For once, James was doing power training in a place where he didn't have to worry about accidentally starting a fire and burning everything down. Not that he ever really worried about that, but after the fire safety lecture, he really didn't want to piss off Liun. Again.

Putting on some music, he began working on mixing his fireballs and fire control together. Things like using a fireball to get the fire going, then controlling it to do what he wanted. Eventually he began to work in more difficult moves, like throwing a fireball and use the momentum from that to transition into a punch.

However, the longer he went, the wilder and more reckless he began to get with his powers, but the gym was mostly empty except for him, so there really wasn't anything to worry about.

Aj was suppose to work multiple times a week on his powers. He was suppose to to do so at all different times: happy, sad, angry, bored, tired, all of it. His emotions tended to make them uncontrollable.

As he walked towards the gym, he was surprised when he heard someone already there. Taking a deep breath, Aj peered in through the door and saw someone working on similar powers to what he had. Maybe they'd be willing to help him out some?

Not wanting to intrude, the Phoenix slipped just inside the door and sat on the ground. He understood that with things like this you needed to concentrate so he didn't want to interrupt. Golden eyes watched the display progress. It was getting more and more reckless as time went on, but he seemed to be relatively in control. Either way, Aj slipped his nullification bracelet off and into his pocket.

James didn't hear AJ enter, he was too focused on his own stuff. Without warning, James foot slipped from underneath him as he getting ready to hurl a fireball. Hitting the ground with an audible thud, he inadvertently launched the fireball in the direction of door. This shouldn't have been a problem, except now someone was there.

"HEADS!!" James yelled as loud as he could, wincing a little from the pain. Hopefully whoever it was could get out of the way before anything too bad happened. Pushing himself up from the ground, he'd jog over to where AJ was. "Hey dude, you alright? I lost my footing and well.."

Luckily for Aj, he had already taken his nullification bracelet off and had been watching. The slip and thud came as the fireball was accidentally launched in his direction. It's now or never.

Aj brought his hands up, palms facing towards the incoming fireball. As it hit his palms, it almost seemed to hit a wall as it flattened and dissipated away from Aj. He exhaled slowly, but was rather happy with how it had gone.

Aj blinked a couple times and the other person had jogged up to him apologizing. He put on a small smile before responding.

"It's ok. I was watching. I-I shouldn't have just come in."

James let out a sigh of relief when AJ confirmed he was fine. "No, you're good.. I should've been paying more attention. I would have toned it down a little.. Or a lot." James said, glancing back towards the area that he'd been using.

"So uhh, don't think I've seen you around much.. What's your name? I'm James." He chuckled a little bit at the rhyme, if anything maybe it would help to lighten the mood.

Aj smiled as James introduced himself. He held a hand out to him for a shake.

"I'm Aj. I've been h-here a bit. Just now kinda getting out."

His voice was timid, but a hint of smoothness to it. He was getting better at introductions and talking to people again. He was far from where he had been before the incident, but improvement was improvement.

"Don't worry about toning it down. I......I can kinda control fire too."

James chuckled and shook AJ's hand as he said he was just getting out. "Well, shit. You finally start exploring the school and I almost take your head off with a fireball." James joked.

Then AJ, hit him with the big one. He could control fire too. "I call bull." James said with a grin to make it clear he wasn't actually being serious. He'd reckoned there were others with fire powers on the island, but until now he had yet to meet any of them, except for maybe Ava. "Floors your's dude." he said with a slight head nod towards the training area, clearly inviting Aj to show him what he could do.

"W-well I...kinda stopped your...."

The invitation was out before Aj could really argue. He didn't have an excuse to not show something. He had come here to work on his powers. Might as well work on them now.

"Ok..."

Aj stripped off the hoodie abs set it down by his stuff. His shirt had two precise holes hemmed into them on his shoulder blades hat showed his scars. When in the middle he closed his eyes and took a breath focusing. Fire erupted from the scars and formed a set of wings of pure fire.

Opening his eyes, Aj looked down at his hands and allowed them to fill with fire, small at first but growing. His face appeared to be struggling to keep focus as he bit his lip. Eventually his eyes shut and the fire in his hands disappeared. All that was left was his wings.

"Welp...I'm working on it."

James watched as AJ showed off his powers. Massive flaming wings, and flame generation, not unlike James own fireballs. "Holy hell dude. That's.. That's really cool actually." James said with a grin. Even as the flame were dispelled.

"So, uh, can you fly?" James felt it was probably a stupid question to ask, but since AJ now had massive flaming wings it felt worth it to ask.

Aj put on a shy smile and looked down to his feet. He wasn't used to getting compliments and was even less used to getting compliments about his powers. He hardly ever used them or showed them off.

"Th-thanks. Uh, yea I can. It's just still really scary. I haven't figured out how to fully control it yet but that's why I'm here."

His voice got more confident as he spoke, but still held a little hesitation to it.
