Gabe felt his cheeks go warm at Yuki's explanation. It was very flattering to hear that his boyfriend thought so much of him but having heard the compliment being used to explain their relationship to his mom? Well, that left him a bit more flustered. He originally had wanted to be upset with his mom for being nosy since it felt so invasive yet at the same time he knew that he should try to be more open about the relationship. Gabe hadn't mentioned it for nearly six months and it wasn't fair of him to be annoyed when Catalina probably had nothing more than a genuine interest in her younger son's relationship.
He wasn't quite sure how to follow up with such a nice compliment, so he just kind of let out a small laugh and guided Yuki to the chair next to him. His boyfriend's hand, however, remained firmly entwined with his and he gave a small reassuring squeeze.
Catalina couldn't help but let out a small "Awww!" at the white-haired boy's explanation. It was a bit vague and she did want to know more about how the two got together but Yuki's compliments were very sweet and genuine. She didn't have to turn around to look at the young man to know that he very much meant what he said. "Well, I'm glad to hear that. I know Gabriel is a very sweet child; he always has been. Even if he tries to hide it behind his serious expression when he wants to be left alone." She laughed as her son sputtered in argument before she hushed him.
"I'm teasing, Gabriel, don't be silly. But I'm glad he's treating you right, Yuki. And you've definitely been a positive influence on his life. It makes a lot of sense looking back now that his mood got significantly better just after Valentine's Day..." She let out another laugh as Gabe just seemed to sink in his chair slightly. "So, if you got together in February, that means your six month is coming up! Oh, how exciting! And Gabriel's birthday, too!" She beamed, her attention shifting to start getting the rice pilaf started as the chicken breasts were beginning to fry. A strong aroma of spices and cooked meat began to fill the kitchen and dining room.
