I told you not to come in here...”

A young, almost worried, voice could be heard rather clearly to Joshua from behind the counter which he currently resided.

Two young girls had entered his store and were currently behind one of the large bookcases whispering amongst themselves. Joshua’s features hardened as he continued to hear their irritating banter. But, his attention was steeled on the words within the novel he was idly reading.

“I just wanted to see what all the fuss was about.” The other female returned, “He doesn’t seem that bad...”

They had arrived ten minutes ago and were excessively speaking amongst themselves about rumors they had heard about him. He recognized the younger female, but her friend seemed to be unfamiliar with him or his bookstore.

The female he was not familiar with, was interested in buying something to see for herself what kind of man he was. But, her friend was reluctant to go through with it...and thus their entire reason for being here.

Joshua’s gaze drew away from the novel within his grasp and found himself looking outside. The colors of autumn were still so vibrant and he found himself becoming mildly distracted.

But his mind wasn’t on the colors...

Everything was slowly withering away...dying... and that’s all he could seem to focus on. His emerald gaze remained dull even as he viewed something that he didn’t hate...

Autumn could arguably be the end of the beginning of the four seasons. The tree life shed their leaves in wake for the harsh winter, then spring approaches and life begins it's toll. Once you hit summer, the leaves thrive and prosper. Savannah looked forward to the Autumn coming, it was neither too hot or too cold. The drained colour of the leaves reminded her of her own golden looking hair and of course, it is too tempting to run and dive into stacks of leaves. A gentle reminded of her childish self.

However her trip out at this time was not to play and idle the day away. Instead she was in search of a particular store that seemingly appeared in the city. Savannah had become a sort of regular visitor to the city on occasion. She crossed a road, followed the path down and found herself before a book store.

She stood outside the window and looked up and down at it, a inward smile appeared. Nodding she lightly made her way into the shop, immediately she noticed it was smaller than she first guessed. On further observation she caught sight of two girls in the store lolly gagging amongst themselves. Savannah rolled her head ahead of her and saw the boy stationed behind the counter.

Without another second spent wondering she tooted down an aisle. There she began her hunt for a book. Her arms folded under her chest as her eyes scanned from side to side, every now and though she would sharply inhale through her nose as if she found her prize, but each glimmer of hope was met with disappointment. Her two ears on her head would droop each time and rise in anticipation. This cycle repeated numerous times.

Savannah did not want to admit it, but she was struggling to find the book she was after.

Joshua’s gaze slowly lowered as the front doors of his store opened again and in walked—

His gaze darkened with disdain at the female as she briefly began glancing around his store and then to him. She reeked of animal and clearly was not human...

The two girls standing behind one of the bookcases immediately took notice as well and one began admiring the female’s outrageous set of tails.

“Whoa...look at her...” the older girl whispered in slight awe as she stared at the newcomer’s fox-like tails.

Joshua however was unimpressed and found her array of tails extremely unbecoming. He drew his attention away from the female and slowly lowered the useless material he had been reading prior.

“She’s beautiful,” the older girl complimented in a whisper, but her friend was weary of the new girl.

“I really think we should go,” she urged.

“I want to go say hi.”

“No,” the younger girl whined and Joshua had finally reached the end of his patience with them.

A small sigh escaped her mouth, she was sure she was browsing the 'history' section of the shop. Then again, she did not spend a great deal of time in libraries either. The quest for this particular book was so that she could relive a moment in her life. Her brows narrowed as if to hone her senses.

However something caught her attention, it wasn't as if she could ell it too much though. Her ears twitched at the sound of whispers, they turned and twisted to try an point themselves towards to source. What she did know it was coming from the two girls, one of them was speaking about her. "Oh?" Savannah said to no one in particular.

Her curiosity stirred and led her off her original objective. Time was not and issue for her, so investigating would cause no harm. Savannah rolled her head to the side to glance at the two girls. Her tails drifted side to side slowly.

"Hmm? Did one of you have something to say?" Savannah asked earnestly.

The twenty two year old store owner began making his way toward the girls just as the newcomer rounded the bookcases and inquired about their conversation.

“Oh,” the older girl smiled as she realized they had been caught and for moment she appeared a little nervous. “I just wanted to say hi. I’m Ann and this is my friend Emily.”

She pointed a little awkwardly towards Emily who gave the fox girl a small smile.

“I’m new to Manta Carlos,” she explained a little more and despite being nervous about meeting a supernatural being, she still tried to appear pretty ‘cool’.

Their conversation was cut short however when Joshua appeared behind them and proceeded in kicking them out with no care for whatever new found friendship they may have been developing.

“Both of you need to leave now,” he spoke up firmly, referring only to the two girls who had been talking nonstop since they arrived.

"Ann, Emily, it is a-" Savannah began but could not finish. The boy of the shop stepped in. She watched idly as he shooed them off. "Were they that much of a bother?" The fox injected, leaning her weight to the side on her left leg. It was a shame, it wasn't every day young girls would openly comment on her appearance. It made for good conversation and often led onto various topics.

Thoughts ran through her head, was the boy a grumpy sort, or was he ridding of them because she entered? The latter would be rather amusing, clearly the store to create a convenient situation for two people of opposite genders. Savannah snickered to herself. "I guess it can not be helped." She announced.

Were they that much of a bother?”

Joshua’s unyielding emerald gaze moved towards her as she questioned his actions and he immediately offered her the same ‘courtesy’.

“Feel free to join them,” Joshua returned coldly, and actually reached out to take the older girl’s book she had failed to buy in time.

“H-Hey...” Ann immediately protested...but didn’t feel comfortable acting out in front of the fox girl whose name she had yet to learn.

“Let’s just go...” Emily reached for Ann’s arm and gently tugged her. “It was nice meeting you...” she spoke the fox girl and Ann didn’t hesitate to respond either.

“Yes it was nice meeting you,” she smiled and then frowned at the store owner. “What an ass,” Ann commented quietly as they took their leave.

Joshua didn’t wait to see if the other woman decided to leave or not. He merely returned to his desk and waited for her to finish her business here or depart. He had no feelings on what just happened, but was pleased that the two younger females had left.

ooc: Joshua spoke up before Savannah
was able to say "I guess it can not
be helped". Since he immediately responded
to her first comment. I didn't feel comfortable
adding it just in case Joshua changed her post.
Let me know if that's a problem! XD;</div>

Ah, he looked at her. There was an unwelcoming gaze in his eyes, her own expression turned rather sour over the next few seconds. He was quick to rid of those girls and seemingly her too. Savannah's brows knitted themselves together, the nerve. To think he could push her onto those girl's level, she was entirely a different being!

The two girls were nothing more but harmless, only spilling out noise pollution. As for the fox, one question asked and it was straight to the guillotine. If the shop was closed why didn't he say so? Where was the sign? If not, then what is the deal? She watched closely as Joshua returned to his counter. Those girls did not get a chance to hear out the foxes name, a name of an age old being!

Instead of idling any longer she returned to search out what she originally came for, a book. So she resumed by approaching a shelf, gliding a finger across the side covers. For a moment she figured that she wouldn't find it, but once her finger stopped that proved otherwise. Only issue that it was too high for her to reach.

Her head tilted towards Joshua. "There is a book I desire which is out of my grasp, would you mind?" She asked placing her hands behind her back.

The woman choose to remain... but she kept quiet and provided him with no further reason to force her out. His gaze slowly returned to the window... but he was no longer focusing on the trees.

Joshua couldn’t see them anymore... his emerald gaze remained dull... and lifeless as he stared at nothing... saw... nothing.

Autumn was the only season... he ever observed... but knew why. It was a time... when everything withered away... The vivid green colors... could never remain and would always decay and become as empty and void as himself...

It was depressing... but his reality... and one he had come to terms with. Nothing ever changed for him... it was always the same...

Joshua didn’t yearn for anything else and simply lived each day without any care or attachment... to anyone or anything...

This season reflected his life...

It reminded him... that everything would eventually fade and die.

“There is a book I desire which is out of my grasp, would you mind?”

Joshua looked to her, but his expression seemed to always hold a mild irritation whenever he dealt with other people. He wasn’t incline to provide her with assistance, but he knew the benefit of doing so.

He withdrew from the register and began towards her but kept a few feet between them as he waited for her to inquire which book she ‘desired’.

Her gaze locked with Joshua's till he moved from his spot. She quietly waited and watched him as he came to. Usually Savannah would pack a grin, however a meagre smile would have to do. She let a moment pass before glancing back up towards the prized book.

"The Third Crusade, eleven ninty-one." She said. There was a hint of melancholy that trailed in her voice and rightly so. Her right ear flickered briefly. Her travels led her to following the events that led up to the third crusade, disguising herself as a pilgrim and venturing by boat from Italy to Israel. It was halfway through her fourth century of life.

While musing over her thoughts Savannah rolled her eyes to the side to view Joshua. Something crossed her mind, something she said during her time near Jerusalem.

"Tell me if you may, what do you live for?" She asked, wanting an answer. In other words it could be rephrased as, "What is your purpose in life?"
