Mica finished counting, still on all fours, and stretched as if she were a full-fledged dog. "You used your powers, didn't you?" She sighed, placing her nose to the ground and sniffing lightly. "Then I'll use mine..."

She followed the stream for a bit, until the scent from the ground suddenly vanished. She could still smell the sweet combination of bark, cinnamon, and something that she couldn't quite identify that signaled Kinta's presence, but now it was in the air, floating. She closed her eyes, pulling off one specially made glove with her teeth, shaking her hand lightly and pressing it to the earth. He'd come this way, that was for sure... She could feel the memory of his footsteps in the earth, and - ooh, was that a worm? Her hand backtracked, and she grinned at the feel of the creature below the ground.

Now, what was she doing, again? Oh, yes. Looking for Kinta... Kinta, Kinta. She made another pass of the earth, suddenly feeling the vibrations of a human not far off.
"Found ya." She grinned, tugging her glove back on with her hands, sweeping away the leaves covering a leg with one deft foot. There was something else she had to do, now, wasn’t there? She frowned, trying to remember. What what what – oh! Right! Tag him!

Kinta laughed. "Yup you did. Seems we are about equally matched when it comes to finding the other," he said, laughing even more. "So this game won't be much fun." He shook his head. His head snapped around, however, when his senses kicked in, hard. "What the hell?" he muttered. "That was an awfully large rip there. Come on," he said loud enough for her to hear. He hurried back to the tree, tracing runes in the air as he went. The sword and bells appeared again, and he pulled the bandolier on, and strapped the sword to his waist. "Stay close."

Mica took off on all fours, remaining in that position for a bit before standing up and stumbling slightly, always clumsy on two feet. "What is it?" She stopped when he did, peering at him with a questioning look in her grayish eyes. Was there something dead nearby? She sniffed, frowned, turned in a circle. She couldn't smell or hear anything out of the ordinary...

"Drenamir. Very dangerous. I KNEW it was going to be something like this next, with the damn Creeper in the Forbidden Forest." He pulled, not Ranna, but Saraneth, the more powerful of the binding bells, from his bandolier, as well as Kibeth. "Stay behind me. No matter what happens, don't help me. Even if it gets inside my reach, STAY BACK."

Mica frowned, pouting slightly. She was probably just as strong as him, and twice as fast. Why did she have to stay behind him when she could help? If it could be beaten by bells, then how could it be that big of a deal?

Still, she nodded, one toe digging absent mindedly at the dirt. "And what happens if he eats you?" She muttered, too quiet for the young Abhorsen to hear, and crouched down on her haunches, in case something did happen to him and she'd have to make a quick getaway with him. She had to admit she was curious as to what it actually looked like, an Abhorsen doing his job.

Kinta advanced slowly, his mouth moving soundlessly, runes flowing in bright flame before, behind, and around him. His hands were held ready, holding the clappers of the bells, so that they would not sound unattended. He was bowled over, after advancing several feet, by a black shape, that had no apparent form at first. But as it rose over him, it revealed that it was somewhat akin to a squid: made entirely of darkness, with tentacles protruding at all points. Kinta swore. "DAMN you. Where is your master? Tell me. TELL ME NOW!" he ordered as Saraneth rang out.

Squid, Mica decided, were cool.

Not that this particular one was either interesting nor low in temperature, however. It was too black, oily, and mid-air-floating to be cool. Which was a shame, really.

She hung behind, no doubt in her mind that Kinta would do whatever he had to do. He acted like the alpha male of the students, although Mica knew many students who did the same. He seemed confident, like he was calling the shots instead of anyone else, even if they didn't know it. This provoked an interest in Mica - at least, as much as something so serious could.

The bell rang out, stirring Mica from her thoughts, aher sensitive ears clamping against her head; she whined softly, frowning up at the beast to see its response.

((ooc: *wonders aloud if Mica would be affected by Saraneth*))

(((Nope. He's concentrating on the Drenamir, so she's only hit by a residual effect.)))

Kinta stood there. "TELL ME NOW!" The Dead thing tried to speak, but could not. Keeping Saraneth handy, Kinta pulled Dyrim and rang it once. "Now. Tell me."

A hissing voice emitted from the creature. "In Death. You will never get him. He issss in the Ninth Precinct."

Kinta swore. "That's not a good thing. Probably right by the Ninth Gate, isn't he?"

"Yesssss."

"Begone. Return to the depths of Death from whence you came, and speed beyond the Final Gate," Kinta called out, ringing Kibeth.

The creature let out a high, thin wail, and slowly shriveled down to nothing. Kinta let out a sigh of relief. "That went better than normal. I really expected to have more problems out of that one. I did out of the last one of those that I fought." He shook his head. "THAT was not fun."

Mica prounced on the damp, foresty ground the creature had dissappeared into, sitting crosslegged and staring up at the male as he spoke. "It looked like it went well..." Her head tilted to one side, intricate earrings jingling softly. "But, then, I don't know what bad is." She stood up, one arm hugging herself as she scratched her right arm where the light blue tattoos ended. "Do you have to go to the 'Ninth Precinct' now?"

((ooc: ok, just making sure ^^))

Kintaru nodded. "It would probably be best. The problem is, I've never actually made it into the Ninth Precinct. The last time I tried, I nearly became Dead myself." He sighed. "But that's the only way to stop this. I can only hope he isn't still in the Ninth Precinct, and maybe I can actually take him on. Not that I expect to win. In order to survive to the Ninth Precinct, you have to be either pure good, or pure evil."
