul's face while he laughed. He could probably push Shul off him if he wanted but... he'd be lying if he said he wanted Shul off of him. He then nodded with a laugh. "Yeah, we can just do this." He spoke like he had a smug voice. "It's all according to plan." He laughed some more. He then chuckled. "Of course, you're the best teacher. I wouldn't dare ruin your reputation." He spoke with a grin.
