And now, for something completely different

The basement was as odd as ever. The shoggoth seemed to very hyper nowadays, constantly trying to make some new shrine out of the stones. Littered all over the basement was the failed projects the shoggoth seemed to constantly start. Alt attempted to traverse this minefield as he moved into a rather secluded room inside of the labyrinth that was Alt’s cellar. A long while ago Alt had lost one of his shoggoths to the ritual designed to revive him whenever Alt died. Alt was finally attempting to replace this lost servant through a summoning ritual into the shoggoths realm.

Alt stepped into the center of the circle, previously prepared for such incidents, and chanted in a low voice and in a language only those of Eldritch blood could understand. It was a call to any shoggoth that would answer, be it knowingly or unknowingly.

The energy of the basement darkened as a new being arose from the ritual. The circle glowed bright; the gateway to the other realm opened up. Several tense moments passed as the ground lightly rumbled. Usually Shoggoth were fairly low-class with rather uneventful entrances. However, whatever it was coming through the gate certainly had a power level higher than the derpy babies that couldn't make shrines. Soon, oozing flesh leaked into the space.

Out of the portal came a giant, grotesque blob of meat. Organs were sewn about without rhyme or reason; no evident structure to the creature existed. Several gurgles sounded from the oddity. "Tekeli-li! Tekeli-li!" cried out the Shoggoth. Their "eyes" focused on the person whom called them. Immediately they noticed something off; clearly this was an Eldritch, but they did not look like one....

Quickly the blob copied the man's human form and stood there. Alt would see himself in the summons area of the circle smiling eerily. "YoU RanG?" calmly uttered the being as their vocal cords slowly grew in, the shrill distortions gradually dissipating.

Alt watched with a slight smirk on his face. Just like every other time, the response to the summons was rather quick. Though a strange feeling about this shoggoth slightly unnerved Altizica. He watched as the Shoggoth spilled through the portal, his eyes never deviating from the being.

The cries of the shoggoth further deepened his worries, and once it shifted and spoke...his worry was confirmed. “Shhhhhhit.” Alt said in a quiet voice, quickly coughing to regain his composure. “Oh uh, hello there. Forgive me I simply wasn’t expecting a shoggoth of your....capabilities.” If the shoggoth was speaking to him then it obviously was more intelligent than the babies he had currently employed. While that certainly had benefits for Alt, it also meant extra work Alt had to do for her employment such as paperwork for citizenship. “I am the Great Devourer Altizica, though I’m sure you know me already. May I have you name?”

They tilted their head. "Shouldn't this please you? A more capable summon means a more capable master." At this point, all distortions were gone. They sounded about the same as Altizica now (Which was probably weird for the Eldritch). The creepy smile never left. "Name?"

Those weren't exactly common in their realm. Often times the shoggoths distinguished themselves by specific noises. The specific noises translated into "names". So when one heard their specific sequence of sounds, they knew it was meant for them. Thus Alt was answered with a set of guttural groans and shrieks. While this didn't really translate into something comprehensive in the English tongue, his best bet would be to try and revert the name into more familiar Eldritch tongue then turn the syllables into something usable.

"Your choice of appearance is quite strange to say the least." The shoggoth mused.

Alt didn’t know how to properly explain this to his summon. “Well....it does please me however...um you know what just forget about, it doesn’t really matter.” Alt waved dissmisvely. Of course she didn’t have normal name, her ’name’ just consisting of weird sounds. So Alt took those sounds and made them into what it sounded like in the Eldritch tongue. “I suppose I’ll just call you Shug-Luthriv if that’s alright. I am living among lesser beings so I am copying what they look like. But please do not mimic my form, I have children and they would be greatly confused by two of me.”

Speaking of children...Alt made a strange guttural sound, almost like a whistle. Soon after, three shoggoth ran in. The form they took was mollusk like, with four stubby legs to walk around on. “These are your um....coworkers...this is Rut.” Alt pointed to the first shoggoth, which seemed to have the shoggoth equivalent of it’s eyes crossed and staring off into space. “This one is Fil.” Alt then pointed to the second one, which was just rolling around for no real reason. “And this is Yeg.” Alt pointed to the third shoggoth. Everything seemed fine with the third one, until it started gagging and vomited some rocks it thought it could eat. Nothing could properly describe the level of disappointment that Alt’s faced showed as he introduced the shoggoth.

The shoggoth nodded. "This is fine." Then their appearance began to shift again. They gazed about the room as the second Altizica morphed into a weird blob. Then they settled on a particular image that seemed strangely suitable; a small woman with raven black hair and striking aqua eyes stood before him. She was without clothes and not anatomically accurate, not really familiar with humans yet. She stepped forward without a care and crouched down to examine the shrines. She immediately recognized their purpose though found herself tsking at the quality.

Sure enough, her thoughts were confirmed when the other shoggoth arrived. All of them were tiny babies. Her eerie smile softened, taking on a parental approach. "Aw....you're all babies. How adorable." She crouched down to pet all of the mollusk-like beings. "I'll have to teach you all....especially you, Yeg. There are much better sources of nutrition that will make you big and strong." None of their oddball, childish behaviors fazed her.

Alt also seemed unfazed by Liv’s sudden transformation. She certainly needed to have clothes but that would be solved later. The three babies would gurgle with joy at the pets of their newfound parent Shoggoth. They would all lightly tickle Liv with their tendrils, which was their sign of affection.

“Hm, they seem to like you. That’s good. May I ask what your talents are Liv? I’d like to see what you can do to assist me and my children.” Alt remained motionless, watching the shoggoth interact. He had not seen a ‘mature’ shoggoth in long time do it was interesting to watch interactions between them and the other shoggoth.

"Hm..."

Liv paused from showing the babies affection and gazed up at Alt. "Building, obviously, but I can do more than mindlessly craft structures. I happen to enjoy cooking. Could probably look after young ones." She mused as she softly chuckled at all of the tickling. "I know my way around rituals to a degree. Going to have to teach you all the quick and proper method of making a shrine..." Her attention turned back to the other shoggoths. As if setting an example, she quickly crafted a perfect mini-shrine out of the existing stones. It took little effort on her part.

Alt listened carefully as Liv listed her special talents, smiling a bit as she said she cooked. “Well that is just wonderful! I eat literally anything but I’m sure the kids will enjoy home cooked meals~ Your starting to sound a lot like a maid.” Altizica giggled a little at that, while the shoggoth had always been helpers, he had never had an actual maid.

The shoggoth were suddenly transfixed with Liv’s crafting of a shrine. When she was done they were all stunned with how perfect it was, lightly poking and licking it as they inspected it. Once they finished their inspection, the three shoggoth gave off screeches of excitement. “I believe you will be a perfect fit here Liv.”

The term made Liv blink and tilt her head. "A maid? Please elaborate, Master." She had never heard of a maid before. She stood up straight. "I also wonder what these strange beings are that we are taking the forms of." She fully expected an explanation. The being stared Alt down for an answer as the babies were inspecting their new mother's creation; her smile made this act more creepy than intended.
