and the rest is history

Faye took a long deep breath that almost made her throat choke up. Her body was quietly shaking, and she could feel her heart thumping in her head. She squeezed her eyes shut and counted to 10. "Ok Faye. You.Can.Do.This. All you have to do is briefly introduce yourself, fill in some papers, and you're free. Not that hard at all haha..ha." Faye knows it's going to take some time for her to get used to this place, as it has a totally different setting from her planet. But she wanted to make the best of this experience, for her father's sake and her own. This was her only chance to meet people and make new friends. Her only chance to rebuild her new life.

Faye was in her human form when she arrived at the Admissions Office, the place she was told to go to first when she arrived at Starlight Academy. She didn't want to worry about scaring others in her animal forms, and instead, wanted to make a proper first impression. Carrying her two bags with her, she walked in and took in the atmosphere. The office was nicely decorated and seemed to be kept tidy enough for a king to live in it. It smelled of a newly built hotel, crowded with many people, chatting and laughing every second. Faye guided herself towards some chairs in the corner and neatly sat down, placing her bags beside her. She glanced over at the front desk where the staff was busily helping out customers. She took another deep breath and exhaled shakily. "Alright, let's just get this over with so I can get my dorm and settle in."

Faye slowly drove herself towards the desk, and started combing through her hair, using her hand as a brush. She shyly smiled and spoke, almost whispering. "Erm...hi there...my name is Faye Mankato and I'm a new student at Starlight Academy."

(btw If you replied to this thread and I don't reply immediately after, it's probably because I'm at school or sleeping xp, not bc I dropped this thread. I'll let you know when I want to end it. ^^)

Maybe it was the new students, Victor thought, that made him keep coming back to the Admissions office. It made sense, as they wouldn't know many people. He would be there to help them around, as well as making connections. It was a big step from having no friends, but he quite enjoyed it.

Another thing about himself that he couldn't explain was his fault of listening into conversations, Thus he was in the process of listening to a girl muttering to herself. She was very nervous, as was to be expected from changing schools. It was like seeing another version of himself, so he decided that when she was all set up, that he would then introduce himself to her and possibly get her acquainted to the school.

Faye's hands steadily shook as she filled in the papers. She finished signing her name and took her dorm key from the employee. Taking a deep breath, Faye's body gave a small shiver and she felt relaxed. Now, she could just get out of here and rest in her dorm. Feeling exhausted, she smiled and said thank you, and slipped away from the desk.

But when Faye turned around, she stopped in her tracks and noticed a boy standing one meter away from her. She jumped and took a few steps back. Was he standing there the whole time? She stared frozen and examined the boy. He was fairly short, maybe almost the same height as herself. He had dark brown hair with tiny strands of gray gleaming in the light, and bright blue eyes framed by black glasses. He had a peculiar look on his face, almost as if they met before. Faye knew he wanted to talk to her.

She blinked a few times and snapped out of her frightened pose. Awkwardly making eye contact, she half smiled and said "Oh um...sorry about that I just...I just got startled by you haha." Laughing nervously, Faye twirled a strand of her hair and glanced at the ground. Part of her was pleading to just squeeze past this guy and leave. But the other part of her wanted to stay; wanted to chat with him for a few minutes and make a new friend.

Her first ever friend at Starlight Academy.

Faye looked up and stepped closer towards the boy. She cleared her throat, shyly took out her right hand, and smiled. Her heart was thumping loudly. "Um...I'm Faye Mankato, and who might you be?"

Victor didn't mean to surprise her, but one appearing suddenly would scare almost anyone. Thankfully, he wasn't too threatening, so while he knew she wanted to run, she instead stayed and laughed, albeit nervously.

"Its okay, I tend to surprise a lot of people." He replied. It was true, his power to stop time meant he could enter places without detection.

She was definitely nervous. There were all the signs, such as twisting hair, lack of eye contact and quick breathing, signifying a fast beating heart. That was why he was here, to help her ease her fears.

He reached out his left hand, and grasped her right, creating a limp handshake. "Uh, I'm Victor Castleton. Nice to meet you"

Victor Castleton...

It was a powerful name that had a good ring to it. It represented confidence and victory. It fit him well she thought.

Faye smiled and said, "Nice to meet you too Victor!" She appreciated that he was acting so calmly and kind, even though they have never met before. She could tell that he was a bit nervous because of their handshake, but he still confidently managed to go up to her and make her feel at home in her new school. And because of this, Faye began to feel more comfortable and confident herself. She felt like she just made a great friend.

But of course, Faye was still holding all these thoughts to herself, even though she wanted to tell him that the name Victor suited him. But she didn't know how to word it. Instead, she thought it would be great to get to know him and his personality better.

"So..what brings you to the admissions office? Are you a new student too?"

Not really a question to get to know his personality...but it was worth a shot. Victor looked about her age, maybe grade 11 or 12, which meant that they could share some potential classes together. It would be nice to know someone in your classes so you won't look like a total loner.

She obviously liked his name. Who wouldn't, it literally meant "Winner's Castlehouse". Not many could have a name like that.

He himself was surprised he was this calm around a stranger.A few months ago, he would have frozen time and ran away. Now, not only is he in a conversation, he created it!

Noticing her personality change slightly, he exhaled a breath of relief. He did the right thing, talking to her.

"I started a few days after the semester ended, so I would start year 12 after the break finishes. What about you?"

Wow, who knew that the first person she would meet at Starlight would turn out to be in her grade! And would be a kind person as well.

"Oh, that's wonderful! Because I'm actually in the 12th grade myself" When Faye said this, her voice got louder and her smile got bigger. Maybe meeting new people at this school isn't as hard as it looked. Nobody can judge you by your past or powers.

It's a new fresh start, that helps you forget your past and make it history.

Although Faye wanted to leave the Admissions Office so quickly, she now wanted all the time in the world to speak with Victor. Something about him and his friendliness made her want to stay. But it was getting pretty late, and Faye was growing dreary. Her eyes were nearly open and her face felt like it was dripping to the ground. Faye had so many more questions to ask Victor: Where are you from and how did you get here? Do you have any powers or abilities? And...what made you want to talk to...me? Faye was still very curious, but she thought it was a good idea not to sound like she was interviewing him.

"Well, thank you so much for chatting with me, but I should get going now. it was...nice meeting someone who was friendly and kind to a total stranger." She smiled, blush appearing on her cheeks,"I hope I can see you sometime again Victor!" And that wasn't a lie. She wanted to speak with him again, maybe grab a coffee or go to an event together. Faye felt they could build a great friendship.

She then started walking away, with her two bags dangling on her arms. Her experience coming to the Admissions Office was made better just because a boy started talking with her. She felt welcomed and accepted by the Starlight Community which made her confidence boost up just a bit. She felt like she was home.

"Oh, and great name by the way...Victor Castleton." She said giggling, turning around slightly in her tracks. And with that, Faye strolled out of the Office and kept on smiling towards the ground, all the way to her dorm.

(you can have the honors of ending it Griffin ^^)

He grinned inwardly when he heard her year level. When Classes start again, then they would probably be sharing classes. A good way to interact more, he thought.

About to ask more, Victor noticed how tired she looked, and was about to suggest meeting up again later when she said goodbye.

"You are most welcome, Faye. Good luck with the new school." He saw her blush. "Did she..?" Victor thought. shaking his head, he decided not to read into it.

Faye gathered her bags, and left. Victor was about to do the same, when she turned around. "Oh, and great name by the way...Victor Castleton." she said, just before leaving the building, a smile on her face.

"Not too bad yourself," he said to no one. "Faye Mankato."
