A young, almost worried, voice could be heard rather clearly to Joshua from behind the counter which he currently resided.
Two young girls had entered his store and were currently behind one of the large bookcases whispering amongst themselves. Joshua’s features hardened as he continued to hear their irritating banter. But, his attention was steeled on the words within the novel he was idly reading.
“I just wanted to see what all the fuss was about.†The other female returned, “He doesn’t seem that bad...â€Â
They had arrived ten minutes ago and were excessively speaking amongst themselves about rumors they had heard about him. He recognized the younger female, but her friend seemed to be unfamiliar with him or his bookstore.
The female he was not familiar with, was interested in buying something to see for herself what kind of man he was. But, her friend was reluctant to go through with it...and thus their entire reason for being here.
Joshua’s gaze drew away from the novel within his grasp and found himself looking outside. The colors of autumn were still so vibrant and he found himself becoming mildly distracted.
But his mind wasn’t on the colors...
Everything was slowly withering away...dying... and that’s all he could seem to focus on. His emerald gaze remained dull even as he viewed something that he didn’t hate...
