Private Finished Bitter Blood

"School is just....school," he'd shrug, "classes are just that, none really stand out to me, guess cause I'm still settling back in." He'd tap a finger on the table, "I do like the literature class I guess, all the writing and and all that."

He'd clear his throat a little. "Guess books is something we got in common," he'd admit, his cheeks reddening a little, "got a buncha books stacked in my room, I'm reading Macbeth right now."

The vampire leaned back a bit. "That was the first thing I did when I got back, hoard a shit ton of books," he'd snort, "they'll keep me busy a while I guess."

He'd shake his head. "Nah, no friends really," he'd shrug.

He was smiling, well not quite smiling, but he did look less grumpy than before, which was an accomplishment. "Uh...sure....yeah....to all of those," he'd clear his throat, "haven't had any visitors to my dorm yet, but you can come by if you'd like." Yeah, this was all unexpected, but it seemed like a good kind of unexpected.

Friends? He'd blink in surprise and tilt his head. "Yeah, we can be friends.....uh....should we exchange numbers?" he'd ask, slowly pulling out his cell phone. "I can text you....or y'know...you can text me.....or text each other?" he said it all in his usual grumpy self, but there was a slight excitement in his voice.

The waitress would appear to take their order, Nathan would order a blood based dish and a soda. He calmsd a bit, and his face returned to it's full grumpiness. "So.......yeah, no roommate, so just come by whenever you want."

He'd blink in surprise at the way she'd worded that, but decided not to comment on how it could have been interpreted. "Uh yeah sure," he'd say, continuing, "just come by wherever." He'd tell her his dorm number to make it easier to find him whenever she wanted.

"To your place?" he was ninety nine percent sure her mother would know of him and his family. "Uh....sure....maybe..y'know....dinner at your place?...But y'know....blood for me," the thought made him a little nervous, but he was no coward.

The vampire would brush some hair from his eyes. "Next time we hang out though, I'm paying," he'd say with a grumpy grunt, "not letting you pay for everything."

The corners of his lips moved upward in almost a smile at her joking about making him go broke. "Better not " he'd snort, "at least until I get a job, then I can buy you a little extra stuff." His cheeks would very briefly flush when he said that, he wasn't sure why and it only lasted a second.

Their food came, his nose would twitch as the delicious scents hit it, his stomach would immediately growl. He quickly dug into the food, which came with a blood based jello desert.

"Its a lot better than the blood pack," he'd say with a grunt, "the place I got the pack from didn't warm the blood right." He'd make a face, "even had some cold congealed clot bits in it."

He'd eat one of the blood jello, it was so good he'd instantly down another, he'd glance at the last one and slowly he'd slide it over to her. "Here uh, try one, its really good," he'd say, his voice sounding a little less grumpy.

Her face brightening and enjoying the treat made him briefly smile before returning to his usual grumpy look. "Yeah, its pretty good," he'd take another bite of his food, enjoying the blood based foods, "definitely better than a badly warmed blood pack."

The vampire would finish his food relatively quickly, downing his blood based drink. "The drink was good too," he'd say with his usual grumpy grunt.

Nathan would then look to Amber. "So...uh....thank you," he'd say, that small sweet smile briefly appearing again, something Amber had managed to draw out a few times. "It was all good."
