Fattherhood. It was probably the single most terrifying thought to cross an un-expecting young man’s mind. Just the idea was overwhelming; to be responsible for another life, and not just the survival of that life but the morals taught to it and all the things this particular un-expecting father wasn’t sure he could do right. He had been afraid of his own father and was brought up with morals that don’t quite fit in with most. How was he supposed to push this little blue eyes, black haired infant he held in his arm, in the right direction when he wasn’t even in the right direction himself?

"…Tired huh?" The young and newly discovered father cooed in a soft voice to child in his arms, shifting him into a better position. The little boy in turn, rubbed sleepily at his eyes and gave a yawn in response to the question, wiggling his way to rest his head in the crook of his father’s neck and shoulder. This easily earned a small smile from the father and momentarily took his mind off of the convoluted thoughts running amuck in his head. He gave a yawn himself and rounded the next corner, more careful of his surroundings now that he was touting around a child. Having just departed a plane after spending the last week in California, taking a blood test , waiting for a result, freaking out and then having to gather up the infant’s things which wasn’t much, Draven was exhausted. He simply wanted to go home, plop down on his bed and sleep….but he didn’t have a ‘home’ to go to and couldn’t just bring his son to his dorm with him. His son…he had a son and he didn’t even know he existed until a week ago. He glanced down at the boy who was fast falling asleep in his arms and though being a father was still very much a scary thought, he wasn’t fearful of the child and rather, felt protective over him.

Though he hasn’t known his son for but a few days, it was almost instinctive to want to protect him and to take care of him. That might have been a result of the fact that his scent is similar to Draven’s own; everyone has their own scent that means something more to a hellhound who’s sense of smell is more keen than human’s. It may also explain how the infant so easily seemed to attach himself to the young man when he seemed overly shy with others. He didn’t give it too much thought however, as his mind was more focused on just what the hell he was going to say to Samael. He was dreading having to confront him with such sudden news like this and didn’t even want to think of how his parents were going to react. He didn’t want to put this kind of thing on any of them and had this knot in his stomach all the way to the bar. Taking a one year old to a bar? That didn’t exactly sound like a better option than bringing him to his dorm at the school campus. He wasn’t planning on taking into the actual bar part of the building however and instead made his way to the back where his boyfriend and his parents lived. About to make his way down the street the bar was on, it seemed the infant in his arms woke from the slumber as one minute he was completely silent and the next he was sitting up and whining.

"Hey…what's the matter buddy?" He asked, using a nickname he had taken to for infant. In return Draven received an upset look and his son reaching for something behind him, hand clenching open and close. Draven raised an eyebrow at the gesture before turning around and finding the source of his sudden change in mood; a small stuffed bear that Draven had nearly forgotten the little boy was holding. Draven turned around and stooped to scoop the bear up. As he knelt though, he placed the upset child on the ground and handed him the bear.

"See…nothin' to get upset 'bout." Draven wiped the tears of exhaustion from the boy's chubby cheeks and consoled him. When he calmed down enough, Draven pulled his own jacket off and wrapped it around him before picking him up. Once again, things were calm and the infant was fast falling asleep in his father's gentle but protective grip. After that, it was a quiet walk half way down the street and to the back of the bar. Though once there, he found himself stalling, wracking his mind for just how the hell he was going to go about doing this. He had practically disappeared for a week after a spending an entire day with Samael only to show up at his doorstep with a kid?! How the hell was he supposed to explain this?! Then, he figured it would all end the same and so he knocked on the door, hoping that due to how late it was, he hadn’t just woken everyone up but that at least Samael would come to the door. He didn’t know what to do and he needed help and he could only hope that his boyfriend of only maybe a month now would someone understand and his parents not flip shit on him.

Dad, break! Samael yelled suddenly over the bar as he dropped the mop he was holding to the counter, along with a small glass. For a moment, the glass spun on its edge and it seemed as if the whole bar watched as it quietly fell back into its proper place, without breaking. The whole bar, that is, except Samael. Wha...Is that rascal finally back? his father asked as he grabbed the glass, frowning at his fleeing sun. Samael was already on the other side of the bar, jumping over it and bursting through the door that lead to the back of the building, and the door to the family's apartment.

Don't call him that! he still yelled as he disappeared from sight, leaving a dead silence in his wake. Then, somebody laughed, and suddenly the bar was full of grown men and women laughing at the strength, and foolishness, of young love. Most regular guests knew of Samael's relationship with Draven and has, along with his parents, taken a hobby of teasing them anyway, but to see the usually stoic young man act like this was definitely something to laugh about.

Eh, to be that young again. one of them sighed as he drank the last of his drink, thinking about the wife and children waiting for him at home.

In the mean time, Samael's could feel his heart trying to escape from his chest as he rushed towards the back door. He hadn't seen Draven in a week, after spending the whole day together at the beach. He remembered falling asleep together that day, and waking up to the empty bed in the morning. He didn't think much of it, considering that Draven still had classes at the Academy while he had a day off from the bar because of his fool mood so he had slept in late, but... As the days passed and he still hadn't heard anything from the other boy he started to freak out, especially with all the fear and confusion he could feel coming from the other boy through their connection. He could still feel some of it now, the wonder, the anxiety, the nervousness. He could practically imagine the knot Draven had in his stomach if he was feeling like this. Swallowing the lump that was suddenly forming in his own throat, Samael slowly opened the door.

Hey. he said, smiling softly, as his own anxiety gradually left his shoulders at the sight of the other man. Where have you...been... he had started to ask, as his eyes looked him over, only to stop as he suddenly found something he couldn't quite recognize in his boyfriend's arms?

Is that a kid? he asked, frowning confusedly.

“Before I say anythin’, dun freak out.” Was the first thing to come out of Draven’s mouth as a response. It was probably the most cliché and obvious thing to say in a tense situation like this but it was the first to come to mind. “Please.” He tacked on at the end, glancing down at the little boy in his arms who now had the stuffed bear he dropped clutched tightly in his little hands, though he was fast asleep. “I just got him to fall back asleep and I can’t handle anymore cryin’ right now.” He said quickly, knowing that would make things more confusing at first but hopefully in a moment it would make sense and it would stick. Samael wasn’t the type to really freak out on Draven for must…even though he did a lot of stupid things and says other things he shouldn’t. He could only hope that this wouldn’t be one of those things he would freak out on him for. He wouldn’t blame him if he did, he couldn’t really. After all, if it was the other way around and Samael disappeared without saying anything and showed up a week later with a kid, he would probably freak out.

“Samael, this is Aiden.” He introduced the little boy, pausing for a beat before adding the really crucial information. “…my son.” It was said a little hesitantly as he glanced from Aiden to Samael and waited for his boyfriend to freak out and his son to wake up and start crying. Well, there it was, out in the open and now he could really only hold his breath and wait. He had a long explanation ahead of him and would have probably already begun spouting excuses and making himself sound like a complete idiot but the child in his arms kept his tone hushed and from him doing such a thing. And suddenly all that anxiety he felt before came rushing over him; what if Samael reacted badly and he broke up with him? He couldn’t expect him to just be ok with this! What the hell was he thinking?!

Why would I freak out? Samael asked, frowning even deeper. His boyfriend was acting, and feeling, rather strange, even for him. Ah, alright. he whispered after a second, dropping his voice lower as he tried to differentiate between the kid in Draven's arms and the fabric he was apparently wrapped in. He reached for Draven's arm as they spoke, partly because he wished to enhance his vision so he could see the child, and partly because he had just missed his boyfriend. Just as he was about to grab Draven's elbow, there came the faithful words. For a second, Samael's brain simply froze.

Draven...had a son. A baby. A baby son. And it was this baby right here. This little baby human that appeared, as far as he could see, to be sleeping happily wrapped in an item of clothing belonging to his father. Where in the world did Draven gotten him? he thought, only to mentally slap himself a second later. Idiot, that makes it sound like babies are something you buy at the corner store. He was about was about to ask some of the correctly phrased questions out loud, when a wall of anxiety suddenly hit him out of nowhere.

Draven was scared. Scared of what he was going to say, and there he was, staring at the empty air like an idiot. Calm down, you fool. he said good-heartedly, finally covering that last few centimetres and grabbing firmly at Draven's arm. Babies are sensitive. He'll wake up from you feeling all that nervousness. He didn't know if that was true considering that he didn't know the first thing about babies, having been so young when his sister was born, however, it sounded true enough, and only that was important. He's cute. he said, smiling down at the sleeping child, his sight finally growing sharp enough for him to see it. He than raised his eyes towards Draven's, placing a quick kiss to the corner of the other's mouth. Come on in. You can put him down to bed in my room. he said, opening the door wider and already turning for the stairs, because, even if the child was just born, any sex that had created him had to happen at least eight months before, which meant long before he had met Draven. Thus, there really was no reason for him to freak out... Well, there were, and the normal person would freak out, however, he simply wasn't the one for that.

Will he need to eat? I can ask my mother if there are some of our old baby bottles lying around...Though I think we are out of milk.

‘Babies are sensitive. He’ll wake up from you feeling all that nervousness.’ At that, Draven took a deep breath and let it out slowly when his fears were practically snuffed out by the red head. He didn’t question how truthful that statement was and instead put his own focus on not freaking out. After all, he had asked Samael not to and he was…well he was taking this a lot better than Draven had when he himself found out. He glanced down at Aiden momentarily when Samael said he was cute and couldn’t help the small smile it brought to his lips. Samael’s calm over the situation was easily welcomes and relieving even. The kiss as well, was much appreciated and he half a mind to stop himself from turning his head and turning the simple kiss into a full blown make-out. He missed Samael and wanted to simply go to Samael’s room so he fall asleep with the red head in his arms as was what he had become accustomed too but he couldn’t do that, not just yet. He nodded at the offer of putting Aiden down to sleep in Samael’s room, oddly quiet for his usually loud self.

“I feed him not too long ago, so he should be good for a while and I have some of his stuff with me.” He shrugged the bag of Aiden’s basic belongings he had, further onto his shoulder as it had slipped partly off earlier. “The rest of his stuff is being shipped and should get here in a day or so.” He explained, having flown with only the essentials and having most of his toys, his crib and whatnot shipped separately. Seeing as all of that came with the kid as was written in the will, he not only now had a kid but all of his belongings as well which made things a little easier considering that meant less money to spend and an easier transition for Aiden. Even still, it was a lot to deal with.

“Look I ahh….I have an explanation for all of this.” He said, following after Samael back to his room. Another obvious statement but another one he felt the need to say. He did have an explanation for this and he didn’t want Samael to think he was holding something like this out on him.

That's good. Samael said softly, still keeping his voice low for the sake of not waking the baby, however, he hadn't turned as he opened the door to his room, for he knew that the smile on his face was strained, because, as Draven calmed down, his nervousness slowly drained from Samael's mind, letting again his own emotions make themselves known. And as initial shock wore off, he could feel his hands starting to shake as the reality of what Draven had just said started to hit him: Draven had a son. He had a son. A tiny little baby human that needs care and feeding, and diaper and was very much alive, born from some woman's womb. It was a child Draven had had with somebody other than him and he really shouldn't be jealous of that because it wasn't like two man could have a child together anyway but he was, even though the thought of 'creating a child' with Draven made him blush slightly. They haven't exactly gotten that far in their relationship yet.

All in all, he had too many emotions and thoughts running through his head, most of which were simply written of as shock at first, but were now, as that wore off, spreading everywhere and spinning out of control. He, however, didn't dare show it, too conscious of Draven's presence in his mind to show that he was anything other than perfectly calm. He didn't manage to hide a small shaking of his voice though as he spoke a moment later. An explanation...would be nice indeed. he said, clearing his bed, and then suddenly frowning at it.

How are you supposed to put a baby on it? he asked, turning towards Draven. There is way they are supposed to lie them down, right? Something about the head and... he frowned even deeper, as he tried concentrating on remembering that so he wouldn't have to think about the fact that his boyfriend had brought home a son. It wasn't working though.

Draven couldn’t help but give a low and light hearted laugh at Samael’s question, despite the situation not being funny at all. He missed Samael and all his little quirks and his nativity of how to lay a baby down was somehow humorous. Not the type of humor to have him howling with laughter but the cute kind that made him want to pull the other in close and kiss him. Draven himself wasn’t an expert but he still found it a little funny. Without saying anything, he simply smoothed out a spot in the middle of the bed before uncovering Aiden from his jacket and laying him down carefully so that he was on his back.

“He’ll be fine just like this.” He said, placing the bag he had slung over his shoulder by the foot of the bed before turning his attention back on Samael. “I’m sorry about this, I really am.” He apologized. “I know this is probably the last thin’ anyone would want for their boyfriend to suddenly bring home to them but I couldn’t just bring him to my dorm with me and if this aint ok I’ll…I dunno I’ll figure somethin’ out, save for an apartment or somethin’…” He trailed off, shaking his head of the thought before he started to overthink things. Not that he already wasn’t doing that.
“Ok.” He breathed then grabbed Samael by the arm and pulled him toward the door where they could talk a little louder with less worry of Aiden waking up and could still see him as well. It would be better to talk outside or something but he wasn’t about to leave his infant child in a room alone; he wasn’t that stupid. “Explanation….I have an explanation.” He let go of Samael’s arm to run both hands through his hair in and rub at his face as he tried to think of where to even start with this.

“Ok….I guess first of all.” He started out. “I wasn’t holdin’ this out on ya and it aint somethin’ like joint custody and it’s my turn.” He paused for a beat. “I woulda told ya I had a kid….” He laughed humorlessly. “I woulda told ya if I knew…” He trailed off for a moment realizing he had begun pacing in his anxiety over the situation. “I didn’t know ok? I didn’t fuckin’ know ‘till they told me the kid’s mother is dead.” He paused again, giving out another low humorous laugh and biting his lip, glancing back toward Aiden and then to Samael. “She’s dead.” He repeated, closing his eyes for a moment and letting out a slow breath and trying to keep his composure. “…and now I’m stuck with her kid…my kid.” He stated with a shaky whispered tone, obviously having a hard time holding onto that composure of his. He couldn’t help it, he cared for Aiden’s mother and both the shocking revelation of the fact that she was killed in a car accident and they had a child, were not easy for him to take. A mess of emotions and thoughts were hitting him hard and he was trying to hold them back as well as he could for Samael’s sake.

“I didn’t have to take him.” He said after a moment of falling completely silent save for the wiping of tears before they could even be shed. “I had a choice after the blood test came back with a matchin’ result but I chose to take him.” He glanced back up at Samael after having fixed his gaze on the floor. “His mother’s dead Samael.” He said once again, knowing he was repeating himself. “And he aint got no other family; she was alone….like me.” He admitted. That was one of the things that brought the two together in the first place; they could understand what it was like to be completely alone and with no family. “I’m all he’s got and …and I couldn’t just turn him down so he could grow up in foster care. He’s blood Samael, and I aint lettin’ him grow up alone and bein’ afraid ah what he is and I aint lettin’ him grow up like I did either.” That was a promise he had already made and though he was unsure about being a father, it was a promise he intended to keep. There was a lot more to it than that and Samael deserved more of an explanation. There was so much about Draven that he didn't know, and that Draven wanted him to know and that if anything was going to work between them past this point, he needed to know.

Honestly, Draven. Samael said, sighing, as he looked at how stressed and hung up his boyfriend was. Reaching forward for him, Samael grabbed his arm, taking Draven's hand into his, holding it gently before strengthening his grip. I can think of at much worse things to bring home. he said, smiling, as his own anxiety started to fade away again. It was still there, somewhere in the back of his head, however, right now, Draven needed him calm, just as he was trying to calm down so Samael wouldn't have to feel all that mess that was inside his head. For once, though, he wished Draven would let go. It would be easier on them both, him getting it out of his system, and Samael knowing how he really felt.

You could have brought a dead body. he said, seriously, trying to lighten up the mood. At least this one is cute. And he truly was. Even with his limited sight Samael could tell that the baby was adorable, looking somewhat like a mini Draven. And he told as much to his boyfriend. He looks like a mini you. he chuckled, trying desperately to calm both of them down, for freaking out wasn't really helping anybody, especially not the baby sleeping a few feet away.

Listening silently to Draven's explanation, Samael tightened a grip on his hand once more, pulling him then into a hug that would have worked much better if he had been taller than Draven. Like this, he couldn't do much more than bury his head in the crook of Draven's neck holding him tightly.

You did the right thing. he said, pulling Draven closer. You shouldn't have left him, he shouldn't grow up alone, not when he has you. And especially not if the boy will have the same powers that Draven does. Growing up in the foster care, shipped from one home to another, and then discovering that you are something different, being scared of yourself all the time... He would have just ended up in the Academy anyway, same as many other kids that had to go through that, and then what? For the chances would be that Draven would still be there...in some way. No, his boyfriend has made a right choice. A great choice.

And I'm sorry to hear about his mother. he said, placing a hand on the right side of Draven's chest. He could feel that she meant something to him. He had cared, and now she was dead, and that had to be hard to wrap your mind about.

Come on. he said, pulling him towards the bed. Let's sit down. He was feeling tired suddenly, and he had a feeling Draven had more things to talk about.

I couldn't remember what Samael knew of Draven's family, if anything, so I reacted somewhat awkwardly to that last part, sorry... Also, I hope I covered everything else you wrote xD

Samael seemed to be taking this a lot better than Draven would have expected anyone too and that was greatly appreciated and needed even. Draven was already freaking out himself and the both of them losing it wouldn’t be very good. He knew Samael was only trying to lighten the mood but the comment of bringing home a dead body made Draven’s heart skip a beat and caused him to hold his breath for a moment but he shook it off immediately after. Funny thing was, just three years ago he could have very well done that exact thing. His attention was put back on Aiden when Samael once again said he was cute which earned a small smile from him but it was short lived as the next of what he said replaced it with a frown.

“Let’s hope he’s not.” He said under his breath and more to himself than anything but it was still loud enough for Samael to hear. No, Aiden was innocent; even if he shared Draven’s DNA, he was nothing like him and he wouldn’t want for him to wind up being like him. Being told he did the right thing though, helped to get his mind off of both those worries. He hoped he had done the right thing; he didn’t want Aiden to grow up without both a mother and a father but he also wasn’t sure if being brought up by him was any better than being in a foster home. No, of course it was better than that. He was blood and the only he had left, besides of course distant family of whom he doesn’t know but that’s beside the point. Just when he was about to turn and give Samael a kiss before sitting down as he suggested, he noticed Aiden stirring in his sleep. Before long, an upset look crossed his little face and his eyes opened only for him to start crying.
“Shit.” Draven cursed under his breath, only for the fact that he wasn’t simply whining as he had earlier and giving a grumpy pout but crying and that crying was quickly escalating into screaming. That was sure not to go unnoticed by Samael’s parents who he was hoping to confront on the issue later when he figured out just how to do it and of course talked to Samael about it, but it didn’t seem like that was an option any longer. Immediately, Draven pulled away from Samael to pick Aiden to console him.

“Shhh…it’s alright, you’re alright.” He cooed softly to the infant, holding him against his chest and rocking him a bit while simultaneously running his back and trying to sooth him. He was sure he wasn’t hungry as he had just eaten not too long ago and though he hasn’t had him for long, he had already recognized his body language and cries he made when hungry as those were the most frequent and easiest to recognize; mostly it was just whining while opening and closing his mouth or putting his fingers in his mouth. Or at least that’s what he could tell in so far but these cries sounded more frightful than anything. Not that Draven was a baby guru or something and though he wasn’t the brightest guy, this was more instinctual, but instead of rushing around to find a bottle or baby food he simply held Aiden close and talked to him while rubbing his back. He didn’t know exactly, but he figured he was probably just frightened; waking up in a new place and hearing a new voice and well as probably being around unfamiliar scents. As a hellhound Draven could understand that last part and seeing as simply holding him and talking to him in a voice he was at least a little familiar with was calming him down, Draven just chalked it up to fear. That and it might have also had to do with the fact that Draven also had a familiar scent considering he had been in his care for the past few days and the fact that they did share the same DNA and so would carry a similar scent. It might sound silly, but scent was important to hellhounds.

“How the hell are we supposed to explain this to your parents?” He asked, keeping a rather calm tone for Aiden’s sake now that he was calming down, even though he was beginning to freak out internally once again as he began thinking of how his parents were going to react to this.

Hearing Draven talk bad about himself made Samael bristle like a cat. He didn't know what the other had done during those years that he hadn't known him, but he also, in all honesty, didn't really care, or not in the way somebody else might. He was slightly curious, yes, and cared simply because he could see that it was causing his boyfriend a lot of pain; enough of it, in fact, that he wished that his own son didn't grow up like him. It made Samael want to smack Draven on the head and hold him a long lecture about how he wasn't a bad person and that if he even heard him talk like that about himself he was going to something much worse (what, he didn't know, but he was sure he could come up with something). He held himself back though for the sake of the crying infant in Draven's arms. And it was crying loud, so loud that he thought that even the customers in the bar downstares could hear him.

Well, my father already things you're a rascal so there is no help there. Samael said, unsure if he should approach Draven as he wanted to, sensing that his boyfriend would need to be calmed down again, or stay back because the baby didn't know him, and he didn't want to make the little man cry again, even harder. He had to admit though that the view from where he was was quite nice though. The baby was cute, even when crying, and Draven was undeniably hot. Hot boyfriend holding a cute baby... It made Samael want laugh for thinking such things at a time like this.

And my mother would just fawn all over him, you'll see. he continued to speak so he could distract himself from some other thoughts. And right on cue, his mother's voice came from somewhere behind the door of his room.Samael, dear, what's going on? she said, his voice worried, as he opened the door, poking her head in so she could see what was happening in there. You're father said Draven was back and I tho...Oh my god, is that a baby? she burst into the room immediately at seeing the bundle in Draven's hands.

It's a kid. Samael said, looking between his mother and Draven, and deciding to get this over with quickly. It's also Draven's. His name is Aiden. he said, focusing on his mother who was already cooing at the baby, trying to make cute faces. There was a moment of shock on her face that stopped her dead in her tracks, but she soon continued entertaining the infant.

Draven's? she simply asked, and Samael nodded her head, explaining what Draven had said to him in few sentences, sparing his boyfriend of a need to do so. Oh, poor child. his mother whispered after he was finished, serious once more as she looked down at the small, one-year-old boy. You did the right thing, young man. she then said, putting a hand on Draven's cheek briefly, smiling at him half-sad, half-proud, before petting it lightly and then turning around.

Let's move to the kitchen. she said, motioning them out of the room as she stepped out herself, immediately assuming that they would follow after her. There is no room for all of us to sit here, and your father shall be hungry when he finishes with the bar, Samael. And with that, she was gone, though it was obvious that she expected them to follow.

Told you. Samael said, turning his head towards Draven with a small smile.
