Celeste just held onto Shale, comforting him as he cried, murmuring to him softly, she could only guess what he was feeling at the moment. She had had a family growing up and she still had a family around her, and the idea of not having them, and being alone like Shale had been before she brought him here, torn at her heart. She promised herself that she'd always make sure he had a family and was taken care of. She must introduce him to her niece, Zora, she would make sure he was taken care of always too.

When Shale finally pulled away, his tears having stopped somewhat, Celeste brushed his cheek softly. "You don't need to thank me, honey..." Celeste said with a very warm and gentle smile. Not wanting him to feel indebted to her in any way. Then when she heard him say his heart felt like it was going to explode with happiness, she just laughed and wrapped her arms around him tightly when he hugged her again, smiling when he called her "mom". It made her feel very all warm and fuzzy inside.

"So, what shall we do to celebrate this happy day, my little Shale, my son...?" she teased him lovingly as he held onto her.

Shale was so intensely overcome by emotion in this moment that he legitimately thought for a few moments he might faint, more so than ever when Celeste called him her son. His arms were draped limply around her neck, in general sort of ragdolled due to the surreal outpour of joy from them both.

"I don't...what should we do? We could, um...we could...aah, it's just so hard to think right now about anything other than how wonderful this all is!" He really didn't want to let go, as if doing so would let the moment slip away, but after another several minutes he finally parted, sniffling and scooting back against the headboard of her bed. "...Can I cook you breakfast, mom? I know I haven't done it before, but I want to try my best for you. I want to do so many things for you, I just...I can't tell you how happy I am, there aren't enough words!"

"Cook me breakfast?" Celeste stated, in surprise, when Shale offered to cook for her. She didn't know if that was such a good idea. He did, after all, eat rocks, and she wasn't sure Shale even knew what half the foods even where. But as he looked at her with such a look of hope and wanting to show her his love, she felt herself giving in. What was the harm? The worst he could do is make something inedible and Celeste would have to eat a sandwich later.

"Alright, I'll let you make me breakfast, but no rocks, okay?" she said teased with a grin, leaning back against the headboard too, and then nudging him playfully. "What did you have in mind, ma chere?" she asked more seriously as she looked at him lovingly. "Pancakes, toast, an omelette, maybe just cereal?" she said giving him options.

Shale grinned at this, giggling at her joke and snuggling her one more time before sliding off the bed, bouncing back on his heels in excitement. His hands were still a little jittery and shaky, the emotions not having fully calmed yet. "Alright! I'll make something really good, don't worry. Um, you can...I kind of want to surprise you. Maybe while I make you something you could...oh! Hold on, I'll be right back!"

The boy ran out of her room, sliding a little on the floor in his haste but catching himself, and then hurrying to the bathroom. After ten minutes or so, he came back into Celeste's room with a big smile on his face, waving for her to follow him. "Okay, I have something for you to enjoy while I'm making breakfast." He seemed pretty excited to show her, whatever it was.

"Careful, my love..." Celeste grimaced when Shale slid on the slippery hardwood and almost felt as he crossed the room. She knew she was acting like a worried old mother hen, but she didn't want him to fall and hurt himself.

Wondering what Shale had up his sleeve, Celeste puffed up the pillows behind her and leant back against the headboard comfortably, smiling at the idea of her and Shale becoming a family. It had all happened so fast, but she couldn't think of it happening any other way. He was her darling boy, and soon, he'd be her son. The thought made her giddy with happiness. Yes, she could even give him her last name too for his official documents, he'd then be Shale Forestier... she loved the ring of that...

"What are you up to, Shale, my amazing son?" she said deliberately, laughing happily as she did, and just because she wanted to say the words again.

When Shale came back after a bit, looking all excited, Celeste grinned and sat up properly to look at what he had brought her. "What have you got there?" she asked curiously.

Shale shook his head, opening up his hands to show that there was nothing in them. "Nothing here! It's in the bathroom, come on!~" He came back over to her to take her hand gently, still kind of shaky from how overwhelming it all was. Whenever they made it to the bathroom, he did a goofy little bow and waved her in, opening the door to reveal a particularly bubbly bubble bath, warmed up very nicely, with a few complementary scented candles arranged as well.

"It might be a silly idea, but, um...yeah! I thought you might enjoy relaxing in here for a bit while I'm cooking for you. I can come and get you whenever I'm done, and...umm...is that okay?" He looked up at her with an unmistakable twinkle of pure affection and happiness in his eyes, hugging her once more and holding her close. "I'm going to keep saying it because it's true, but I love you."

Celeste laughed at Shale's antics and then threw the bed covers to the side, sliding over to the edge of the bed and taking his hand as he lead her to the bathroom, peeking around the door, she stopped and smiled at what he had done for her. It was a bubble bath. One of the things she most enjoyed in life. Glancing over at him, she then pulled him closer as he hugged her tightly, telling her again how much he loved her.

"You are the most thoughtful person ever..." she murmured, as she stepped into the bathroom, noticing the scented candles and smiling at this. He had even used her favourite bath scents. "Thank you, sweetheart," she said as she glanced at Shale so very touched by the gesture. "You are a doll," not caring now what he ended up making her for breakfast. It really didn't matter, did it? Not when everything he was doing was because he wanted show her much much he cared.

"I will most certainly enjoy my bath...." she stated, "while you prepared my surprise breakfast." she grinned, feeling very happy,, "But you call me if you need any help, okay?" she said as she playfully tapped his nose.

Shale was absolutely ecstatic that Celeste seemed to appreciate the bath he had set up; it warmed his heart that his gesture was taken well. The gargoyle gave his soon to be mom another, perhaps too tight hug before nodding and rushing out of the room, closing the door behind him. "Just relax, mom! You'll have breakfast ready in no time." His heart and mind were both racing in almost equal measure as he headed into the kitchen, hands a bit shaky as he started scanning over the various appliances and ingredients.

It soon dawned on Shale that he hadn't the faintest wisp of an idea of what to do in here, what anything at all did, or how to even begin to approach it. Searching through the kitchen for another few minutes, he finally stumbled on an old, musty family cookbook, cracking it open and squinting at the pages. French. Of course it was in French, why wouldn't it be? Well...he'd simply have to go off of the picture of the finished product. Crepes? They looked like thin pieces of...beige...paper. Well, he did vaguely remember Celeste mentioning making these before, and the gist of the ingredients needed. Gathering a bowl, whisk, and an assortment of probably correct ingredients, he set to work on what he was sure couldn't end up as that much of a disaster. Hopefully.

Enjoying the bath Shale had drawn for her, just relaxing among the scented bubbles, Celeste began to hum a soft song. She thought about how thoughtful Shale was and how she couldn't wait to make an appointment with the lawyer Monday and start the adoption papers.

After about an hour, Celeste got out of the tub, put on a robe and padded down to the kitchen to see how breakfast was coming along. As she near the kitchen, Celeste could smell something funny... it didn't smell like crepes. In fact, she could not identify the smell - at all. It was an odd combination of eggs, vanilla and... pepper? Confused, she entered the kitchen, and stopped dead in her tracks.

There was spilled milk, flour everywhere... a dozen broken eggs, whose shells were all over the counter, sugar on the counter, a pepper grinder, parsely sprigs everywhere, and big bowl of batter ...but there was just as much batter on the walls, ceiling as the bowl, ... and, lord, was that a tea towel caught in the ceiling fan?

"Mon dieu! Shale?" Celeste said dumbfounded, "Are you making ... pancakes?" she asked slightly horrified by what she was seeing.

Needless to say, Shale had gotten entirely in over his head as far as this whole cooking experiment went. He had batter all over him, several broken whisks were scattered around, he had somehow lost his socks during the ordeal. When Celeste showed up and exclaimed at the scene, his eyes widened in horror, not even realizing more than ten minutes had passed. "Wh...mom! What are you doing here already!?" He scrambled to find a towel and started frantically wiping down the counter, very nearly slipping in the catastrophic batter mess.

"It isn't, uhhh, it's still cooking! I'm working on...everything's totally fine!" Shale gave her a strained, panicked smile, then continued fruitlessly scrubbing at a section of countertop and inevitably making it much worse. One hand was just sitting on an entirely too hot griddle, the batter smeared all over it bubbling and sizzling, but with his heat resistance it didn't bother him much at all. "I'll have everything ready in no time, so, aaah, just enjoy your bath!"
