All the classes had been a blur, it had all just gone in the other ear and out the other. That wasn't unusual, Agnes often zoned out if the class was boring, but this time she had actually tried to concentrate and still failed.
And Agnes' mind was numb, she couldn't feel anything.
After the last class Agnes walked out the classroom like a sleepwalker, bumping into few people on the way. Her sister was here. Mia was here, and she hated Agnes. Just like Agnes had suspected, she hated her. It was somehow a dark relief, to know that the self-hate Agnes felt had a reason.
It was a relief, and it hurt. Or it would, if Agnes felt anything right now. But she didn't, it was all just black, cold and numb.

Agnes walked back to the dorms in a daze, not even sure if her feet were carrying her in the right place. But they were carrying her somewhere, and when Agnes looked up she was before a familiar door that wasn't hers. Agnes frowned a bit, why was she at Kadir's place? The guy would just be pissed to be bothered in the middle of the night, if he had a chick over or was just pain asleep.
But...somehow Agnes felt like she didn't want to go her dorm room and stay awake and think about what her sister had said. And Bel would freak out over her bruised cheek.
So Agnes raised her hand and knocked on the door.

Staying in one place for any significant amount of time was unusual for him, the young jinn was used to wandering. Yet here he was, living on this island, meeting new people and spending a lot of time with that girl Agnes. He wasn't sure what they're relationship was, but he liked being around her.

So he sat on his bed, cleaning his sword, he'd been training with it today, so he'd run the cloth over the blade, humming a little. He'd look up when he heard the knock, standing he'd set his scimitar on a table and step over to the door. Opening it he'd see her, "fuck, what happened?"

He'd usher her in, closing the door he'd gently take her chin in his hand and inspect her. "Did you even get these treated?" he'd motion for her to sit and grabbed an ice pack from his freezer, handing it to her along with water and a bottle of over the counter pain meds.

"Who did that?" he'd ask, looking her up and down, he could tell someone had beat on her and that was something be wouldn't stand for.

When Kadir opened the door and ushered Agnes in the whole time she didn't say anything, she just let it happen with a blank expression. Agnes observed Kadir as he observed her injuries, why had she come here? To fuck? To hang out? She didn't really want to do either.
"I didn't."
Agnes answered Kadir and her voice sounded like she heard it from underwater. Agnes felt like a kid when Kadir sat her down and gave her some ice and pain meds. Agnes took the ice, but looked at the pain meds blankly and left them. She didn't feel anything, her body and mind were both numb. Agnes felt like she could step into the sun and not feel a thing.

Naturally Kadir asked who had done this to her, and as Agned pressed the ice against her cheek she let her gaze fall on the floor.
"Mia. My little sister."

He remembered her mentioning that her relationship with her family wasn't ideal, that it was trouble. "Fuck....I'm sorry," he'd say, signing a little. Uncertain how to comfort her he'd put his arm around her shoulders, whatever happened he was sure she hadn't deserved this.

"She shouldn't have done this to you," he'd say, looking her over once more, "take the meds in a bit, it'll help with the swelling." Family shunning you, turning on you was something he'd experienced early on, with his grandparents and uncles. "Guessing you didn't report it," he'd say say, brushing the hair from her face.

"Look, you can't just let her do this, especially if it's gonna happen every time you two run into each other," he could tell already this wasn't a good situation, "I don't know what happened to cause all this, but...y'know, there's people here to help with that, and I'll help if he can," he had no idea what he could do to help, but he'd try.

As Kadir wrapped his arm around Agnes' shoulders she just kinda let go and let her head fall down and onto his shoulder. She wasn't leaning on her hurt cheek though. Agnes listened to Kadir talk, and offer advice, and though Agnes wanted to be thankful for it all she felt was meh. Agnes sighed as well and picked up a pain med tablet, fidgeting with it.
"I deserved it, so no point in reporting it."
Agnes said with a monotone, almost bored tone and the picked up the glass of water too and swallowed the pain meds.

"She said she's gonna take my life, and I have a feeling that if she tries I'll let her."

He'd look at her, "we all make mistakes, and yeah some can be pretty shitty," he'd say to her, his arm still around, "but whatever you did doesn't give them the right to hurt you, not ever." Kadir didn't know what she did, the things her actions caused, but he knew she didn't deserve this.

"Look, you're not going to let her kill you," he'd gently lift her chin so he could look into her eyes, "we talk to a councillor and through them we talk to her, you getting hurt isn't right." If this was back home he'd just threaten the girl, or maybe even use his magic to scare her off, but things were different here, there were options.

In truth he wasn't sure what to do, so he'd give the best advice he could. "I'll go with you and....yeah, we'll figure it out," he'd sigh 's bit, "just..don't let her hurt you Agnes."

Kadir was seriously trying to cheer Agnes up and give her advice, and Agnes realized she should probably listen. But the words Mia had said to her, about Agnes being a cowardly bitch, a monster and worst sister ever to exist, echoed in Agnes' head and made her not care about anything. Even when Kadir lifted her chin and Agnes looked into his eyes she thought the best option would be to just let Mia kill her.

"You don't know what I did, Kadir."
Agnes said with a dead tone, and looked down.
"I left my siblings to get tortured and beaten and live in a shithole, when I was supposed to be the one to protect them. I ran away like some spineless piece of shit."
Agnes sighed, and looked at Kadir's eyes.
"I could see it, you know? I could see it in Mia's eyes, all the bad things that happened to her. After 2 years she's become just like me. And I will never forgive myself for that. I deserve to die if Oscar has eyes like that too..."

"Agnes...," he'd place his hand on her cheek, looking into her eyes, "you dying won't the fix the past, her hurting you won't make her feel better." He'd sigh a bit, "her killing you, over this, it'll make everything worse," revenge didn't help anything, he knew that from experience.

"She's....what? thirteen to sixteen?" he'd ask, tilting his head, "I killed someone when I was that old, someone who did a lot of horrible things and he didn't regret ant of it, so believe when I say, it doesn't help, if anything it turns all those emotions to a poison."

This wasn't easy for her, he could tell that much, and he doubted it get easy anytime soon. "You say you failed her, that you ran?" he doubted it was that simple, she didn't seem like a coward to him, "then step up now, talk to the school, if you die then she'll be truly alone and lost. You know what happened, so the school, your sister, they'll all need you to help figure this out."

Those words Agnes could understand. Her killing you over this, it'll make everything worse. When Agnes had killed her father, it had not filled the hole made by hate and fear and sorrow and every other bad feeling Agnes had felt towards, what he had done to her. Agnes had just felt relieved, relieved he wouldn't hurt anyone, wouldn't hurt her siblings, anymore. Agnes blinked once, she could feel Kadir's hand on her cheek. She could see herself in Mia, see what killing Agnes would do to her. And Agnes didn't want that. She wanted to protect Mia from herself. Kadir was right. And as Agnes listened to him, really listened to him now, he shared something about himself, that he had killed as well. Agnes felt a connection, though a faint one.
Was this why she had come here?

Agnes lifted her hand and took Kadir's in it, pulling it down from her face. But she didn't let go of it, she felt like she needed to feel that warmth right now.
"I'm...right now I'm just going to leave her alone. I won't leave her, not ever again, but if I push it she'll drift ever farther away."
Agnes' tone was now tired, but at least it was something else besides dead. At times like this Agnes really wished she could sleep, just fall into that sweet, black void and take a break. But she couldn't, not anymore.

He'd give her hand a squeeze as she held it, listening to what she had to say, he worried about where this was all going. "Ok, just be careful," this wasn't a good situation, and sounded like it could easily get worse, "if she does this again...don't let her hurt you, run to the school if it happens again."

The half jinn sighed a bit, "when you think you're ready to try and talk to her ask your shrink, maybe he can set something up." A professional would know a bit more on how to handle this situation, how to deal with it without it falling apart into something worse, "you're sister is probably really confused, lot of conflicting emotions right now."

Kadir would give her a squeeze around the shoulders with his arm, a hug, "and I'm always around if you need anything, doors' always open to you." She was his friend, maybe even something more than that, "hang out here a while, don't think you have a concussion but gotta be careful still."
