The leader had risen to his feet again. He snarled at Zippo and lunged forward, snapping at the air directly in front of the drake's face. If Zippo didn't spew fire in that moment, the dog would pounce, followed by his toadie dogs.

Zippo would wrap his tail around the big ones mouth and use that to get onto its head, then off, causing them all to dive into eachother. He would then ignite the large ones fur at the tail.

The dogs, at that point, had decided that Zippo was NOT worth the trouble. The leader howled, running off as he tried to escape the fire climbing the length of his tail. The other members of the pseudo pack watched for a moment, then hightailed it the fuck out of there. The lizard was craaazeh man!

Bandit looked up at Zippo and whined. His fur was matted with blood and dirt now and he looked in quite a bit of pain, but he was happy to see a familiar face.

Zippo blasted another spurt of flame after them, as if to say "And don't come back."
He then turned to the wounded slobber beast. What would this guy do without him?

Back at the hotel, knocks came at the door. Outside, Maddie would find a concerned looking Zippo and a bloody, dirty Bandit. How did Zippo get them back here? How did he knock on the door? The power of friendship or some nonsense.

Maddie's face was all tear-soaked when she answered. She had woken up an hour ago and hadn't seen Zippo or Bandit anywhere. She was sure she'd never see them again, but there Zippo and her dog were at the door.

Momentarily, Maddie was relieved, then she saw the extent of Bandit's wounds and quickly helped bring him inside and on the bed. He covered the sheets in blood and dirt and Maddie had to wince, hoping that wouldn't cost Laetus anything.

"What happened?" she asked Zippo, like he might be able to answer her.

Zippo pointed his tail at Bandit, then waved his tail to try and convey combat. HE wasn't sure she would get it. More and more he wished Laetus had left his phone.

Maddie had no idea what the drake was trying to say. She looked back at Bandit and gently ran her hand over his head.

After a second, Maddie went to the bathroom in search of items to help her dog. They would at least have a rag.

Zippo looked at the poor pup, and then followed Maddie around. Should he do something? Could he do something? He may be annoying, but he didn't get him back here for the beast to bleed out on the bed.

Maddie had calmed down as she collected a rag and wet it in cold water. She moved back to Bandit, gently cleaning the wounds to see how bad the damage was. Upon inspecting him, she was sure he'd be fine. Sore, yes, but alive and that was worth something.

Maddie sighed in relief and felt tears prick her eyes. "You silly dog, what did you do?" She wished she could speak to him, to either of them and find out what happened. She wished Laetus was there. Somehow, the thought of him with her made all this more manageable.

Zippo followed her around, and curled up on her leg when she stopped, looking at the dog. Surely this was not where he thought he'd be this evening. He looked up at her occasionally. Where is Laetus? He needs to deal with all this...
