The woman watched him carefully and offered him a modest smile. But, Joshua held no response to her and simply waited for her to reveal which book she wanted. Her scent... was irritating his nose, but he kept his expression unreadable.

There were many creatures and humans on this island that had very strong and unsavory scents. But, his preference of customers were humans or those who hid their differences. He disliked those who flaunted their differences... because he hated being reminded of his own.

Joshua kept his gaze away from her and merely stared at the bookcase before them. But, was beginning to feel as though this woman was waiting for him to say something. His gaze began to hardened into a frown, and she seemed to finally give up waiting for conversation.

“The Third Crusade, eleven ninety-one.” She informed him, with a tone that was slightly gloomy. Joshua moved forward without hesitation and reached for the book.

“Tell me if you may, what do you live for?”

Joshua paused as he gripped the book... and frowned... as he felt... a light sting from her words. Her tone was thoughtful not vicious, but it affected him... He knew the answer... or rather... lack of... answer, but that wasn’t the problem... He didn’t like how her question had made him feel.

It should have made him feel nothing.

“Anything else?” Joshua asked her firmly, his gaze hard and unfriendly as he held the book out for her. His chest was tight with anger... and discomfort... but he refused to acknowledge the feeling.

She watched and she observed Joshua. His knack to remain silence only bothered the fox, he didn't even visually acknowledge her requests, he just does it. In all her years it was the silent ones that were hard to figure out, simply because they did not talk. Communication is key for two people to know one another, this one was refusing her that privilege. Was she offended? Not exactly, but it was bothersome on her part.

The boy even denied her hope for an answer to her question, she would get her book but that no longer satisfied her. Savannah's ears drooped and her expression fell. It felt as if he was forcing himself to be around her. "I met a young Swedish lad on a field littered of humans, he was one of the few still breathing from his wounds." She began. There wasn't much of a point to make from her tale, but he felt like sharing it regardless.

"I traversed the plains finding any survivors, each one I found I would ask them that question I asked you." Savannah reached her hand take take take the book from Joshua. She raised it up to eye level and gazed over it briefly. It brought out a small smile, possibly from the past memories. "Each one gave self centred answers. Not that to think of ones self is wrong, but this boy said something different."

She folded her arms and held the book close to her chest as if to treasure it. The fox gave Joshua a longing look. "He told me that he did not know, he was lost and sort to seek an answer in the Holy lands. That was when I shattered his faith and beliefs, at first the lad thought I was an angel or agent of the devil, but am I neither for I am a fox. I catered for the boy and we ended up travel for the rest of his days." Savannah heaved a sigh.

The only down fall to her ventures was the lifespan of her companions. "I believe this is all." She said in answer to his question.
