Almost instantaneously in response to Samael’s mother’s face making, Aiden shyly buried his face into the crook of Draven’s neck in an attempt to hide himself. He gave a whiney sound, shifting in Draven’s arms as his way of saying he was uncomfortable. After all, having woken up frightened to find himself in an unfamiliar place and being surrounded by unfamiliar voices and noises and scents would be a nightmare to any shy young child. His reaction easily earned a smile from Draven who continued to gently rub his back and gave Samael’s mother something of a sympathetic smile. Though, out of curiosity, Aiden did eventually turn his head to see Samael’s mother, the upset look on his face turning into a smile briefly and he gave a soft giggle, only for him to turn his head away from her a moment later, becoming shy once again as she approached. Draven on the other hand, found himself a bit confused and blushing slightly even when she placed a hand on his cheek. It was a strange sensation that has washed over him, almost as if he were being praised by his own mother and it was a sensation he had nearly forgotten about; it was almost alien to him.

Even though he knew Samael’s father meant well, he hadn’t ever really felt comfortable around the man and he had this sinking feeling the man didn’t like him much either. Samael’s statement of his father thinking him of as a rascal and his mother wanting to confront him in the kitchen both gave him a bad feeling. It wasn’t that he had anything personal against Samael’s father, after all he hardly talked to him, but that he was this way around all men similar to him; aggressive, tense, wary and overall uncomfortable and even a little flinch. This was all due to having grown up being both abused by his own father and watching him kill three people he cared loved. At the mention of having to explain things to Sameal’s father, Draven was instantly put off from the idea and hesitant to follow after Samael’s mother into the kitchen. Though, for Samael’s sake and to not seem weak, he put on a good show and gave the red head a small smile while grabbing for his hand with the one that had been rubbing at Aiden’s back. He did however, glance down at Aiden first, who gave a tired yawn before shifting himself into a comfortable position.

“I guess we should go then.” He said lowly to Samael, intertwining his fingers with his. He was going to need Samael by his side to get through a possible freak out from Samael’s father and besides, he missed being able to hold onto Samael and with a baby in his other arm, this was as good as he could do at the moment. His mother’s reaction as well as Samael’s own was more than welcomed and relieving but he had a feeling his father’s wouldn’t be. That would be very likely just due to thoughts of what his own father would do should this situation have come about. He shook his head of the idea, not wanting to think of the child in his arms as a bloody pulp like his first boyfriend, mother and sister wound up being at the mercy of his own father’s hands. He couldn’t help the guilt that came with the thought however, knowing most of that was unknown to Samael and that he had a lot he needed….wanted to confess to him. They had been together for about a month now and normally that was perfectly acceptable of a time frame to still have secrets to share with a boyfriend but he felt that Samael should know and that it was unfair he didn’t.

Hope I covered everything, was kinda tired when

Yeah. Samael said, smiling brightly as Draven intertwined their fingers, tightening his hold on his boyfriend's hand immediately. He was, honestly, still a little wary of the boy sleeping in the other's hands, as he didn't know how to act around the baby, especially because he wanted to do more than just hold his boyfriend's hand after a week of not seeing him, but was willing to put that aside for now. He would wait for Aiden to be asleep again before proceeding to kiss the living daylight out of Draven, and, well, as to getting used to the baby itself... He would get there, eventually.

And you really should stop fretting so much. he added as he pulled Draven into the other room. Everything will be fine. he said with the uttermost certainty in his voice as he knew that his father didn't really dislike Draven, saying what he did about him for the sake of appearances more than anything else. He might have been weary of him at first, considering how much pain their initial connection had brought to Samael, and especially because he was there to witness it all. However, he's opinion had to have changed since then, for Samael could hear just a bit of affection in his voice as he called his boyfriend a rascal (he also rather suspected that he did that just so he could get a rise out of him). Thus, as they stepped into the kitchen, he met his father's eyes straight on as the man turned from his mother who was still whispering something silently into his ear.

Nothing but a rascal, just as I have said. the man then spoke just as his wife finished speaking and stepped back a bit to smile at both her son and his man, as she still insisted on calling Draven. Samael returned the smile briefly before urgently focusing on his father again. He couldn't believe the words the man was saying, and as his father started to frown, his heart began to beat faster. He was suddenly afraid of his father's reaction and his mind came with the most horrible of situations: his father was going to order him to stop seeing Draven, which was something that he would never be able to do. No matter the kid, no matter what Draven was not telling him about his past, no matter...

But at least it seems that he has some sense of responsibility installed into him. the man than continued to grumble, obviously not exactly happy, but not terribly displeased either. I'm gonna go see if Anastasia's baby chair is still around so you can put that kid down while we eat. he added then, stepping out of the room again before Samael, or anybody else, could say anything to that.

Well. his mother concluded, shaking her head a bit as she muttered something under her breath that sounded strangely like 'the stubbornness of that man'. I don't know if you're hungry, Draven, but there is enough for you as well if you want to eat. she then continued as she resumed setting the table for the late night dinner that Samael and his father usually took together after closing down the bar. Having Draven back completely threw Samael's mind off that, but his stomach suddenly gave a long, hungry sound as soon as he saw the food. You can give the child to me while you sit if he will allow it. she then said, going around the table so she would stand in front of them. If not, Greyam should be back with that chair soon.

Yeah, it's perfectly alright :) Ugh, I just hope mine is fine too, I try sooo hard to make it seem like Samael's dad also likes Draven at least a bit, but noooooo. He refuses to cooperate xD

Being told not to see one another any longer was a bad enough supposed reaction but what was going through Draven’s mind was much more gory and had him taking a nervous step back. He didn’t know how to expect Samael’s father to react but he still eyed the man with a wary gaze and kept his distance, his grip on Samael’s hand tightening slightly. His PTSD reared its head as he found himself momentarily stuck in a nightmare of a scenario and nearly missing the next of what Samael’s father said. When it finally dawned on him what Samael’s father actually said, he was taken aback a bit but relieved as he had been expecting much worse. He let out an audible sigh of relief, his tense grip on Samael’s hand relaxing a bit but he kept his eyes on the man as he left the room.

“He’s kinda shy.” Draven said in response to Samael’s mother’s offer to take Aiden. “Besides, I think he’s starting to fall asleep again and I dun wanna move him ‘round too much.” He said. In truth, Draven was a little reluctant to hand the infant off; he was the only blood related family he had left and already having abandonment issues among other things, he wasn’t prepared to just hand him over like that. Not that he actually thought Samael’s mother would take him away but it was a subconscious fear just as it was a subconscious fear of either being hit by Samael’s father or him doing something much worse. Though, this particular fear was more of not wanting to be separated from his kid as he had been from the rest of his family one way or another. It was a simply childish cling just as Aiden seemed to have on him, and it had him edging a bit closer to Samael and acting a little more oddly than usual.

Samael's mother nodded her head at that, sensing that there was a bit more behind Draven's words than what he had actually said, but refusing to insist on anything further when it was obvious that the boy wasn't ready. Instead, she smiled, and the whole of Samael's body suddenly tensed as he had learned to recognize that smile as a sign that an embarrassing story from his childhood was about to be told. Most children are at that age. she said, simply confirming Samael's doubts. The boy didn't dare say anything, though, in fear of his mother digging something else, and entirely much worse. I remember my boy here refusing to leave his father side for even a minute until he was about year and a half. she said, smiling fondly at Samael, utterly unaware that she was probably humiliating him in front of his boyfriend. Cried like a siren every time I had to take him out Greyam's hands. she finished, humming under her breath with a small smile on her lips as she remembered those days. And just as Samael was about to cry in embarrassment, begging her to stop, there suddenly came his father's voice calling him from downstairs to come and help him get the bloody thing up, when did it get so big, he can't remember it being so difficult to get down. Giving Draven's hand a tight squeeze, Samael smiled at his boyfriend briefly, his cheeks still slightly pink because of the story his mother had told them, before disappearing through the door while calling to his father to wait for him so he wouldn't get hurt.

A silence fell onto the room, broken only by the sound of distant grunts coming from the staircase, as Samael's mother was still caught up in the memories of her son being a rather small and loud baby. A few moments later though, the two that had left returned to the room dragging with them a huge, wooden baby chair. The damn thing has somehow gotten bigger over the years. Samael's father complained quietly under his breath as he wiped a bit of sweat from his brow before sitting down into his own chair. We still need to put this thing back together. Samael said, rising an eyebrow at his father, only to get a grunt from him and a smile from his mother. Don't teas your father, dear. she said, scolding his son lightly, before opening the chair in a few quick moves. She was, in the end, used to opening it and then closing it down again, as the chair often had to be moved around the house, and that skill was something that one, apparently, didn't forget.

Here, honey. she said, looking up at Draven with a smile. You can put him down here so you can sit beside him. I'm sure he won't mind that, right?

Ugh, Sorry about that . And the message. I got slightly hyperactive because of a bunch of posts, and yeah. xD Pretend it didn't happen?
