pride untamed
Cordelia strode back to her seat, more so to keep any of the adrenaline from overwhelming her senses. She sat with her back straight, her ankles crossed beneath the stool at the counter top. Turning her gaze from the blonde officer to the tea, she swirlled the water with the bag to watch the color change. There was a tremble in her hands, and she could feel her heart rate rise. While she didn't trust him completely, he had certainly lowered his own threat level.
"Thank you." She started, wrapping her hands back around the cup to hide her own anxiety. "You are certainly a good person, Officer Genovese. Thank you for answering my questions, and now if you have any for me, feel free to ask them." She sipped at the drink, her mind still dancing with all the new thoughts that entered her head with the new information.
The way that it had been described - it felt like a once and a life time chance. To be able to not fear people wanting her dead just because she was close to the true holders of her surname. Could she still reach for what would make him proud even if she didn't take his place in the gang? Would she still be able to reach her goal as a child of pride if she was living with law enforcement?
