Aurum was sitting in the living room under the clock tower as he was assured that his two daughters were asleep as he leaned back in the chair. Closing his eyes for a bit. Slowly but surely resting his body. He was more tired mentally than ever from dealing with Honey, though Aeon was her own little world. Seeming to only ask Aurum for little things and not a whole lot.

Realizing he actually fell asleep for a bit he sat up. Looking around the room before leaning forward to rub his eye. He stood up as he went to the kitchen to wash his face. Cupping water in his hands as he washed his face feeling the cold water hit his face woke him up slightly as he moved to check up on the little poptart. Sound asleep..

Good..

The Justicar then wanted to check up on Aeon but.. Realizing her age decided to just leaving her be for now only if she wanted to talk or was up as he went to knock on the door and then just.. Stopped. Moving away from the door as he moved to sit back down on the sofa in the living. His eyes on the TV as he was watching the news of SA. Realizing not much going he decided to put on a movie. The first thing he could get his hands on which was '2 for the money' Something new he had never watched before just to keep himself occupied. Even though he had the weekend off from work.

He itched to do something.

To talk about something.

Just to attempt to bond with one of his daughters. To get to know them a little better.

Contrary to what might have been the popular belief to someone who was outside looking in, Aeon wasn't really a girl who needed absolute privacy all the time. When she was a teenager, sullenly going through her willful rebellion of all kinds of societal ideas and pressures she had been all for her privacy and individuality, going so far as to demand to live in a singleton and make absolutely no friends.

It was only when she was a senior in high school did she realize the gravity of her mistakes, and how not having any friends to bond with would hamper her ability to find good housing later on.

So she'd learned that demanding absolute privacy was a bit much.

Aeon lie awake on her floor, sitting on her floor in such a way that the moonlight illuminated her page as she read about plants.

Again.

It was with a heavy sigh that she closed the book and slotted it into its proper place on her bookshelf--organized by title and author's last name, because she remembered book titles, not names--and stretched.

She wasn't quiet wearing pajamas as she was just. Wearing yoga pants and a sports bra as she left her room to go to the bathroom and then padded to the kitchen to get some water.

The unicorn was about to go back to her room and amuse herself until she got bored enough to sleep but--

She saw Aurum. They hadn't talked much. Aeon assumed they didn't have a lot in common. But he'd adopted her, and he was her father now, more or less.

A small sigh as she walked into the living room and sat on the floor. "What are you watching?"

Aurum was just watching the movie rather contently. Leaning back on the couch that he took up a good portion of as he saw his daughter Aeon walk back and sit down.

"two for the money. Not sure what it is about.. Someone making a killing off sports game bets?" He tried to find out. It was some time when Aeon had been here that even Aurum didn't know much about her as he turned the volume down a bit and scooted over a bit on the couch. "Care to join me?"

He spoke that last part rather awkwardly. As if he was trying to ask that but just.. couldn't find the words to do as. He was supposed to be like a father figure to them, but he just couldn't figure out what to do or say.

"I.. Hope you are enjoying the accommodations. I am trying my best to make this place.. Safe." He said. His eyes looking at Aeon. Trying to find out what to do or say next as he looked at her again realized what she was wearing. Then again.. He was pretty much wearing a black spandex suit over his body and a pair of shorts as he decided not to say anything. The suit pretty much clung to his rather chiseled body. Though most people would have said that he was on steroids. Truly. That was how he was.

A walking meat tank.

"Forgive me, this is all new to me little one. I've done many things but being a father is just.. Out of my realm of expertise." He said. Trying to hide what he said under the movie playing. He gave the kids, food, warmth, bed time stories. hell he had even tried telling stories to Aeon sometimes. Though they weren't the true stories. All that stuff about a Silver Knight fighting off hordes of monsters to fight an even bigger monster like a fairy tale.

The stories were more real.

And gruesome than that.

Though he patted the couch beside him. "There is more room here Aeon."

"Sure," she said somewhat softly, shifting her legs so they were crossed, resting her forearms on her legs as she watched the movie she had never seen before. In actuality she wasn't paying any attention. She was thinking about the fact that this would probably be the longest amount of time she'd spent in the same room with her new father. It made her nervous. Could you rescind an adoption if you didn't like your child? Her first thought was no, but then again anything was possible on this bizarre island.

"I.. Hope you are enjoying the accommodations. I am trying my best to make this place.. Safe."

Aeon was quiet for a long moment before she nodded. "Yeah," she said softly. "It's nicer here than where I was living before." It was nice having her own space entirely to herself, but it was more than a little lonely. Up until Cabel found her apartment and made her go out with noodles with him. Which hadn't been bad--it gave her a chance to eat noodles without feeling bad about herself.

While her back was somewhat to Aurum, her lips quirked into a smile when he called her a "little one". She supposed to him everyone was little, considering he was a giant hulking meat man.

The unicorn stood up and dropped herself onto the couch, drawing one knee up to her chest as the other foot dangled normally on the floor.

It felt weird.

Should she tell him about her plans to leave later that night to go to Fight Club, or would that ruin their bonding. It wasn't like he would notice (probably) since she was getting pretty good at scaling out of her window. Force fields were helpful those first few times where she fell and almost turned into a bloody smear on the ground.

Aurum never really spent much time with anyone now that he thought about it. His eye and Bionic eye weren't so much glued on the TV as he kept an eye on Aeon while she was on the floor. Her response made things easier in his head. Only responding with "Good.. Good." Nodding his head up and down.

When she came up on the couch he smiled lightly. It was one of the only times he smiled. He was hopeful for once. That he could make a difference in someones life that wasn't taking it through purifying fire or a ritual as he nodded his head up and down. He never really spoke of his old life before coming here.

"I can understand if you do not wish to answer this. How.." He said. Looking over at her. Then at his cup of water. "Did you find yourself here? I heard not of any of it." He spoke lightly. Trying not to wake up his little Double H. Little Honey Hyperion. Though right now he was spending some time with Aeon. He wasn't sure on what else to say at this point as he looked over at her again. Just to sit and listen to her story.

Aeon messed with her hair for a few moments, watching the screen. Her past wasn't exactly a touchy subject--she was raised on an island of unicorns, exactly where you would expect a unicorn to come from. But she wanted to answer at least that much. Who knew, maybe it would trigger something in her that made her want to share more than that about herself.

"I... came from an island of unicorns," she said quietly, running her fingers through her hair and picking at the ends. They weren't splitting just yet, but she would probably need to be careful and get them trimmed soon. Thoughts of this occupied her mind as she spoke, making it a little easier to be open about this. A little unguarded. "My dad--my biological dad--he wasn't great? He was really controlling and had all these rules, said that I could never leave that island, that I would live and die like a normal unicorn on that island and that was the last we would ever speak of it."

She glanced at the screen and let it hold her attention for a few moments before going back to her hair. "He tried to teach me how to suppress my powers.... but eventually they came out...

"He was pretty mad. Told me to never come back."

Aurum waited for her to speak. Not opening his mouth till she was ready when the silence in the room was defining to him. The roar of gun fire made silence to him alien. Like many of the things he used to combat. When she spoke. His eyes went from the TV to her. Though the only thing that he called a unicorn was a type of Tank that had one single horn on the front. A hover craft more or less.

"An Island of Unicorns. Sounds interesting. I would love to see it sometime.. Would be nice to spend some more time wi-" He stoped when she talked her about her real father. Though... When she said Biological father. He looked at his hands. Did.. She really see him as a father? Or was she just trying to be nice. "Well.. Every father worries about their children I would assume. I would not know." He said hardheartedly. He couldn't even remember his parents. Let alone his childhood. "Your powers are yours.. You cannot suppress what is you."

He put an arm around her and held her close. Trying to find something to say. he opened his mouth a few times as he tried to say something, but nothing came out. "Well.. He tossed away a great daughter..." he said.

"I.. Came from another.. Dimension.. Or timeline." He said. "On the moon of Titan that orbits Saturn. I was taken in by a secretive group called 'The Grey Knights'. A group of powerful soldiers fighting against humanities greatest threat. Daemons. Who corrupt and kill with out mercy.. Who wish to eradicate humanity as a whole. Yet.. We are the only group who stem the tide. The bed time stories I tell you.. About a Knight in shining armor who gives his all to protect a throne? Those stories are true, yet... Lies." he moved his body to stand up. Standing in front of a tinted window.

His hands placed on it. "I grew up fighting. For A thousand years. Each story came at the price of my closest friends. Losing them to be replaced by others." The glass slowly became see through. Showing a broken suit of armor. The suit was broken and looked worse for wear. "this was my old life."

"I twisted stories into fairy tales to help give you as well as Honey something to be happy about. Tales spun to allow for an easy rest." He put has hand over his bionic eye. "Yet.. It is all a grim reminder of what I had lost." He said looking at her. As silence filled the air between them he moved his hand. "Sorry.." he said as he looked back at the armor.

For the most part, Aeon didn't respond to anything he was saying, aside from letting out a small laugh and smiling with his big arm wrapped around her in a one-armed hug. She laughed lightly. She certainly enjoyed being Aurum's daughter more than being her biological father's daughter, because at least he seemed to make some attempts to understand her. It was a nice change of pace, and though it seemed strange to her that they would allow her to be adopted at 19, nothing made her happier than the fact that she got this opportunity.

"Well.. He tossed away a great daughter..."

She.... didn't know how to respond to that. It made her feel weird. Happy, she supposed.

Then he started talking about his own past, and Aeon mostly sat almost stock still in silence, letting it wash over her, the truth behind all of those happy stories he used to tell. She always thought they were just stories he'd made up, or that he'd heard while he guarded the school.... but it was something completely different to know that he'd lived it, lived it all, all of the enemies, the big bads that the white knight prevailed over just because he was the white knight and that was how the stories worked... it all seemed so much sadder now that she knew the truth behind those countless happily-ever-afters.

The unicorn regarded the armor with an unreadable face. What could she be thinking? Honestly, even she wasn't entirely sure.

"...don't apologize, I'm happy to know." She said. She was the older daughter. This was what being the older child was like, she supposed. She'd... never been an older sister before.

He sat down beside her once more as the armor's glass slowly went back to being tinted. Forgetting the movie was still on as he looked at the ground. "I had many surgeries done on me. Three hearts.. Two of every other organ.. My mind protected my own mental might." He said. Looking at the window to the outside instead of his armor that was risen off the ground. "Aeon.."

He tried to find the words to say as he put an arm around her again. Held her tight. He was a man of action. Little of words, but Aeon... Brought out the best in him. The human in him. The man he would have grown up to be. "I am glad I have a daughter like you.. Even if you are adopted.. I will treat you like my own." he said rubbing her arm with his bulky hands. Trying not to hurt her.

"If... There is a story you wish to know the true story of.. Let me know. I will explain it in my account." He said as moved his head. Planting an awkwardly father kiss on her head. Just trying to convey how appreciative of her he was. He was at a lose of words right now. Trying to strike up some small talk. "Would.. You like to make something to eat with me? some things are a little hard to make with my size.."

So many modifications... what was Aurum, Aeon had to wonder? She knew that he belonged to some sort of military unit in the galactic future, but what was he? Three hearts, and two of everything else... that would certainly explain why he was the size of three men.

She looked towards his face when he called her name, her hands balling up the loose fabric of her yoga pants.

A smile. "Thank you, dad."

"Would.. You like to make something to eat with me? some things are a little hard to make with my size.."

Would it be weird to admit that she had always kind of wondered about that? Admittedly their space was a little larger than she thought it probably should be just for the three of them, but Aurum was a pretty big guy. Just looking at him in this space, it was clearly designed with him in mind, yet she could tell, just tell, that certain spaces were just.... not really big enough for his hulking frame.

It didn't help that it seemed like almost everything in the world were made to be held and used by a child when he got his hands on it. Sometimes it made her laugh.

...She didn't realize she'd be smiling until she cleared her throat.

"Yeah, sure, absolutely. What are you in the mood for?" Aeon asked, moving from the couch towards the kitchen of their living space.
