"Always diving? So you must be natural with water...", Symlink didn't know how spot on he might be, but Neon has caught on it yet... "You are part of the merfolk, aren't you?", Neon mused calmly, "I know little of them, mostly from fictional lore and a few from culture classes for further."

“Yes, I am natural with water.” He was sort of piecing together what that meant in his head, assuming that it meant he was able to breathe normally underwater.

“Merfolk?” Sushi wasn’t sure if he’d heard that word before. He certainly couldn’t think of what it meant. “What is merfolk?”

"Merfolk?", Symlink inquired with equal curiosity, "What's that, dad?". "A merfollk may go under different names, depending on the lore. Mermaid, Siren, Umiboozu, Kappa... It really varies, but the common trait is them living within the water. Be it deep into the seas, or on the lakes, or high on where the rivers are born. That's how much I know for now.", Neon explained.

Sushi listened carefully, doing his best to make out what was being said. From the sound of it, he was a merfolk. “Yes, I live in water so I am merfolk.” Though he didn’t quite enjoy his time living in the water, it was lonely and quite scary. The fish were nice though, mostly.

“Can you become fish?” He wondered if they could become any animal, although fish could mostly just breathe in water, so he considered that it might’ve been a bad one.

"Living in the water... I wonder how it is.", Symlink could only wonder, but Neon on the other hand... Well, Neon had been familiar. "I can't breathe underwater. I don't know how to.", Symlink looked a bit sad. "It's difficult, even with gills and the like, for an air breather to breathe water, or so I think. But I managed to pull it after enough power classes.", Neon stated.

Sushi turned to Symlink. “That is okay. What animals can you turn into?” He didn’t want Symlink to be sad, so he tried to change the talk from what he couldn’t do to what he could. And it looked like one day Symlink would be able to breathe underwater, if his dad could and they looked similar. So that certainly would be something to look forward too.

"Hm... Squirrel, duck, a few flying birds, but nothing as amazing as what dad can pull off. I hope to be like dad someday.", Symlink explained. It was clear it didn't take much to cheer him up. "That and since, well, he is partially digital data materialized... I might be able to alter him someday. But I don't wanna do so unsupervised, nor against his consent.", Neon elaborated, although there was a faint hint of fear and hesitation in his tone and face.

Sushi clapped for Symlink. “That is good.”

There was a lot in what Neon said that went right over Sushi’s head. The fish lad had never even learned about computers yet, let alone digital data.

“I am sorry, I do not understand. I am still not so good at talking.”

Symlink's ears lit up a little more and his tail's projection turned inot a holographic exclamation point. "Ah, what dad means is that... I'm a computer program but physical.", the fox boy explained, "In a sense... Mom is a computer!", and that never failed to cause Neon to choke a laugh in his own throat, it is a tale he is not proud of talking of, and at the same time kind of hilarious.

Sushi didn’t seem to move much, still quite confused about this. His understanding of what a mom or dad were was already flimsy at best, and computers were completely unexplored territory.

“What is a computer? Or a computer program? I do not know those words.”
