The brief moment Gabriel was examining her, Shay was doing the same. She didn't have the ability to feel the power of others as some might have, but Gabriel's was thick. Maybe if she knew him better, it would have been a comfortable weight, like Klaus' or Vito's, but at the moment, it suffocated her.

"Okay," Shay told Gabe when he ordered her a drink and told her to relax. She took the Shirley Temple with an appreciative nod to the waiter and took a small sip, never looking away from Gabriel. Shay wasn't so much afraid right then as she was uncomfortable for multiple reasons. One being that Gabe was an influential and attractive man.

Questions. Yes, Shay always had plenty of those. She figured the best thing she could do now was drop the act and just be Shay. That was terrifying, but it had to be done. The girl relaxed but remained in her sitting position.

Shay gave an easy smile that reached her eyes. "Tolerable? Just wait until you've been around me for more than fifteen minutes. Everyone says you're a Demon, or something close to it, but that doesn't feel right. So what are you? What do you really look like?" That seemed easy enough to start with.

Mikhainon relaxed on the recliner and picked up his pina colada again, taking sips of it as he waited for Shay to gather her nerve. He watched her on the corner of his eye. She was trying to relax now, but in a way most people relaxed during a crucial interview. Discomfort was thick in the air. It flattered him, if anything.

"My dear, unless you mean you start getting annoying, I don't mind. You should see the sort of company I keep."

Oh, that was a rather common question. He chuckled and sat up. "That would depend entirely on what your criteria of Demon is. I've been on this earth long, long ago, before your species even learned to speak, much less form organizations and belief systems. The term Demon is a creature that resides in Hell that feeds off the negativity of humans, is it not? By that definition, I am, what you would call, a Demon.

"But... that would be trying to fit too simple, modern concepts for a creature as old as time. After all, the moniker didn't come up until the medieval ages, following the rise of Christianity — and trust me, my dear, so much shit is because of the rise of Christianity. I have existed prior to the dichotomy of Heaven and Hell, angels and demons, good and evil, dark and light. None of that concerns me.

"Prior to Demon, I was called a malicious nature spirit. And prior to nature spirit, I was known to many tribes as a Pagan God. Back then, primitive humans had no knowledge of the world, and looked up to me as Caretaker and Creator. They built grand shrines, and dedicated statues, totems and festivals in my honor. In return, I would rain upon them blessings, guide them, and take care of them as a god should. Has... my influence actually changed?"

He gestured to the crowd, feasting, partying, and celebrating life. To Mikhainon, this hardly made any difference. He was still above them, and clearly worshiped. "But prior to godhood, I was already a powerful, capricious entity. I've never been attached to a certain name or title other than what I call myself. So, you tell me. What do you think I am?"

Shay listened, taking it all in. Somewhere along his story, she too reclined in her chair. It was somewhat sticky, yes, but Shay didn't care. Her suit was red anyway. Once Grabe had finished and asked her what she thought he was, Shay responded with, "powerful."

"You're powerful, and that's the only thing that's for certain. Everything else is just a simplistic branding because people think naming something might make them less afraid of it. So, I guess, you're all of those things and more."

Yes, that seemed right to Shay. Things weren't easily defined, especially not old things. "What kind of offerings do you consider the best or most accurate?"

Veronica could sense a bit of nervousness, particularly from Aedan. It was a tad bit unsettling since he seemed to be trying to hide it from her in a sense. Unfortunately, her powers made it really hard for him to do that, so Veronica had to pretend like she didn't notice his inner struggle. Of course, he would suspect that she knew despite this, but at the very least their attention wouldn't be brought to whatever it was that made him nervous. After all, if it were the other way around, Veronica would want him to leave it along.

Veronica made sure to stay close to Aedan as he led her through the crowd, she found herself keeping her eyes glued to the ground. Her face flushed in embarrassment as she trailed her friend like a child trying to keep close to a parent. Needless to say, it was a tad embarrassing, but she couldn't bring herself to conduct herself in a better manor. They were lucky she hadn't ran out of the party when she got there.

Veronica almost bumped into Aedan, but her eyes rose up just in time to see that it was time to stop. She was inches away from his back before she backed away, her blush slightly reddening for a reason she didn't really understand. It seemed like he didn't notice, or at least she hoped he didn't, and so she straightened herself up and tried to force a smile. He greeted another woman, perhaps a friend of his, and she wrapped him into a sweet hug and kissed him. This made her smile a bit. It was good to see her friend receive affection from other friends.

It made her feel warm somehow, though it made her curious as to why she was so affectionate to him. It was a curiosity that Veronica ignored, and didn't understand, but she felt like it wouldn't be the last time she questioned something like this. Her voice was caught in her throat when the girl introduced herself and her friend to her, and all she could do was nod. Veronica gave the girl, named Aylin, her hand and they shook. Veronica looked at her friend, named Bradely, and nodded.

Veronica brought her hand back and stared at her feet as she began shuffling them. She must've looked like a real dork now.

Aedan placed his arm around Veronica's shoulders, "hey..it's ok. Aylin is a good friend. Shell make sure we have fun." He gave her a kind smile.

He turned to Aylin and Brad, "she's new to the island so I'm showing her around." He blushed for a brief second..he didn't know why. "We met the other day she..uh...she stumbled on me practicing my violin."

"So the party looks fun." Lord, he'd forgotten to tell Veronica about his scars. His upper body was largely covered in scars. A lot of people don't react well to it.

So... This was awkward. It wasn't as if she wanted to go to the beach after her work, but when she stumbled onto the beach, there was some type of spark. Well, that would be the wrong thing to say. Due to Flayace's powers, she kind of stalked the beach. With her green eyes closed, the girl surveyed the area for the source of all the noise she had heard. For her, it wasn't everyday that there was a loud and flashy party on the beach. This small detour was enough to excite her.

The sometimes shy female went in further, so that she was visible to a few other people. Was she even allowed to be close to this type of thing? It looked like a closed party; everyone have someone to mingle with. Flayace looked out of place, unsure of herself in her khaki colored shorts and aqua tank top. She was not in a bathing suit, but that was he least of her problems. This random girl was sneaking up on a party that she hadn't been invited to. Though, how could she not?

((OOC: Anyone can snag her in, or if not, just pretend that she is observing everything~!))

Mikhainon smiled and raised his glass. That seemed a more apt answer than anything. "Right you are, little Shay."

Mikhainon considered the question, humming a bit. "The actual item doesn't matter as long as it holds some value, whether it be monetary or sentimental. I once granted a wish to a little girl that gave me her favorite teddy bear, and that teddy bear was so infused with love that she saw it as more important than her neglectful parents.

"On a more personal note, I do have a special fondness for the glamorous and luxurious. Think of it as something I picked up from Marie Antoinette."

Shay stared up at the sky, feeling the material of her swimsuit. "I think I'd like the sentimental things more."

Marie Antoinette, he'd said. As in the Archduchess of Austria? Yes, Shay assumed Gabriel was old. He had to be, talking about how he was born before names. Titles. Dates.

"Must be hard," Shay commented. "When you get to live long enough, is it hard to find things entertaining? Do you still see new things or people? Or is it all just 'been there, done that?'"

The longer she spent time with Gabriel, the less her fear was influencing her. Curiosity was taking over, and Shay loved to touch what she was interested in.

It felt an odd question to ask at the moment, but then, Shay was an odd child, "mind if I touch you?"

Veronica felt her teeth clench shut before she felt something wrap and her tense muscles relaxed. She looked at her left shoulder to see a hand and felt her shoulder lean into someone's chest. She didn't have to look at his face to know it was Aedan, but she looked at him anyway. Her eyes softened for a moment before she covered her face with her hat. If talking was hard a few moments ago, it was flat out impossible now. The poor girl was shaking in embarrassment, and she didn't know how to handle her emotions without looking like a loser.

Her face remained hidden, but Veronica heard everything that was said. She nodded at his statements, as if she needed to confirm that they were true, and she felt herself calm down a little as she thought about his violin playing. She liked listening to his music whenever he wasn't too shy to play it. It made her feel good inside, the gentle melody playing through the entire room, or wherever they were.

When the attention was off of her, Veronica lifted the hat up a little and looked up at him again. Then her attention was back at the girl that he had been talking to before. She seemed happy with the man she was with it seemed. Veronica smiled warmly at the couple, most of her face still hidden behind the hat. Aylin certainly seemed like a nice person. If only Veronica wasn't so shy about meeting new people. Then they could be fast friends.

everything was going so well. More and more people were showing up as things were picking up. She gave a quick glance around and instantly noticed how close Shay was getting to Gabriel. She shook her head while smiling and mumbling something about sneaky witch or something to that effect. Either way she wasn't too upset, she had no real interest in Gabriel, and if she did there was no way that Shay could have competed with her own stacked figure. Still though, she got great delight in thinking that the sinister little girl needed to take a dip in the pool later.

Her attention focused back to Bradley, Aedan and Veronica. She wondered now what the deal was with Aedan and Veronica. They seemed very close. A quick smile crossed her lips as she adjusted her long tail, pulling it in so that no one would trip over it. "So You two eh? Is there something there?" She teased as gave the pair a little wink and wrapping her arm in Brad's.
