Mica's mouth dropped open, her canine-like teeth softly denting the empty space of her mouth with white. When she was around the age of eight, she was still completely carefree; catapulting herself around in the snow with the newer additions to the pack, believing that life would forever be that simple. And this boy... Her forehead dented lightly in concern, as if the boy might die from lack of a proper childhood.

She shook her head, the frown increasing as she tried to remember where she'd heard the name before. "I know Seek, but not Hide - she's his sister, you know. I met him on the cliff." She grinned, not realizing that the boy she'd met on the cliff a month ago had nothing to do with the game he was speaking of. "But how do you play?"

Kintaru laughed. "That was good. You just made what us humans call a joke. The way Hide and Seek works is you run and hide while I count. Then, I have to find you. One spot is designated home. If you can get 'home' before I tag you, then we do it again. If I tag you before you get 'home', then you get to count while I hide."

Mica's eyes went big, and she clapped her hands together in surprise. "I know that game!" She grinned, bouncing up on the balls of her feet in a futile attempt to be as tall as Kintaru. "We used to play it all the time!"

She paused a second, silvery eyes darting around at the surroundings, and then she was off, calling behind her shoulder "The stream's home!"

She stopped as soon as she was out of sight, doubling back and easily scaling a large pine tree close enough to the boy that she could see him. She walked out on a branch about fifteen feet from the ground, her hands out on either side to steady herself, and dropped down when it came to a fork, her feet swinging carelessly across the side.

A smile spread across the girl's face, and she opened her mouth, singing a lilting melody just quietly enough that the boy below couldn't hear her. A small, dark grey cloud formed above his head, soft snow appearing from it and dancing through the air to rest on the young man beneath it.

Kintaru laughed, closing his eyes, and counting silently. He stretched out with his life sense, noticing her double back and climb up the tree. He laughed as snow began to fall, not knowing why, but knowing it was one of the best things that could ever happen. He opened his eyes. "Ready or not, here I come!" He looked straight up. "Hello there. You were a bit too noisy there."

She increased the song until a small blizzard was following the boy, and stretched out on her stomach across the branch. "You just used your power or whatever, didn't you?" She stuck out her tongue, having fun for the first time in a long time. "Anyway, I'd like to see you catch me up here." She stood up lightly, standing on her tiptoes to reach a higher branch, her feet slinging up until she was straddling it like a sloth. The bottom of the tree had almost no branches - it would be hard for someone to climb it unless they were used to that sort of thing.

Kintaru smiled. He traced a few runes in the air in front of him, and he lifted up into the air, rising until he was right beside the branch she was on. He 'leapt' out of the air, standing on the branch she was on before sitting on it. "Tag. You're it," he laughed as he tapped her arm.

Mica laughed, not at all surprised when he wrote a spell to propel him upwards. She allowed herself to be tagged, let go of the branch with her arms, then dropped down into a handstand on the branch occupied by Kinta. "Used to play it..." She echoed herself from a few minutes earlier, flipping herself over into a sitting position beside the boy. "I miss them so bad." She hugged herself, wondering if he'd even heard her speak.

"You miss them? Who do you mean? Who is them?" He reached over, and placed a hand on her shoulder. "It doesn't matter, really. You're welcome here."

Mica jumped as he touched her, quickly realizing what it was and relaxing slightly. "Everyone... My pack." She frowned, turned to the boy sitting beside her. "And no, I'm not welcome here. I'm... Tolerated."

She took a deep breath, unfolded her arms, and grinned at Kinta. "Thanks, anyway." She muttered, slinging herself down from the branch and dropping lightly to the ground; she landed on all fours and shook her head in surprise at the impact. "Now you hide!" She grinned up at the tree for a split second, closing her eyes tightly and starting to count silently.

Kintaru laughed. "You're welcome while I'm around." He dropped lightly to the ground beside her, and took off, not making a sound as he ran, now that he had ditched the bells and sword. He sprinted down the stream a little ways, then dropped and sketched a few marks above him. A layer of leaves completely covered him, leaving no part of him visible.
