They had packed up their things, and had gotten all ready for the beach. He had packed a couple extra snacks, just in case they managed to run out. He figured that half the weight they carried was built up of snacks and food products, but he didn't care. There was always the possibility. The scent of brine and salt hit him and he wrinkled up his nose. Thankfully, his sunglasses protected his eyes from the salty ocean breeze. The seagulls whirled around in the sky, looking for their next meal.

The heat soaked deep into his skin, and he squinted. He preferred the cool chill of winter, but the warmth of summer wasn't too bad. If you were dressed well, of course. "It's hot." About as big a compliment as a sunny day would ever get, Ty trudged on, his feet dragging a little more as they hit the sand. This adventure was his idea, and he was starting to regret not taking his roommate somewhere else. Like indoors. Dropping his bag on a spot a short distance away from the shore, he stood with his hands on his hips, staring at the ocean crashing relentlessly against the shore. Stooping, he shook out two towels, laying them neatly out on the sand. The grains were burning by now, and it probably wouldn't feel too good to step on the ground barefoot. There were nearby beach umbrellas set out for patrons, and he uprooted one, carrying it back to their little campsite. Burrowing it down into the sand, Ty nodded in satisfaction at his temporary spot. "Well. There's the ocean. Have fun, I suppose."

<div align=center>Levi was practically buzzing by the time they ended up at the beach, he'd seemingly turned into a small child over the last half an hour and it'd probably take a little while more before he calmed down and the novelty wore off. The scent of the sea was strange to him, it was heavy and bitter yet somehow it smelled good. Ty was right, this was nice. The cawing of the seagulls above his head made him crane his neck up to look at them, he'd seen them before, of course he had. The school was close enough to the sea that the gulls frequently made roost upon the roofs.

Levi was the complete opposite to Ty in the fact that he craved the heat. The way the sun warmed his skin made him purr, he desperately wanted to curl up in the sand and go to sleep for an hour or two - he most likely would have done if not for the fact that he'd probably end up being drowned by the incoming tide. Levi didn't want to die just yet. He was happy with his life. The ocean was pretty, it stretched out before him like a huge, glittery blanket and Levi wanted to throw himself at it. "Wow look how big it is! Ty look at it!" He'd seen it from atop the school buildings, but it was even more exciting when you could touch it.</div>

Settling himself down on one towel, he wriggled himself around, trying to create a small hollow in the sand that he could fit himself comfortably into. "Yes, very big." It covered over half the world, of course it was big. Jaded to wonders like the sea, Ty felt indifferent to the whole thing. He supposed it was pretty, but not pretty enough to capture his attention for more than a couple seconds. Hadn't Levi seen the ocean before from afar?

"Go touch it. See if you can find any shells, here." Standing back up, he relinquished the comfort of his hollow, suddenly interested in finding a good shell to take home. Hands in his pockets, he made his way out to the shoreline, standing in the wet sand as the water swirled around his ankles. He could feel it trying to tug him back into the depths, and he stooped to hunt around in the sand. The sand that was deeper under the water was more prickly with broken shells and other debris, and he rummaged carefully until he latched onto a small, glittering piece of what looked like a pearl. It was a shell, of course, but it was dark grey, with a rippling overcoat of varying colours that changed with each movement. "Here. Look, it's a shell. I think its a mussel shell. Isn't it pretty?"

<div align=center>Levi warily made his way down to the shore, staring at the water wide-eyed and curious. It lapped at the shore, threatening to flood over his feet and make them wet. He looked up again, scuttling over to Ty and staring at what he'd just picked up. It looked pretty in the light, the dark colours of it's shell reflecting back in the sun and giving it a pretty, purple sort of sheen. Levi wrapped a hand around Ty's wrist to draw it closer to his face to get a better look. "I want to find one!" He let the man's hand go and skittered away up the beach to find his own shell.

His eye caught something lying on the sand, as he made a grab for it a wave flooded up, snatching his prize away from him and dragging it back to where it had come from. That was his, the sea spat it out and he refused to let it take it back. The little demon pounced in after it, snatching it from the water and holding it above his head like he'd just picked up some long lost treasure. Though on closer inspection, it was no where near as exciting as he hoped it would be. "Look! Look what is this? It's not as pretty as yours though." He held it up to Ty's eye line, it was a dried out sand dollar, though Levi had never seen one of those before.</div>

Ty's hand was siezed and drawn closer to Levi's face, and he watched with mild amusement. He hadn't thought it was quite that incredible of a find, but it was almost cute to watch Levi bounce around. Just as he was about to add something, Levi darted away, apparently to go find one of his own. He was about to call out to be careful, but stopped himself in time. It wasn't like he really cared, after all, right?

Dropping the old mussel shell in his pocket, he watched as Levi chased his prize and rescued it back from the ocean. Stepping close to Levi, he carefully took hold of the boy's wrist, examining the little whitish pancake. "It's a sand dollar. Mermaid money. Find enough and you can dry them out in the sun and string them up, you can make wind chimes out of them. This one is a very nice one, good job." It wasn't incredible, but he had definitely seen worse.
If there was one sand dollar around, there would probably be a couple more. "Maybe we can even find a horseshoe crab. Those are fun to spot. They look like armoured little pancakes with tails."

<div align=center>Levi seemed happy with his sand dollar, even more so when Tyberius said that he'd be able to make wind chimes out of them if he found some more. Although, Levi didn't really know where he could hang a wind chime if he made one. It could always go in the bathroom he supposed, bathrooms were often beach themed, weren't they? Levi didn't really know why though. He supposed it was something to do with water. He tilted his head to the side when Ty mentioned something called a Horseshoe Crab, a pancake with a tail? That sounded cute. Levi wanted to find one. "Crabs have claws! I saw a picture of one in a book in the library." He hadn't read anything aside from the caption though.

His eyes flickered to Ty's right arm, noticing something that he hadn't noticed before. Is that a tattoo? It was nice though, it gave the man an edgy sort of look, though Levi was far too stubborn to admit to himself that he was attracted to that. "You have a tattoo?" Levi asked, eyes darting up to meet Ty's this time. Of course he'd never noticed it, Tyberius was one to cover up an awful lot. Deep down somewhere Levi wished he wouldn't. "I never noticed..."</div>

Ty didn't know whether horseshoe crabs had claws like regular ones, but he supposed it would be interesting to investigate. The closest he had been to one was looking at a very old petrified one in a museum. "Normal crabs do. I don't think horseshoe crabs do." Really, the only thing he remembered about them is they looked like massive bugs once they were flipped upside down.

Levi was staring at him again, and Ty stared back, his eyes narrowing, wondering what he was staring at. Tattoo. His hand immediately slapped over his shoulder, trying to hide the majority of his tattoo. His hand was fixed over the head, his fingers covering up the exposed fangs. He couldn't do much about the body, but he supposed this was good enough coverage for now. He had a tendacy to forget that he even had it — it was always hidden beneath his clothes, and once you were used to something like that being on your body, you tended to not think about it after a while. "It's nothing." Shrugging it off, Ty folded his arms, avoiding Levi as he stepped back into the water. Shuffling around further into the ocean, he nudged over a little rock, uncovering a tiny little starfish underneath. It looked paler than the live ones, and felt hard, too. Figuring it must be dead, he grasped the handful of sand that it was on, picking the uninteresting rocks away and washing the lingering sand off. "Here. Isn't it pretty?"

<div align=center>Levi blinked, confused as to why Ty had shrugged it off so quickly. People liked to show off body art, right? "It's nice though.." He added in a soft undertone, staring after his room mate as he shuffled back toward the sea. Though he immediately forgot his confusion as he saw Ty reach down to pick something up. Chasing into the sea after him to see what it was, pausing and squeaking softly as the water lapped at his ankles. It felt cold to Levi and made him pick his feet up awkwardly in an effort to get them away from the water.

"Oh! What is it?" Levi asked, reaching out and making grabby hands at the little starfish Tyberius had picked up, he stared at it, jabbing one of it's legs with the tip of his finger. "How do you know if it's dead or not? What if it's just sleeping?" He wasn't even sure if starfish could even go to sleep, they were weird, he didn't even really know if they were actually animals or not. It was tiny and cute. Levi wanted to find one too. Though before he could run away and find out, something moving caught the corner of his eye. Whirling around to see what it was, the little demon pounced on it, the water splashing loudly as he made a grab for it.

Yanking out the creature and presenting it to Tyberius, it turned out to be a small crab that was waving it's legs in protest of being taken out of his watery home. "This is a crab, isn't it?"</div>

Allowing Levi to grab at his hand, Ty opened his fingers up a little more, displaying the little starfish more fully. "Dead ones are usually hard and pale. The live ones have more colour, and can flex their little arms and legs. " It was the same principle for people, really. When people died they lost their colour and mobility of limbs as well. He didn't think that starfish or fish really slept; when he had a fish tank, the fishes never stopped swimming around. They seemed to just be tireless animals, even though he knew that they somehow had to sleep.

"Yes. Though it doesn't look very happy about being abducted from it's home." That had to be the first live creature they had found in the water today, and from the way the crab was waving around, it didn't look too pleased about this development. "Be careful of the pincers, it'll get you if you're not careful." He bet Levi would have fun with a tiny fishtank in their dorm. It would be something to change the scenery, anyway. Maybe he could ... Look into finding the boy a present.

<div align=center>Levi giggled softly at Ty's description, his tail swaying softly back and forth behind him. He was happy, it seemed, a nice change from the grumpy little demon that had barely wanted to come out from under the bed. Levi noticed a change in Tyberius' behavior, as well, though he didn't say anything. Saying anything would only increase the risk of Levi drowning suspiciously. "Do you think we can find a live one?" He asked, "if I swim do you think they will be in the water?" He seemed to be getting more and more excited about the prospect of swimming, he'd never done it before. The only times Levi had really come into contact with water was for baths and showers.

He glanced back to the crab as Ty spoke again, frowning just a little. "You think?" He placed the creature flat on his hand for a moment, watching it stare back at him with those beady, black little eyes. Be careful of the pincers, it'll get you if you're not careful. Too late. Just as Ty came to the end of his sentence the angry little crab got a hold of Levi's thumb and closed his claw around it. "Nyeeeh! Why'd you do that you little asshole? I'll crush your shell!"</div>
