"Good afternoon, grandfather. Sterling said you were looking for another assistant?" Zoraida stated as she laid some contracts that needed signing on her grandfather's desk before him.

"Mhm," Rafael answered somewhat absentmindedly as he finished looking over the proposal in his hands. "I need someone else to help around the office. This whole acquisition and resort idea is taking up way more time and manpower than I had originally thought, not to mention, I also have the triples now," he said referring to the Bakenekos he had adopted six months earlier.

"Understandable," Zoraida said as she waited for Rafael to sign the other contracts. "I know you don't want to impose, but I can always lend you my PA or even Sterling if you wanted."

"It's fine, granddaughter," Rafael said as he got up from his desk and handed her back the contracts dated and signed. "This new candidate seems quite promising, so hopefully I won't be in a bind for too much longer," he said as he escorted Zora back out of the office and into the waiting area to see if the job applicant in question had arrived or not.

More or less the decor and feeling of the office and reception area.Trendy but elegant and laidback.

He hadn't been on the island long but Kalvin knew he wanted to do something productive here. There was studying, but at this point, he was mostly just reviewing the lessons he learned before he gave up on studying before. He wasn't too excited to start college all over again, but Kal knew how much his memory on medical technicalities can fail him.

And so, here he was, sitting in a posh but somewhat rustic reception area, wearing the most formal clothes he had when he ran from his past life. He figured he'd go out to actually shop for more clothes but the stipend the school gave wouldn't be enough to cover that. Heck, if there was an underground fight club here, he was sure he could make money from there. While he hasn't found one yet or whether one exists at all in Manta Carlos, the best Kal could do is to get an actual job.

In one side of the room, an office door opened and a pair walked through. They were better-dressed than most of the other employees in the place so Kal decided they held high positions. Also, they held an aura of authority and power with their statures alone. As the woman stepped away, Kal stood up and straightened his grey long sleeve shirt. When the older man looked over to him, he gave a polite smile. He knew enough to wait until he was addressed before he did or said anything.

As his granddaughter walked away, Rafael focused his attention on the reception area and spotted the young man waiting. Watching as he got to his feet, Rafael nodded to himself quietly. That was a good sign. First impressions had been good so far.

"Mr. Brenato?" he enquired, holding out his hand in greeting. "I'm Rafael Del Bosque. You are here for the position, yes?"

"Yes, sir," Kal said, giving a nod. He stepped forward and reached to shake the man's hand. Luckily, he was offered a right hand to shake, which meant there wasn't much need to give much attention to the missing left hand. He made sure to give a somewhat firm handshake, as he was taught. If he got accepted, this was going to be his first job after so long in underground fighting rings. Notably, it's going to be his first job in Manta Carlos. He needed to make it work.

"You can call me Kal, sir," he offered as he pulled back his hand. He made sure to stand straight and talk with confidence. He wasn't all that too nervous but that doesn't mean there's no anxiety behind his polite smile. He'd never really thought to get a job like this before. When he sent out his applications, he didn't really expect a response, much less an interview. Not from a big company like this, at least.

"Kal," Rafael said as he returned the firm, but not too firm, handshake. "Come this way please," he said as he escorted the young man back to his office and gestured for him to take a seat in one of the two empty chairs in front of his desk.

"So, as I am sure you are aware," he started as he looked at the young man before him. "I am looking for someone who can do clerical work, run company-related errands, maybe answer phones once in a while, that kind of thing," he explained.

"Is that something you'd be interested in?" he asked curiously.

Kal took quick stock of the general ambiance in the office as he followed the older man in. He took the offered seat, his back remaining somewhat stiff. He neatly placed his hand and the stub on his lap as he sat. Better let his potential employer see it now. Not that Kal's any less efficient without his other hand. "Well, of course, sir," he answered politely still. "Although, I am still new to Manta Carlos. I assume it won't be too different from the clerical work outside of the island."

Rafael smiled a little at this. "No, not at all. Though some of the people you will be dealing with here might be a tad more, uh, eccentric ... than off the island," he explained, very aware that a rich old-world vampire might be a bit more difficult to deal with than a human, but he was sure the young man in front of him would not have to worry about handling such clients - at least not on a normal basis.

"Do you have any experience with office work, or dealing with the public?" Rafael said as he leaned back a bit in his chair.

Kal nodded. "I'm sure I'll find a quick way to handle anyone too eccentric," he said. How hard could it be to take phone calls from fish people or plant people? Plus, he's pretty sure that the clients of such a big company are business owners or maybe even owners of smaller companies. They shouldn't be too difficult to speak with.

"Yes. I've been privy to handling some of the paperwork in a cafe I worked in before I got here. When I was younger, I helped my father manage our little store back at home. He'd taught me how to do some of the more clerical bits of the work." Kal licked his lips. Had he done PR work before? He wasn't sure that calling for bets in the underground fighting rings counted. "I also pull my experience with dealing with the public from those past jobs. Mostly, I've worked in food service jobs in the past. Being a waiter, I've learned now people can test one's patience. If there's anything I have, sir, it's a lot of patience and a cool head."

"That's good to hear. I like people that are adaptable." Rafael nodded, liking what he was hearing. "Most of our clients are actually located internationally, DB Holdings is European based, and internationally recognised as a world leader in its sector," he explained.

"We have many subsidiaries, Woodland Imports, my granddaughter's company is one of them," he told Kal. "She is the woman you might have seen leaving my office earlier," he pointed out.

"And what hours are you available? I am hoping to find someone who is flexible and might able to travel or work weekends?" he said.

Kal smiled, getting a little excited that he was giving a good impression. This interview was going well, so far. He nodded when he'd heard about the granddaughter. He had suspected they were close. He had suspected a family relation between them, too.

"Unfortunately, I'm also going to Starlight Academy, sir. Since I get only a few classes in the day, I'm sure I can find time to do the work needed. My classes are often in the morning hours, too." Being the only person who took the major he did had its perks. "My weekends are free so I can work or travel if I need to."
