The sound of chitin on waxed floor, the nervous scratch and shuffle, those two eyes shifting within their exoskeletal domes. Ylzkzyzxzkzxyzz clicked her mandibles nervously as she moved down the hall. Earth's atmosphere contained slightly less oxygen than she was used to, not to a life-threatening degree but she did feel a little light headed. Two of her maxilopods twitched before she hastily moved them up and began to groom her eyes. As Ylzkzyzxzkzxyzz rounded a corner and began to look at the doors, she tried to remember her studies back home. Earth-writing was so... complicated. She couldn't smell it, how could you tell what people mean if you can't smell them?
C... C... Co... Coun...Councillor's... Councillor's Orifice! Wait, was that right? Well, it was a Councillor, and Ylzkzyzxzkzxyzz distinctly remembered her instructions. "Find a Councillor, they are designated adults meant to herd and assist larval humans. Teachers or other academic-caste humans can help as well." It seemed odd that the Councillor's Orifice would have its own marked room, but the customs of Earth and its people were that refreshing kind of odd that had drawn Ylzkzyzxzkzxyzz's curiosity since hatching. She used her maxilopods to produce a steady, rhythmic drumming on the wooden door, a sound-based signalling method called "knocking", before calling in English, one of the predominant earth languages.
"Councillor? Are you in this room? I require access to your Orifice!"
