Breakfast Is the Best Way to Start the Day

An early breakfast date at a local diner was possibly the last thing Ivana had ever thought of doing when Gwyn Drakenhaedt suggested that they should go out and do something together. Although when she thought about it afterwards, Ivana had to admit that it was not a bad idea, especially since both of them had such hectic work schedules.

Arriving a few minutes early, Ivana sat down at one of the empty tables that was already set for breakfast service. There she removed her leather jacket and placed it along with her helmet and brown leather handbag on the chair beside her. Then she pictured up a small black foldout menu and started perusing the specials while she waited for Gwyn to arrive.

Ivana grinned and put her menu to one side when Gwyn appeared at the table looking all dapper.

"It does seem that way, doesn't it?" she said playing along. "Maybe fate is trying to tell us something?" she stated wryly. "Or maybe we are both just extremely hungry for a Full English breakfast or waffles and chicken," she said with a smile as she leaned forward, resting her arms casually against the table.

"I think most dragons could easily eat that, and more," Ivana remarked knowingly since she also had a constitution where she could easily polish off a decent amount of food in a sitting and still maintain her weight.

"Well, so far my day looks good, uneventfully, just some minor equipment maintenance scheduled, but as I am sure you know that can change in a heartbeat," she explained as a waitress approached their table and offered them some freshly brewed coffee.

Accepting a cup of hot coffee from the waitress, Ivana proceeded to add copious amounts of sugar to her beverage along with a splash of cream.

"That is quite a long time, even for a dragon," Ivana said as she openly scrutinized Gwyn for a moment, clearly surprised by his very candid confession. She would have assumed that the good-looking dragon before her lived up to the rumours surrounding the rest of the males in the Drakenhardt clan.

"I mean, I haven't really dated in a while either, mainly because of my job," she told Gwyn truthfully as she took a small sip of her overly sweet coffee. "Though, I sense that your reason is probably a bit more complicated, no"?

Ivana stopped midway in the air, her coffee cup just inches away from her lips, as she looked at Gwyn in shocked surprise, totally taken aback by his very unexpected "undead" comment. Putting down her cup, Ivana took a moment to collect herself and her thoughts.

"Oh wow, that bad, huh?," she said giving Gwyn a sympathetic smile, apparently empathizing with him. "I hate when that happens," Ivana said as a small look of amusement flashed across her features, disappearing almost instantly as she added.

"I hate it when the last person you dated, leaves you feeling "dead" inside," she stated deadpan as she stared at Gwyn trying not to smile or laugh at her very bad pun.
