Aurum walked to the kitchen. Aurum felt.. Whole. like there was something missing and Aeon, Honey.. Completed him. He had something to live for now. He was happy when Aeon called him dad. He was smiling like never before. Something new that awoke in him. Something... That made him feel like he belonged how. Even if he had the chance to go back to his brothers. To his old life. He felt.. Needed.

He had a family.

"Well, how about spaghetti? I have yet to try it.. It would be something new for both of us.." He said. Turning his head to show his smile at Aeon. "My Daughter.."

Though also at the same time due to the light.. If Aeon were close enough she could see something it Aurum's eye. Like a tear forming from happiness. He turned around to get some of the ingredients out as he began to speak.

"Well.. Aeon.. I am sure you have many questions about me.. From what I have said. To tell you the truth. I followed a creed for over one thousand years.. Done many deeds I have wished to be not a part of." He said as he looked up at the ceiling for a moment. Handing out a pot for Aeon. "fill this with water sweetie?" He asked. "I was part of a small group of powerful soldiers. Much like white knights in fairy tales or knights that fight dragons. We were few, but we were strong. Each of us went under a lot of various treatments. Forgetting our past lives. We.. I.. Went through treatments to make my skin harder, my mind sharper. I can go days with out sleep. I have different spit than most.. It is acidic."

He blinked a few times as he realized he was ramble.

"Sorry Aeon.. I rambled on a little too much there." He said. Filling another pot with tomato sauce as he literally instead of using a can opener. crushed it open. And poured it into the pot and began to chop up some sausages from the fridge. "Is there anything you would like in it?"

Aeon smiled when her dad mentioned spaghetti. The unicorn had a soft spot for noodles, like spaghetti and ramen, though spaghetti was healthier and in some ways tastier than ramen in a lot of ways. She washed her hands and peered around the kitchen for the tools they would need to boil the pasta.

Her eyes feel squarely onto him when he spoke again about the creed he'd followed for thousands of years, the things he'd done in the name of justice. Aeon herself thought highly of people who crusaded for justice, so it was somewhat difficult for her to understand the concept of there being something you had to do in the name of justice that you didn't actually want to do. Maybe it was a timeline thing. Maybe it was an age thing.

Aeon took the pot and filled it with enough water to make a decent amount of pasta. She also threw in some salt and some oil to season the noodles a bit so they wouldn't taste bland and uninteresting with their sauce.

As her father spoke, Aeon listened. She listened as he talked about being part of a small group that underwent biological changes to make them stronger, and learned that Aurum's skin was tough, his mind was sharp, and his spit was acidic.

"Remind me not to accidentally drink from your morning coffee," she said, her voice soft but light with joking.

Looking over she bit her lip. "I usually don't put meat into my food," she said. The whole time she'd been there, she'd more or less cooked for herself. "I--I'm a unicorn, you see. Like a horse. We're vegetarian--except for eggs sometimes.

I usually put in mushrooms and green peppers--I'm 80% sure meat makes me sick."

Aurum started the pot for the noodles as he turned on the burner. Watching the fire as he could hear the pained screams in his for a moment as he shook his head. Looking at Aeon with a smile. "Well.. Mine always has my name on it. I used to have a friend who visited frequently for tea. Was a fun time when she found out about my spit. As well as a good laugh." He said lightly nudging Aeon with his elbow.

Hearing that she couldn't eat meat he looked at the sausages he put in the sauce as he blinked a few times. Looking back at her rather shocked. "W-Well.. Hmm... I shall make up another batch of sauce." as he started to prep another pot. it was smaller than the one he was using for his batch as he set it up again. Turning on another burner as he started to dice up mushrooms and peppers after washing his hand.

"Grab anything else you wish in yours.. So.. Please.. Ask anything you desire Daughter."

Aeon looked over to the sauce, already decorated with chopped up sausages and she couldn't help but laugh for some reason. Something about this situation, something about being in a place where this could happen just seemed so ethereal to her. She never had to worry about this kind of thing while she lived alone, and she never had to worry about it when she was back home on her island.

But here was such a situation where food could be made for her to eat that she was physically incapable of eating, and that seemed magnificent to her. Beyond magnificent, it felt hilarious.

The unicorn walked over to the refrigerator and took out an onion, which she chopped in half and then chopped that into fine little squares before adding that to her sauce.

"A funny thing happened to me in class a few days ago," she said, deciding to try to be a little more open about herself. "I'm a botany major, so we work in the greenhouse. There was this guy who tried to stick his head into the Yoribalysis Cantraviculus, which is this big plant with a mouth.

"So he sticks his head in, and snaps shut, and he's screaming because this plant is trying to eat him--" Aeon snickered. "The professor got him out."

Aurum looked at Aeon when she started laughing. He did too. It was one time that Aeon would have seen him laugh. He found the situation just as funny as she was preparing her sauce's items. Eventually his laughter died out as she was telling a joke.

She was a botany major. Aurum knew what that was. Though it was rare for him in his time to find even a flower. Whenever he did. He kept it during his mission. Seeing life gave hope to a hopeless mission or life. Though. hearing that someone had got their head stuck in a man eating plan he couldn't help but laugh.

"Sounds like he was really.. Planted on the idea." He said. His laughter slowly died out as the idea reminded him of a tale. Though it was kind of funny to him, it would not be funny to him. "There was this time on Orcus V, it was a planet almost full of only water and one city that was almost like a boat that sailed across the planet. They had created a plant to use as a natural defense... It was.. Interesting to see when it had attempted to eat someone for Seven Days and Six nights before We found the man, pulled him out. He then ran away into another one." he said with a bit of a chuckle. "spent three days running into one after the other."

Eventually his sauce started to boil.. and so did the pot of water for the spaghetti. He smiled brightly as he took an unopened box and poured it all in. Taking a small stir stick as he occasionally moved the spaghetti around. Looking over at Aeon for a moment.

"So how are classes going?" He asked. Just trying to see if she is enjoying herself. He thought she was, but he wasn't a great judge of facial expressions as he would have believed.

"Oh god," she said when Aurum made the pun, hanging her head and groaning softly. Hearing things like 'Dad Humor' always was strange to her, because neither of her fathers, her biological father nor Aurum, seemed particularly jokey. Yet in that moment, contained within that pun, was everything she had ever wondered about dad humor. Did this mean Aurum was officially her dad? was there some kind of... dad right of passage that involved puns?

Did Aeon need to call someone about that?

And then she caught herself. She had spent way too much time around Cabel, because now she was even thinking like he did. The strange cyclical thoughts that spun outwards into infinity. She shook her head to empty her mind of these thoughts as he sauce started to sport mushrooms and thinly chopped carrots.

The unicorn looked up at Aurum's as he told the story of a planet filled with water, upon which a single city existed that floated through the open waters with a plant that had attempted to eat one of her dad's comrades for a week until they found him and pulled him free. She wondered if they plant had managed to digest his armor. Surely they would make anti-digestion armor specifically for that purpose, right?

She looked up. "Oh, classes? They're going fine."

He sauce bubbled and she checked the mushrooms before turning it off. "I'm... thinking about taking this one criminology course. Its supposed to be for cadavers and blood splatter analysis."

Aurum heard the groan as he laughed a bit. It was rare that he was in such a good mood. Even if his own exterior was cold and dismissive. He really cared about this girl. Like a father would his daughter. Though he blinked a few times. Thinking of the pun he just said. Recalling someone telling him about dad puns when he looked at Aeon and put a hand on her head. messing up her hair with his larger hand.

Though he might have to talk to some of the other teachers about this thing. Was it some kind of Rite to do puns in front of their kids? Or was it something only he did?

"Good that classes are going alright. I cannot allow you to fall behind. How are you friends? Speak with them often? You spend more time out than you do here. I have no issue with that."

He spoke calmly. Even though there was that hint of worry. He was just cautious. Knowing that he can't keep someone inside all the time and spend time with them on a dime. It was just nice to have some company.

"criminology? Someone close to me is going for almost the same thing. Though it's psychoanalyst. Mind games for the most part. She is very good at it regardless. Even managed to get into my head. As well as my heart."

He said. Turning off the stove for his sauce as he looked at Aeons. "Test out your sauce. if you are happy with it turn off the burner."

He spoke lightly. They were close so he didn't need to even talk with his 'indoor voice' as lots of the students or teachers said. Since Aurum did have a very loud commanding voice as it was. Taking the strainer he started to take the pot of noodles and poured it in. The water escaping as he took the strainer. Steaming coming up into his face as the bionic eye got clouded a bit. Taking the strainer in his hands. Even though it was hot his hands were accustomed to worse as he started to flip the noodles to get all the water off.

"Set the table for me swee-.. Dar-... Aeon?"

Aeon hmm-ed to herself and nodded as her dad told her about her classes. It made sense--being adopted through the school meant that he had at least some semblance of a responsibility to making sure that she didn't start falling behind in her studies. It probably wouldn't reflect on him well if she started falling behind.

Then he asked about her friends, and she became really interested in her sauce. She didn't know how to tell him that she didn't really have many friends. In fact, when she thought about it, she couldn't say with certainty if she had any friends at all. She had Cabel, of course, but he was about it.

There had been that girl she met, who was the reason she was interested in Criminology at all. And there was that boy she met in the park. Really though, she didn't spend much time with them, as much as she just snuck out to go to Fight Club and fight people.

But she didn't want to tell Aurum that. Socially inept children tended to be a sore spot for parents, if all the television she watched on her own late at night didn't make that perfectly clear.

"Everything is fine," She said somewhat hesitantly.

"Oh?" Aeon said. "Someone you might be interested in romantically?" She asked.

The thought was odd. If there was such a woman, then.... that would make her Aeon's mom at some point, wouldn't it?

Aeon gave her sauce a taste. She seasoned it with salt and pepper and gave it a vigorous stir before turning off the burner.

"'Kay," She said, leaving her pot of sauce to set the table for the two of them.

"Good good." Aurum responded to her hesitant answer. He wasn't sure what to make of it but didn't want to butt into her life too much. He was worried, but he wasn't going to push and pry the needle deeper than he had to.

"You could say that. The past year or so I have been seeing someone and have gotten a smaller house just on the outskirts of the town we go to in order to get away from everything for a day or two. Even if she always has her head in her tomes. I mean books." Aurum said. Realizing.. Some habits are hard to kick away. Like calling books tomes. Most of what he learned and read were in them. Instead of books.

"Thank you Aeon." He said. Starting to put the pasta back into the pot. Taking the pot over and holding it from the heated bottom. His skin was hardened as it didn't sizzle right away. But he had enough time in order to take some of the pasta and put them into the plates. Taking some of their sauces to put onto their food.

He went to the fridge and got himself a rather large jug of milk and filled two glasses. One 'Aurum' sized and another was sized for a normal human.

Putting the glasses on the table he rubbed his chin.

"I feel like I am missing something for this.. It has been.. AEONs since i had last had time to eat with someone." He said with a bit of a chuckle. Realizing he made a pun out of her name.

Aeon watched as her dad walked around their kitchen, getting milk and bringing the pots of noodles and sauce together onto the plates Aeon had set. She settled into one of the chairs set with the plate and, making sure that this was indeed her portion of the pasta, she gave it a poke.

She began swirling her fork in her noodles and sauce, her mouth watering in anticipations. Spaghetti was one of her favorites. Noodles in general were Aeon's guilty pleasure.

The unicorn was about to put to pasta into her mouth when she heard the pun, and her hand froze.

Her eyes looked at Aurum, mouth still open in the motion of eating.

"Did you just...?" She said. "Make a pun out of my name?"
