It was well past midnight. The school had been on high alert lately, considering students going missing and the increased crime rate in the city. He figured this would likely be his last chance at reviewing the school's history records and any thing else that might help him with his search. Of course, recently a new problem had arisen: the theft and torture of mortal souls. He had no choice but to make this new situation priority. While much worse could occur were he to fail his main objective, even he had to admit that he had not turned up results in quite some time.

A pounding headache surfaced for mere moments, causing him to lose his concentration. His mind had still not fully recovered from that just a few days ago. It was difficult even for him to recall many of the security codes and passwords he had been able to hack into the past few times he was here. This slowed his progress considerably, but he was still confident that he would be able to look through the files in peace tonight. After all, with the school being more alert they enforced the after-hours policy much more strictly. Which meant as long as he was not caught in the halls he would likely not be disturbed.

Well.. in theory.

The only light in the room came from several of the monitors belonging to the computers he was using to hack his way into the academy's main database. Student records, financial information, all was contained within. But that did not interest him in the least. What he needed was history. Strange occurrences. Anything of note would surely have been recorded, perhaps even hidden away as documentation that the school did not want others to ever find. These were the things he needed. Speculations, rumors, witness statements, unexplained events. Anything of that sort could prove useful.

The night was largely silent, as Yin tread through the halls. It was quite late, yet this didn't bother the woman. She was used to the silence, the darkness, the calm. She didn't have anything scheduled for the morning, but the lack of sleep wouldn't be too hard to deal with. Yin had even adjusted to it, actually.

As she passed by the computer room, however, she could detect a slight glow. Pausing, the hybrid turned to the door, opening it silently. Padding into the room, Yin stirred the shadows around the chair of a young man tapping away at the computers. "It's a little late to be logged on, don't you think?"

Her voice was quiet, even as she drew a bit closer. Frowning, she took a closer look at him. The lighting was poor, yet... "You shouldn't be here, Mr. Fordren." Warily, she shifted a bit, ready to act in case anything happened. She felt a slightly familiar twinge that she hadn't felt in a while.

Toki walked through the halls grumbling. He had been planning to go to his secret stash of candy. All he had found in his back was something he had accidentally picked up while wandering around in the city. He held up his phone, which was acting like a flashlight. He was definitely in the wrong place. He shrugged. He would eventually find his way. Everything would be good as long as he did not find himself in the science classroom. He turned to notice someone else in the corridor. He turned off the phone and allowed his eyes to adjust. He followed the person with some difficulty.

He noticed the person enter the computer lab and he soon found himself leaning against the wall right by the entrance of the room. He was being cautious. He could not see well in the dark and did not want to take the risk of getting involved in a bad situation just yet. It was safer just to listen for now. It was not like he could get in trouble for breaking the curfew. He was not a student here, but a hired adult.

D'oh! Caught! He didn't have enough time to react to the situation before she saw his face, not that it truly mattered. It would not have been unlike him to be chased after fleeing anyways. She knew his name, not that this was at all surprising. Most of the staff had known him anyways, and if they didn't before they did now thanks to the posters that man had been spreading around. Truly, it was very over-dramatic. Not that he was at all in the right to claim something as overdramatic.

He had never seen this woman before. "Indeed you are correct. My sincere apologies, m'lady. However -" As soon as he stood up to turn to her he paused. Something was off about this woman. "Ahem. However, I am pleased to report that it is my belief I have found exactly what it was I have been looking for." He looked her in the eyes now. "You may refer to me as Alistair, m'lady. However, I must admit ignorance to your name. Judging by your appearance and demeanor one would infer you are employed by this academy, no? In such a case this situation is surely to become rather awkward, for more reasons than one. In case you are new and unaware, typical protocol for staff in the event of a trespassing stranger is to avoid contact as much as possible while contacting the authorities." He smiled. "Though I find no one ever follows that protocol. I believe I read that it was created decades ago."

Despite being caught, he certainly did not appear to in any way be aggravated or otherwise concerned. If anything he looked intrigued.

Yin turned only slightly, feeling watched. Ah another member of staff. He wouldn't interfere unless it was needed then. Her attention returned to the man as soon as she knew that Toki wouldn't be a problem. She inclined her head in a polite nod as Alistair told her to call him by his first name. "You may call me Yin, then. I am indeed employed by the school."

Her wings ruffled a bit, though the woman's stand remained open to talking. He was a fair bit taller than her and moved with an easy grace, yet neither were that intimidating for Yin. "Despite protocol, I'm rather more curious about why you are here in the first place. Should the authorities truly be required, I'm sure my associate by the door would be willing to go for help. After all, it would be irresponsible to leave someone accused of assault alone in an area with sleeping students." She remained quiet and amiable, despite her thoughts on the validity of a wanted poster put up by a local gang. At least he wasn't hostile, for now.

"Tch" He had hoped to listen to more of the conversation before his presence was know to them. He was sure that he had not done anything to reveal his presence just yet. Well apart from just standing there. He shook his head remained there. There was no apparent need to show himself yet. It did not matter if they knew he was there.

He wanted to learn more about the situation before he made his move. He had seen the wanted posters but he rarely trusted such things. Especially with such strange rewards. He was not going to get tricked so easily. Though he held his phone in his hand ready to call the authorities if they were needed. After all Yin was right. it was not safe to let too many dangerous people around students.

He took immediate notice of her slight gesture towards what lay behind her, and judged from not only that movement but the slight change in her emotions that there was at least one other outside of the room. A group preparing to surprise him, perhaps? He couldn't be sure, but if that was indeed the plan she blew it by that slight, perhaps subconscious, gesture. "Very well, Yin. It is a pleasure to meet you." He gave a low, formal and graceful bow.

Well then, she simply told him about the stranger outside anyways. Likely it wasn't meant as some sort of surprise attack, then. "I completely agree with your logic, Yin, for if I am truly someone whose presence endangers the students, you have done the correct thing by placing yourself in front of me. And using your little buddy system is sure to impress me further." He smiled. Despite his strange words he continued with his formal, forward tone. If he were lying or in any way trying to deceive her, he was surely doing a good job at hiding it.

In a slow, nonchalant motion he pressed a single button on the keyboard of the computer next to him, and instantly the screen went black, along with every other computer in the room. "I have caused no permanent damage to the systems, but it will take a short while to get them fully up and running again. You can keep this room closed for the next day while the technicians work on it. This way, no student stumbles upon the information I was searching for. Surely such a thing would be unfortunate."

At this point he turned around and faced one of the windows. "I think perhaps I should take my leave now. I do not wish to intrude further. If you would like to hit the alarm on the wall next to you, it is recommended you do so now, before I am beyond the grounds. This way you cannot be scolded for not attempting to restrain me." He looked back at her with a smile on his face yet again.

It said a fair bit for his manners and demeanor that Yin couldn't tell whether Alistair's words were mocking or truthful. At least he was polite about it, either way. The woman gave a slight nod at the mention of the computers, glad that there wouldn't be any lasting damage. Yet, curiosity consumed her over what he had been looking for.

"Be that as it may, considering the nature of my powers, I would likely be scolded for not attempting to restrain you, whether the alarm is pressed or not." She took a step forward, reaching into her pocket for the small penlight she carried at night. Smiling apologetically, she pushed the button on the tiny light, giving her just enough light in this dark room to work with besides the bit of light shining in from the window.

Two tendrils of warm shadow wrapped around Alistairs ankles, another two going for his wrists. It would take a little bit of time to make them extraordinarily solid, but if he could break out of them and get away, then he deserved it. If not, Yin could get a few questions answered. Yet at this distance, Yin was able to tell just WHAT he was. The woman blinked, her shadows loosening slightly before returning to their previous task. "I admit, I'm a bit surprised that you're one of them." She wasn't about to declare his status as a Celestial in front of someone. If he was looking human, there was a reason for it.

Toki quickly entered the door frame when he heard about the computers. He had wanted to stay against the wall longer but it was no like he had a choice. Not only did it sound like the person was about to leave but he had vandalized the computers. Even if it could be fixed it was still something he would not tolerate. Toki had no problem up to this point, he was just suspicious, but he could not just let him leave. He entered the room and looked at the two occupants. He slowly walked up to them.

"The same would go for me too. Not that I would care about getting scolded. It's not like it is that hard to over power a child," Toki said. He looked at Alistair and then at Yin. He had no idea what Yin's last statement meant. Due to the nature of this school it could mean anything at all. It could be an another race or an organization. He decided to pry for now. Instead he crossed his hands and looked back at Alistair.

Toki considered summoning a Spirit into this room but decided to wait and see where this would go. It was in his best interest to wait until they were outside. This was not the best environment for a fight when it came to his abilities. He would do a lost more damage than good to the room.

Oh? Shadows? This was certainly getting interesting. He was expecting the woman to have some sort of means of restraining him, and theorized many possible situations that he could encounter, but in all honesty shadow control was not something he had considered. But he really was not not that surprised, for he had not actually expected to easily get away this time. Not when one with Celestial blood had confronted him. And not only that, but there was someone else here, too. Not a person he recognized, but despite the small stature he knew well not to underestimate him. He had encountered beings far smaller that were even more dangerous.

As soon as the shadows appeared he needed to make a quick decision. Did he try to escape, or allow the woman to capture him in hopes of making good with the school? While originally he had good reason not to get directly involved with the academy's affairs, the situation had changed lately and it was likely impossible to avoid the involvement of the institution. He had neglected to bring his sword along with him, purposely for a situation such as this one. She finally was able to realize what he was, which was what truly made him stay.

"Them?" He quoted. "You speak as if you and I are on different sides." He shrugged, simply allowing her shadow tendrils to grab him, making no effort whatsoever to escape.
