Burning And Freezing Fur

Kon wasn't that great of a runner. Having weak muscles meant he wasn't that quick on the ground. That was made up with his agility and flexibility. He would miss the streams of fire by rolling on the ground or backflipping away. The latter was much harder on rough ground with branches all over the place.

"Be careful! Don't want to—" Another flip. A stumble. The heat was too close and singed him. That would heal up quickly enough. —"burn anything!"

"I'm fine, Kon shouted back. "Burns are nothing to me." As long as they could be set out fast enough. And didn't cover his entire body. Something told him that being engulfed in flames couldn't be solved with a beam of ice aimed at his entire body.

Shiro's focus on accuracy worked. He was burned once more by a stream missing his hand. This was difficult, only because of where they were. Kon would have loved to climb up a tree or hide behind a bush, then ambush Shiro. See how she'd deal with a sudden change of plans. Obviously, that wasn't going to work with fire.

So Kon tried a different tactic. He wanted to make this fun for both of them, after all. He tried to circle around Shiro, closing their distance so she had to focus on the intensity of her heart and accuracy.

Kon was confident in Shiro being invulnerable to her own fire and ice, so he wasn't concerned about her burning herself. And if she did, well, that was an important part of her power to learn. Even if it was painful.

Noticing the heat worsening, Kon shortened his hair until he had a pixie cut. Then, he removed his tail and replaced his cat ears with those of a human. He was too close to turn his legs back to human, but he was able to take off the fur from his hands. For now, this would have to do.

To dodge the fire, Kon skidded across the ground and behind Shiro, forcing her to take a sudden turn to get him. In the meantime, Kon tried to dart away from Shiro and widen the distance. He could tell he had some burns on his body from when Shiro intensified the feat. Perhaps getting close to fire wasn't the smartest of plans, especially with his lack of combat experience.

Kon appreciated the chance to heal. He hasn't sustained much damage, but it wasn't good for him to have too many burns on his body. "Just a few burns here and there. They're healing pretty quickly."

After several more seconds of distancing himself from Shiro and circling around her, Kon felt like it was time to change things up. "Hey Shiro, mind stopping for a moment?"

When she did, Kon would slow himself down to a walk. "I was thinking it'd be fun if I turned into my cat form. See how you do at aiming towards a smaller target. But only if you're interested. I'm mostly here to help you out with whatever you need to practice." And use that as a chance to test out his agileness when in danger.

Kon nodded quickly, not hiding his desperation. He didn't have any heat resistance. He could heal from burns, but the intense heat left him sweaty and tired and sweaty. The state he was in was absolutely disgusting.

He popped an ice cube in his mouth to suck on, then used the rest of the ice Shiro gave him to wipe down his neck and arms. "I really needed this. Thank you so much." The cold never felt so good before.

"I'll still be able to heal, and it shouldn't be an issue if you aren't shooting large streams. If I'm set on fire, uh, you can ice me out? Maybe? Or you could use your ice... Actually, ice might be safer for a smaller target... in the woods... full of trees."
